The puddle-brown coloured brown wall seemed to somehow calm Penelope down as she sat in the booth, sipping on her Lime-topped beer, or maybe it was the boy opposite her; his hazel coloured eyes looking into hers as he told her about his teenage days. She found herself staring at his features, his prominent cheekbones moving as he talked, the way he would say "Um" every few seconds.
" Did ya' ever have that experience Penelope?"
" Sorry?" Penny spoke, coming out of her trance.
" Did you ever have that type of experience? First boyfriend and all that?" He asked,
" My first boyfriend?" She questioned, not remembering what he'd been saying; it had always been one of her faults at work.
" Yeah what was it like and all that, teenage years." The chocolate-brown haired man reminded.
" Well... His name was D-George." She began, " We met each other when he came to my boarding school..."
" You went to boarding school?"
" Yes, well I went to primary school here and Boarding School for High." Penny informed, " I was quite a troubled childhood, traumatic. I lost my mother when I was little, that scarred me quite prominently."
" I'm sorry." He sighed, offering a sympathetic smile.
" It's fine... But George- Yes. He was in a band and they toured around where I went and he came to mine and well we clicked. He was quiet but he could be loud, he had an amazing sense of humour and he was quite the smooth talker." Penny chuckled, " We only really had a few weeks together but we wrote, then well... I moved back here."
" That changed your world?" He suggested, knowing how she felt.
" Yes, it changed it drastically! I had a lot of family and friends back here so it was nice to spend time with them and then it started to complicate things, I didn't want to leave for College due to certain people. And well I chose college in the end." She nodded.
" I get that, it's like that when I go back home. Where did you go to college?" He asked,
" I went to Kings college in Cambridge." She informed.
" Isn't that one of the ones that backs on to Cambridge?" Mick quizzed,
" Yeah, I got my degree at Cambridge after my A Levels at the college" Penny agreed.
" Smart then?"
" Some people say so!" She laughed.
" I bet." He joked.
" So what do you do for a living?" Penny inquired,
" You're going to think I'm a bit strange-" He laughed, " I'm in a band."
" Oh wow, professionally?" Penny replied.
" Yeah." He nodded, " What about you?"
" I'm a Junior D.I" She began before she noticed the puzzled look on his face, " Basically I help solve crimes, Junior Detective Inspector."
" Ah, must be interesting." Mick drawled.
" It is, bloody exhausting though..." She muttered, " So this band... What do you play?"
" Drums." He answered,
" Nice! I used to be in a band, quite a few actually." She sauntered.
" Oh really?"
" Yep, when I was really little I was in a band with my best friends. I had a band in high school and when I moved to Cambridge." She continued,
" What did you play?" He asked impressed.
