August.

How many memories could have been made within two months? One summer? Weeks of the lingering scent of chlorine or sunblock that casted a sheer sheen onto your skin. Days of sandy toes and grassy picnics with watermelon in your mouth. Hours of conversation that scaled from the surface to the hearty roots.

Outside sat plenty gathered around the bonfire. No one cared about the unpleasant smoky scent that rubbed onto their small clothes as the summer heat danced like the sparks erupting from the flame, or even the boys next to the speaker. In the backyard of the residence, the friends had roasted marshmallows almost every weekend. Residue of gooiness and chocolate smeared on their faces that was wiped off with a sleeve or a kiss from another. Thin blankets covered their legs solely for comfort while the grass tickled at their feet.

"I can't believe we're finally being inaugurated. It feels like just yesterday I almost got my shifting taken away." Seorin chuckled, crumbs of graham cracker fallen onto her chest.

"That night was crazy! God, I wished I could've stayed for the whole thing but this dude got his ass beat." Renjun nudged Jisung who was between them, earning a glare from the black haired boy. "I'll challenge you to a rematch one day, Baek." he joked, wrapping his arm around her shoulder that was still slightly sticky from the sunscreen applied earlier. She scrunched up her nose, pressing a gentle kiss to his lips that tasted sweeter than s'mores.

"Please, I'm gonna throw up." Mark gagged, Miyeon giggling in his arms.

"Shut up. Let's not forget the time Uncle caught you two making out in the storage closet." the blue haired girl clapped back, making both of their cheeks turn a bright crimson. Hyerin laughed, snuggling in the hammock with her own boyfriend. "That's disgusting." she teased. The entire group shot a confused look in their direction.

"Uh, anyways..." Mark trailed off, knowing that they were definitely the most affectionate couple amongst them, one could say. "Cut the couple talk, it's pretty disgusting." Chenle rolled his eyes as he held the white puppy in his lap. "I'm surprised you all lasted after high school. I mean, what are the odds you guys get to marry your high school sweethearts?" he gleamed.

"Marriage? Now you're getting ahead of yourself, Lele." Seorin raised her eyebrows in shock. Jisung, Hyerin, and Jaemin nodded in agreement. "We're still kids. Let's not think too far into the future." she hummed.

"Okay, let's talk about the past then." he sat up, facing all of them with a smirk. "What are your favorite memories from high school?"

"The time you almost set the school on fire by microwaving a silver fork." Renjun said excitedly, making his face flush in embarrassment. "That was only twice." Chenle grumbled, sitting back into the patio's couch. Nonetheless, they all laughed hysterically.
