Shattered Mind: Ahsoka Tano

Chapter 37

     Kix bent down next to the deceased senator. He placed a hand on the boy's neck.

" Looks to me that he hasn't been dead for more than a day." Kix confirmed. He took out a small device and held it up to the corpse's face.

" Well, who is he?" Rex questioned. The kid looked somewhat familiar, but with the blood covering his face it was a little hard to tell exactly who it was.

" Once sec- according to the facial reader, this is one of the senator from Onderon...Lux Bonteri." Kix finished reading the screen and looked up to see Rex with his fist clenched. 

" What's wrong with you?" Kix waved his hand in front of his Captain's face as he stared menacingly at the body on the ground.

" Lux Bonteri?" he spat, " That's the kid who kidnapped Ahsoka in the first place. General Skywalker and I found a rerecording of him...doing something to the Commander. I don't know what exactly, but I can assure you it was against her will." he hated that holo recording and if he were being honest, he was glad Lux was dead.

Rex sighed, " So if he's here, then do you think that Death Watch turned on him?"

" That doesn't seem right." he checked all the visible wounds. " Yes, there are some blaster shots, but there is also a what looks to be a stab wound."

" From a lightsaber?"

Kix nodded. " We already know that Akorra was working with Death Watch, so maybe this senator was working with them as well, I mean there would be no other reason for someone like him to abduct Commander Tano if not being promised something in return." he concluded.

" That somehow makes sense, I'll comm the General. I can't say he'll be happy about this." he muttered.

Rex lifted his wrist to his mouth. " General Skywalker?"

" Rex. No luck up here. Have you and Kix found anything?"  he sounded desperate.

" Actually, Sir, we did. Although I'm not sure you're going to like it."

" I'll be right down." he abruptly hung up.

It wasn't even five minutes later when Anakin, Dogma, and Echo came running into the holding.

" What did you find Captain..." Anakin stopped talking when he saw Lux laying dead on the floor. He couldn't help but smile at appearance of the Separatist.

" Err, who is that?" Dogma asked, making a disgusted face.

" Lux Bonteri." Anakin said harshly. " Let's just say he's lucky to be dead, because if he were alive, I would have-" 

" General?" Echo lifted an eyebrow giving his superior officer a look.

" Alright, well he's dead so, we're at a dead end now." he grumbled.

Kix pipped up. " Actually, Sir, I think that this brings us a step closer to finding Commander Tano." 

" Really? How so?" 

Kix told him his hypothesis. Anakin nodded his head. It made perfect sense. If Lux had died not even twenty four hours ago, then they weren't far behind from Ahsoka.

" Good job Kix. Let's get going before we lose anymore valuable time." 

Anakin lead his division out of the building. He had more hope.
