Stiles paid attention to the Lady of Air first, he had an idea what was wrong with her. Now he looked at her as beautiful as she was for her age, he couldn't help but notice that she looked more pale than she should and the lines on her face were beginning to show.
"You're fading away my lady" Stiles said as gently as he could.
She nodded.
"I knew my time will be up soon. I've lived my years to the fullest"
"I've heard you were the oldest out of all the other Lords and Ladies"
The Lady of Air nodded, despite knowing what was happening to her Stiles did not sense any fear.
Her expression seemed to soften as she looked at him.
"I was worried when I first saw you, you're younger than I expected but I think... you'll do well, all Grand Master's are chosen for a reason"
Stiles smiled slightly at that.
However she leaned in slightly, not quite looking him in the eyes but almost.
"Though may I give you some advice? To be a good ruler you must be decisive and strong willed. Remember, your word is law now, so whatever happens you will always face the consequences"
"I understand, thank you" Stiles said.
Though slightly foreboding he knew her words were worth heeding.
Then he turned to the Lord of Fire, his eyes narrowing slightly.
His thread looked sickly but strangely enough it didn't all connect with him, going from him in a different direction out of the door.
Stiles had a feeling he knew where that thread was going, there was only one thing that was important enough to be connected to a lord. His magic was trying to tell him something.
His voice was cold as he addressed the Lord of Fire "Something's wrong with your district"
He could practically see the sweat start to form on the Lord of Fire's brow.
"There's nothing- I-I mean I was going to tell the Grand Master but with everything that just happened-"
"What's happened?" Stiles growled.
The airs dropped in temperatures suddenly, the Lord of Fire looked like he was struggling against something but finally said shakily "T-there is a...disease, that's going through my district"
That explained why the thread looked sickly.
A shiver spread through Stiles body but it wasn't one of fear but one of rage.
"And how exactly did it get this bad? How long have you known about this?"
The Lord of Fire didn't reply.
Stiles gritted his teeth, withholding what he really wanted to say and do. He was actually surprised at how angry he felt.
I didn't care that much about what was happening with the other districts before, I'd been to involved with what was happening with Fitz and everything else but now I feel...responsible Stiles thought.
He wondered if it was because he was the Grand Master or if he'd start to care about the other districts the more he felt at home in the sorcerer world.
The air dropped and dropped in temperature.
Ice started to creep along the glass stained windows...
The Lord of Fire started to look even more pale, his eyes widening in shock and fear.
The Lady of Air spoke up quickly "The Lady of Water has the best healers. I'm sure I can send her a message to bring in healers to the Fire District, whatever sickness it is her healers have never failed"
Stiles closed his eyes, trying to calm himself down, he let out a breath slowly.
The ice melted quickly and the temperature slowly returned to normal.
He nodded at the Lady of Air, she took it as her dismissal. She created a portal next to her, though Stiles called out to her before she left.
"Will you know when it's about to happen?"
She knew what he was talking about without question.
"I will go to this court and say goodbye to you and the other Lords and Ladies, then I will take my resting place within my district, with you at my side. You will help me bid my final goodbyes, that's how our deaths are done. Then before I die I will tell you my name, my last gift to you and you will give me my last gift by remembering me"
She gave him a small smile before she left through her own portal.
He felt more relaxed at that, at least he'd changed one of the Ladies opinions of him. She actually... trusted him or trusted that he would look after their world, either one was fine by him.
Stiles gaze returned to the Lord of Fire.
He looked like he was wilting under Stiles gaze.
"I suggest you don't make any more mistakes in the future or we'll need to replace two Lords and not just one"
The Lord of Fire didn't try and hide his fear.
