"It's two in the morning, why are you out?" her words came out more as a sigh, followed with a visible breath.
Resting his foot on the brake, he eyed her up and down.
"I think I should be asking you that." his elbow rested on the rolled down window. "Nice pajamas, you baby."
Minseo's eyes widened at his words, looking down at her pants that were slightly dirtied at the bottom. Holding herself to provide some sort of warmth, she shot him a dirty glare.
"Shut up, I wasn't expecting to go out at this time." she huffed, watching him rub his eyes tiredly in the two door. "Why are you out so late? It's a school night." she questioned.
"I think we both know I don't care about school." a dry chuckle left his lips. "I was at a hangout with my college friends." he shrugged, running his fingers through his messy brown hair.
Minseo pursed her lips together, nodding in response. "You can leave now, I don't know why you pulled over in the first place." her words were mumbled, but loud enough for him to hear over the lowered music from his radio.
"It's not everyday you see a fire shifter out at the river during a full moon."
Hitching her breathing for a moment, the realization hit her at once. "I could say the same to you." she swallowed the lump that formed in her throat, hoping he wouldn't question her any further.
"I already told you my narrative. You really are a weird one, you know." his tone wasn't necessarily annoyed, but bewildered.
Turning back to the railing, she overlooked the water as if he weren't there, making his confusion grow. It was near freezing degrees as she stood in the dead of night, staring into the body that ebbed and flowed.
"Only someone like Seorin would do this shit." he rolled his eyes, pressing a button at the side of his seat to unlock the door.
"Get in, you're gonna freeze to death." Donghyuck called out, making her raise an eyebrow in confusion. Turning on her heel, she paused right in front of the shiny red coupe.
"Why do you always just stand there? You should feel lucky I'm offering you a ride." he scoffed, making her face scrunch up in annoyance.
Hesitantly, she hopped into the front seat, greeted with the comfort of his heater. The warmth surrounded her, making all the goosebumps on her skin sink down.
"Why are you being nice to me?" she spoke up.
Donghyuck scoffed before putting the gear into drive, applying pressure on the accelerator slowly. "Felt like doing charity work today." he grumbled, making her eyes roll.
"Buckle your seatbelt, idiot. Do you really not care about your life?" he hissed, glancing over to her figure at the corner of his eye.
Minseo exhaled deeply before pulling it over her chest. "At this point, maybe not." she murmured, crossing her arms in vexation. An awkward silence fell over them, neither of the two wanting to speak up.
"Where do you live?" Hyuck exhaled, pressing the brakes at a stop sign.
"Misty Moon Lane, second house on the right."
His eyebrows raised in surprise, making a left. "You live next to Seorin, you must be rich." he commented, already knowing the way.
"Not really, just hardworking. I'm guessing you wouldn't know."
Donghyuck scoffed, shaking his head in the slightest. "Say what you want, I'm just selective with the things I care about."
"If selective means you only care about partying and video games, I think that just means you're lazy." Minseo chuckled, leaning against the warmth of his heated leather interior.
"Don't you ever get scared?"
The question took him off guard, flickering over to her tired complexion momentarily. "What's that supposed to mean?"
Shifting in the seat, she examined his side profile that was barely lit from the touchscreen inside of the car. "I've never met someone so careless about their grades, especially someone as smart as you. I just don't get it, how are you not scared of failing?" her words spewed out.
And for once, no snarky remark was heard from him. Pulling up to a familiar street, he parked in front of the said house, which happened to be right across from Seorin's.
"You ask a lot of shit for someone I'm not even friends with." His tone was harsh, no longer holding any sense of care.
Narrowing her eyelids, she glared holes into his cheek. "I was about to thank you for the ride, but now I don't think I will." she muttered, staring into his honey toned skin.
His eyes caught sight of her's, tilting his head to the side. They flickered down to her shirt, reading bold letters in a yellow font.
JAEGU VOLLEYBALL
Minseo froze in his gaze, wondering why he was staring so intensely. Pinching her eyebrows together, she raised a hand to his forehead, flicking the center of it.
"It's rude to stare, especially at a girl's chest." she hissed, crossing her arms as he let out a girlish squeal.
"I wasn't looking at your chest!" Donghyuck threw his head back in frustration, holding it in pain. Stepping out of the car, she shot him a dirty look one last time.
"Weirdo." she grumbled before closing it shut, slipping into her house as soundly as she could.
With an exasperated groan, he sat back into the leather seat in miff. Perhaps it could be the nighttime hours getting to him, or the poor lighting, but his mind couldn't help itself from wondering.
Two in the morning, Jaegu volleyball.
Yet with all the peculiar signs pointing to obscurity, it was the oddly mesmerizing hue of amethyst that shined in her orbs that couldn't shake out of his mind, leaving him flustered for the rest of the evening.
