Am I going to just completely ignore the giant cliff hanger I left to bring you all the date as torture?

Hell yes I am. Enjoy waiting to find out what the hell just happened.

"Have you ever been here before?" Logan asked as they walked into The Rat Palace.

"No, this is my first time," Remus said. "I don't get out much."

"Well I'm glad that you agreed to come on this date with me," Logan said. "Hopefully it'll be a good experience for you."

"I'm sure it will." Remus' eyes lit up as he noticed the rats. "There are actual rats here? I thought it was just the name. That's so cool!"

"The rats are potty trained," Logan explained. "They'll go to the bathroom in their cages, so that's why the cafe is allowed to have them here. There's also hand sanitizer on the tables so you can eat your food without worrying about germs from the rats. They really thought of everything."

"Come on, let's sit down," Remus said, practically skipping over to a booth. He was bubbling with joy, and Logan smiled softly. "This is going to be so fun!"

"It looks like we got Remy and Emile," Logan stated, pointing at the two rats. One of them was caramel colored with white patches, and the other was black with white patches. "Those two are known as the gay rat couple here. I was reading about them on the website. It seems they refuse to be separated. Actually, it's ironic considering the two owners are Remy and Emile, and they're married. The rats were named after them."

"That's so sweet," Remus said. He opened the cage, letting the two rats run out and crawl on him. They seemed to absolutely love him, and Remus looked like he was in heaven. "Oh my god I love rats. They're so cute."

"Not as cute as you," Logan said under his breath before talking normally again. "Those rats are quite adorable. And rats are extremely intelligent. They're less than sanitary in the wild, but domestic rats are quite good pets, or so I've heard."

"I kind of want a pet rat," Remus said. "I mean, they're just so cute and perfect. And they're easy enough to take care of. It's not like mom and dad would notice anyway since they're always gone. I hate their dumb business trips. Roman and I basically raised ourselves. I blame them for why Roman is how he is. Me loving him wasn't enough. He didn't get enough care and attention and now he needs it from someone else or he snaps. And maybe that's not all of why he's like this, but I blame them for at least part of it." Remus seemed to realize he was ranting, and glanced down shyly. "Sorry, it's a date. I shouldn't be talking about all of this."

"Remus, it's quite alright," Logan reassured him. "I'm glad that you trust me enough to open up to me about things like that. I'm always here for you if you need me. And trust me, it's in no way your fault that Roman ended up like this. You didn't say it, but I can tell you blame yourself. It's not your fault. Some of us are just made to be broken, but he can survive it. I've seen many who have, and he's strong enough to work past it."

"Thank you, Logan," Remus murmured. "For everything. For being here, for helping with Roman, for just understanding. There's so much I haven't been able to talk to anyone about because Roman would blame himself and no one else would understand. Thank you."

"It's no problem, Remus." They both ordered their food, which came relatively quickly. Time seemed to fly by around them as they talked and laughed and just enjoyed each other's presence. Around an hour later they finally decided it was time to go.

"I'm so glad I went on this date with you," Remus said happily. "I had an amazing time. We should do this again."

"I agree," Logan said. "I really enjoyed today." His phone chimed and he pulled it out, clearly confused. His face paled as he read a text. "Where did we leave Roman and Janus, and where were they going?"

"We left them at the school," Remus said. "And they said they would be going to the park and then back to our place to watch movies. Why?"

"Two dead bodies were found in the park," Logan said quietly, looking at Remus with a serious expression. "And there were also two cloths covered in chloroform."

"So Roman snapped," Remus muttered. "But what was that about the cloths? What does that even mean?"

"It means that Roman isn't the only one who snapped."
