Stress and Dread

Alicia was worried. The more time she spent with Mieczyslaw the more and more worried she became.

He was clearly trying to hide how much stress he was under but she could clearly see what was happening.

After all there was a reason why they had Lord and Ladies instead of the Grand Master controlling all the districts directly.

Mieczyslaw was finding that out.

Physically he was completely fine with handling the other districts however emotionally? It wasn't going so good.

With everything that was on his mind she could see him slowly breaking little by little under the pressure.

"I know that! Thank you I've got the picture. Get out of my sight" Mieczyslaw growled at an Lord of Air servant.

The servant hurried away, terror rolling of her.

He rubbed his temples in frustration.

"I was busy with the Mind District. No one told me I needed to be there, I can't be two places at once, don't they know that!?"

Alicia thought well technically you can but with his mood she decided not to bring that up.

The floor started to rumble dangerously beneath her.

"Mieczyslaw!" She warned quickly.

His eyes widened and he shuddered a little before he closed his eyes, breathing slowly and forcing himself to calm down.

"To top it of I can't even be properly angry because if I let any of that anger out I might course an earthquake!" He growled.

Mieczyslaw swore under his breath.

He only then seemed to notice she'd been watching him and his little tantrum.

He then suddenly looked embarrassed and ashamed.

His voice changing, sounding just like his old one, without the deep power smothering it from before.

"I'm sorry... I..." He trailed off, unsure how to continue.

"It's okay" She said "I don't mind"

She really didn't.

Ever since she had met him he'd been under constant stress, nothing was wrong with letting it out. Alicia did admit sometimes his new power could be a little scary but she understood him and wanted to help him in anyway she could.

"It's not just this that's bothering you is it? The meeting with the council is coming up soon" She said carefully.

Mieczyslaw let out a slow breath, frowning, shoulders hunching as he looked out of the huge glazed window in the Lady of Air's throne room.

"Yeah..." He said slowly.

"I'm just not sure how this will go down. What if I make a enemy out of them? What if it drags back old history? What if they ban us from visiting the human world?"

Alicia gave him a small smile as she said "You've got to give yourself more credit. They are terrified of you, not the other way round. In fact I think it's them who shouldn't piss you off"

Mieczyslaw chuckled at that.

"You really think so?"

"Yes! Besides why are you so nervous at this meeting anyway? It's not like you?"

He sighed, scratching a ruin on his wrist nervously.

"I'm probably being paranoid but what if the meeting doesn't go well and with them being the heads of the supernatural in the human realm, what if they cut off our access to the human world? My father knows I'm a sorcerer but I haven't told him exactly what happened to make me, ah...look like this and the power increase"

Alicia frowned a little, something was missing here.

"Cut of our access to the human world?"

"Yeah, I heard druids or witches could do that. Powerful ones can stop our portals. I guess they probably wouldn't be able to stop mine but it still make it more difficult to do so"

Now...

Alicia was panicking a little, okay maybe big time.

Had no one told him?!

Was it up to her?

She thought Madam Rucia would have at least warned him!

Maybe she sneakily left it up to me so she didn't have to deal with his anger or this could be punishment for not doing as much chores as she should have last week? The latter was most likely. Madam Rucia could be cruel like that sometimes.

"Mieczyslaw" She started to say then she was interrupted.

He stiffened, his eyes narrowing and suddenly there was this odd magic in the air she didn't recognise.

What was this?

Mieczyslaw said hesitantly "There's an intruder. Someone's not part of this realm has just walked into the sorcerous world"

Surprise and shock was shared  between them.

Before she could say anything else he started to create a portal.

She watched his hands move in fascination as he created the portal without needing a ruine.

"Sorry but given everything that's happened I'm not letting someone unknown just wonder in here. I'm sure what happened with me could have been avoided if we'd been taken to the Grand Master instead of that idiot getting in the way. I need to go, we can finish our conversation later?"

Not waiting for her reply he was gone before she could say anything, stepping through the portal.

Alicia swore inside her mind.

Staring at his empty space.

She had meant to tell him...

The council was only made up of one supernatural creature and it wasn't witches or druids.
