"They found you." Governor Roshti trembled.
Ahsoka's head snapped to the direction of the door.
" Fives, go with the Governor out back. See if there is a way out." Ahsoka ordered.
Fives nodded and guided him away from the front of the house.
" So Commander, whats the plan?" Rex asked readying this twin blasters.
Ahsoka panicked. She didn't know what to do in the moment.
Why now? Why here!? Out of all the other times, now I can't think of anything? she internally screamed.
" Uh, get to the side. We'll wait for them to come in and then attack." Ahsoka stood on one side of the door while Rex was on the other. Just as she had thought, the door was soon pushed in.
What she didn't expect was there to be so many droids.
The started to fire rapidly at her and Rex. They both took out multiple, but more kept trickling in every time they thought that was the last of them.
" There's too many of them!" Rex yelled as he was being cornered into the wall.
" Rex!" Ahsoka cried as he went out of view from the amount of B1 droids surrounding him.
With a few smooth strokes of her emerald green sabers, she sliced four of the clanker's heads clean off.
" Rex!" she yelled again rushing over to aid him.
" I'm okay!" Rex called from in the swarm of metal although his voice was strained. Ahsoka cut down the remaining droids surrounding him.
Rex tiredly placed one of his blasters back on his holster. He clutched one of his shoulders tightly with a pained expression on his face.
" You got shot?" Ahsoka gasped.
This is all my fault. If I had seen them, or helped him sooner none of this would have happened.
" It's just a scratch." Rex grimaced, but was still able to smile for his Commander.
" I'm sorry Rex, I should have helped you sooner." Ahsoka guiltily looked down at her feet.
" Its not your fault little'un. There was no way of telling how many of them clankers were coming." he assured her.
But is is my fault.
" Come on, we should go find Fives."
" Right... Fives?" she said into her comm waiting for a response. For a moment there was nothing but silence, but then she heard the sound of Five's voice. He sounded frantic.
" Commander? Commander!" Come quick. Its Governor Roshti!" he yelled.
Ahsoka was numb. What could have possibly happened. All the worst thoughts went through her mind.
" Where are you?" she asked.
" We're just down the street." he responded with a saddened tone.
Ahsoka and Rex bolted down the road and saw Fives cradling the older Togruta in his arms.
" I'm sorry Commander. Th-there was a sniper, I didn't see em." Fives explained nervously.
Ahsoka's gaze was glued to the dead governor.
I was supposed to protect them. Now because of me Governor Roshti is dead, Rex is inured and Fives feels horrible. I failed all of them.
Ahsoka bent down and closed Roshti's glazed eyes so he looked as if he were just in a long peaceful sleep.
" What happens now? He was the most powerful leader. Without him, the whole village is going to be at a loss." Ahsoka thought aloud.
" We should report back to General Skywalker. I'm sure he has a plan." Rex suggested.
Ahsoka nodded in agreement. She took the late Governor from Fives and carried him back to the woods to have a proper burial for him.
Anakin watched as three figures came through the thick brush towards the ship.
When they got closer he could tell something was very wrong. Ahsoka was holding something in her arms.
His heart sank when he could clearly see who it it was.
" The separatist are here." was all Ahsoka said after carefully placing the body of her people's leader down on a pile of fresh leaves.
He watched as she punched the side of the ship with all of her might. He heard her let out a small yelp as she went aboard the ship.
" You should go talk to her." Rex said from behind him.
" What if she doesn't talk to me?" Anakin asked unsure of himself.
" I think that she just needs someone to be with her at the moment sir." Rex advised.
Anakin took his captain's advice and quickly followed her onto the ship back to the cockpit.
She was tenderly messaging her wrist.
" Hi Master." she said with no emotion.
" Here let me Snips." Anakin started to remove her glove on her left arm to check to see its condition.
She pulled her arm away, " It's fine Master."
" Ahsoka, I need to see if it's sprained or broken. Please, let me help you." his eyes pleaded.
" I said I was-" Before she could comprehend what was happening Anakin had gingerly taken her wrist and pulled her glove off.
" Master- I can explain!"
Anakin was absolutely mortified.
