"Choi." a female voice stopped her right before she could push open the door.

Shutting her eyes in impatience, she turned on her heel, feeling sore and weighed down by her duffel bag.

"What?" she muttered back, meeting face to face with a girl her height.

Hyerin took a step towards her with crossed arms, still somehow towering over her despite being at the same level. She swallowed the feeling in her throat, glaring holes into her profile.

"Silly girl, I'm not mad."

She broke her intimidating demeanor, making Minseo sigh in relief in the slightest.

"I was being immature and petty, I shouldn't have acted this way towards you. I was just... j- um..."

"Jealous, Seorin told me." Minseo chuckled, making her face flush red.

"That bitch." she mumbled under her breath, recomposing the smile on her face.

"You don't have to worry- Jaemin is definitely not my type. I have a boyfriend, him and I have been dating for three years, Hyerin."

"Well I don't know how to feel, does that mean you think Jaemin is ugly or something?" she looked at her with wide eyes.

"You're weird, Hyerin." Minseo chuckled.

"Besides the point, I'm happy for you! Also, we play pretty well together on the court, I'm glad you're here for this season. It was gonna be a hard one, I heard the setter at one of the school's we're playing is super good." she shuddered, only imagining her skills.

Minseo quirked up an eyebrow, unfamiliar with who she was talking about.

"What school?"

Hyerin pursed her lips in thought, pondering all the options. "Jaegu, their team's always been pretty good."

Suddenly, her heart dropped at the mention, feeling it sink down into her stomach. Guilt filled her system as she was reminded of the city- too guilty to even be flattered by her indirect compliment.

"H-Hyerin, can I tell you something?"

She was slightly taken aback, seeming as though they were barely even friends. Nevertheless, she nodded, taking on her responsibility as being team captain.

"I-uh, I'm not from Bicheon. I'm from Jaegu."

Her eyes widened a fraction hearing the unexpected surprise. "I guess that makes sense." she mumbled, still wondering with curiosity.

"Jaegu's a non shifter school, how are you-"

"I'm not a shifter." she couldn't hold it in any longer, making her eyebrows knit together. "How? Why are you here- why are your eyes orange?" she questioned.
