ANDRIETTE LOUISE DE VERA
Parking at my usual parking space, which would probably be occupied by someone else when I leave. I sauntered towards the building.
As usual, people greeted and bowed their heads. But some of my other colleagues took some time to have a genuine conversation with me. Some wished me Good luck and that they're happy that I'll get to represent the agency as one of the best agents.
Some were a bit sadder though, specifically speaking, my students.
Just before they left the building, I managed to call them. They were happy, but once they figured out why I was there, they all turned into small whimpering puppies.
"Mam? Do you really have to take your stuff with you?" Jax asked as my students piled around me while I took the contents of my locker and put it in a box.
"Well, Agent Beck would have to have a locker when he takes over. Yes, I need to take my things" I said and smiled sadly at them.
"And you don't need to call me mam anymore." I said as I took the boxes in my arms. I didn't look at them. I couldn't stomach the looks on their faces.
"Just because you're not our trainer anymore doesent change the fact that you're our superior." another one of my students piped up.
"Still. You should start addressing agent Beck as sir. Treat him with utmost respect. And don't forget everything that I've taught you once I leave okay? Agent Back needs to have some sort of starting point when he takes over."
"Goodbye, kids. I'm officially signing off as your trainor" I gave them a soft smile. They gave me one back. But I could see some of my trainee's lips were shaking. I sighed and forced an even brighter smile on my face.
"Cheer up. Hopefully, I'll be able to visit here. I can't promise anything though." I gave them each a pat in the head.
I gave them a final goodbye. It did seem that I was leaving for good. It was like I was leaving everything behind. It was a scary feeling. But I couldn't show that to my former students. Getting a new instructor is hard. It's another process of trusting another person once again. And I've known them for 9 years, nine and a half to be exact. Agent Beck would be having a hard time. That's for sure.
I left the locker rooms while they proceeded to the training rooms. I could feel some of them sparring me glances as they walked further and further away. It made me smile a bit. The silent hallway made my footsteps echo a little louder than it should, making it seem like I was walking in an endless cave. A cave that I won't be entering any time soon.
Agent De Vera, you are expected at the Director's office. I repeat, Agent De Vera, you are expected at the Director's office.
The speakers blasted through the whole agency. Confusion momentarily blinded me. The Director didn't tell me we were having a meeting today. I stopped by the front of the Agency and have a friend guard my belongings for a bit before proceeding to the Director's office.
"You called for me, Director?" I said when I entered the Director's office. It was spacious, but it felt kind of small once you were inside. Book cases and cabinets were everywhere. Most likely where impotent files were stored.
"I just want to tell you that your job starts tommorow. Come in my office at 8:00 am sharp. Remember the disguise" he said in his usual but intimidatingly low voice.
"Yes, Director. Is that all?" I asked, my feet already pivoted towards the door.
"Sit down, Louise. I'm not finished yet" I recognized that the voice didn't belong to the Director, instead, it belonged to my papa's friend, uncle Adam Scott.
