"Where are you taking me?"
They were sat in the black interior of the strawberry red vehicle, the heater embracing them. On the nearing February afternoon, the two of them had no plans, just the wind to take them.
"You need to get out of the house, it's depressing being stuck in one place."
"I'm not always at home." Minseo argued.
"If you're talking about the volleyball gym, that doesn't count either." he responded, silencing her ultimately.
Pursing her lips together, she looked outside of the tinted windows. The trees were bare, yet still more alive than any type of nature in Jaegu. The glass was chilled, frost forming at the top of the roof. Curled up into a fuzzy jacket, she glanced over at the driver's seat.
An expression that seemed unreadable, one she couldn't psychoanalyze. Tanned skin, even in the middle of winter. Rosy toned eyes that held too much to unravel, fixated on just the road. His left hand gripping the sleekness of the steering wheel, the right resting on the gear shifter.
Lee Donghyuck was damn well a mystery, yet an open book at the same time.
"I don't get it."
"We weren't even talking." his eyebrows furrowed together.
Rolling her eyes in the slightest, she rested her face against the cool window, a cloud of condensation forming at it from the heater. "No shit." she mumbled.
"I don't get why you're being nice to me. We aren't friends, so why are you offering me a ride to— I don't even know where we're going."
Lowering down the volume of the music, he glanced over at her briefly. "I pity you." he spoke bluntly, words so simple, yet heavy.
"Is that why you and your friends want to talk to me?" she pondered, hurt slowly filling her chest.
"Actually, no." he began. "They genuinely are interested in you as a person... for some reason. I'm bored and figured I might as well do something for someone. Maybe karma will be on my side." he shrugged.
"Oh yeah, I'm just charity work for you." she grumbled.
A small chuckle left his lips. "That's a fun way to put it."
Seeing the buildings becoming unfamiliar, an inevitable wave of nerves built up in her system. Looking at his expressionless face, she leaned closer to the middle space between them.
"Where are we going?" she asked quietly.
His eyes flickered to their sudden closeness, the top of his lip pulling upward in confusion. "What are you, scared?" he teased.
"In fact, I am." her arms crossed. "You and I aren't friends, how would I know you're not just kidnapping me?"
"Why would you lean closer to a potential kidnapper?"
