Red, no blue this time.

Everything ablaze around her, sparks igniting at the heating sensation.

No, it wasn't painful, nor was it pleasant.

A childhood home, small and humble in the middle of Jaegu. She knew the streets like the back of her hand. It was comforting.

No sounds of an infant this time, but a familiar voice- perhaps, her own? It came from a toddler, followed by a grown male's.

"I want to see my real mom."

"Your real mom is gone."

Crying, but not from a newborn. It was high pitched, whining like they missed their parents on their first day of kindergarten.

The sun coming closer and closer, enlarging like it was under the focus of a microscope. It was hot, beads of sweating forming at her temples.

The bright light finally encased her entire vision until everything turned white.

She sat up in her bed, curtains drawn as she looked around the room in perplexity. The house was quiet as everyone was out at either work or school, leaving her alone in the building that didn't feel too much like home.

12:44 p.m.

"Wow, I really slept in." she muttered, stretching her limbs as they recovered from the soreness. Everyone was currently in their classes, leaving her with no one to talk to.

Her loneliness wasn't initially unpleasant, yet as she remembered fragments of the bizarre nightmare, it crept up eerily.

The ringing of her phone was piercing, striking her temples like a thousand needles. Pain was intensified due to her concussion, the reason she was staying home today.

"Hello?" she grumbled, holding her head in discomfort.

"Minseo? Are you awake?" the sound of her stepmother made her eyebrows draw downwards.

"Yeah, I'd assume so." she held back the urge to let her attitude show, grumpy from the extra hours of sleep she didn't mean to get. Yunhee let out an unreadable sigh on the other line.

"Your medicines are all in the cabinet, make sure to eat something before you take them."

"I know."

"And there should be black bean noodles in the fridge, just heat them up on the stove."

"Okay."

"And make sure to drink lots of water and stay off of your phone, we need you to heal well."

"Yeah."

Minseo was too drained to show any more enthusiasm to the woman she was barely close to, hanging up the call as she swallowed the dryness in her throat.
