ANDRIETTE LOUISE DE VERA

It's not like I hated the staff.

But I also didn't like them, either.

The moment after Mr. De Leon said those words, I Instantly received glares. The reason?

I don't fucking know.

They were mostly females though. You get the idea why they're staring at me like they want to murder me.

As for the males?
They're probably gay.

He wasted no time in reciprocating his staff's greetings. Instead, he dashed towards the elevators with Jake and Jay in tow. I walked behind them, not sparing the curious and burning eyes of the people around me.

Jake instantly pressed floor 70, making me think he's probably Mr. De Leon's assistant or something.
It took a while for us to reach the 70th floor. But when we did, Mr. De Leon was instantly on the move. Gone was the arrogant, and playful client I had seen so far.

This  was the real Mr. De Leon. The one on the headlines. The one who'se made all his success possible. This  De Leon is the real deal.

He entered an office. His office, I assume. His two friends followed like lost puppies, following their masters wish. When I saw them disappear behind the ridiculously huge door, I stood infront of it. Like the guard I am supposed to be.

Hours ticked by when I caught something moving from the corner of my eye. Only to realise that it was a female dressed in formal clothes.

Mr. De Leon's secretary.

She was staring at me curiously. Like how a child would ask what 'death' means. She's utterly innocent.
The innocence in her eyes strangely enraptured me. Almost putting me in a trance like state. It made me soft.

It made me want to protect it. Protect her.
Because deep down I knew, I wanted to protect her innocence. Something that has been forcefully ripped out of me.

"Hello"

It took me a moment to register that she was talking to me. I raised my onyx eyes to greet her own brown, mellow ones.

"Would you like a seat?" Her gentle voice was music to my ears. It honestly made me smile under the irritating mask.

I might just be turning gay.

"Oh! I'm sorry! You're probably weirded out now. I'm Madeline. I just noticed that you've been standing there for hours now. Would you like to take a seat for a moment?"

It wasn't like I didn't want to reply. I did. She made me want to throw my professionalism away and be her friend instead. But I didn't get the chance to answer her when the door behind me abruptly opened.
Instantly, I stepped aside. The men inside filed out. Mr. De Leon was out last, he glanced at his watch as he walked.

"You guys are out early" Surprise momentarily engulfed me, but not enough for my emotions to pass through my heavily guarded eyes.

How could a secretary speak so casually to her colleagues and boss?

My question was instantly answered when Jake wrapped his hands around Madeline. A smile on his face as he planted a kiss on her forehead.

Oh.

Okay then.

"We finished everything last week. We just came here to make sure every deal is good and taken cared off" Jake answered softly. A tone that I haven't heard him use for anyone.

Until now.

"Madeline, I want you to clear all of our schedules for the afternoon." Mr. De Leon cut in smoothly.

" We're going out for lunch"

It's a short chap. But I promise the next one would be longer. It's for the sake of the (none existent) plot. Thank you for reading my story!
