ANDRIETTE LOUISE DE VERA

The police had great timing when it comes to arriving.

I will forever be in their debt.

The police barging in gave me an excuse to not answer Mr. De Leon. I immediately turned around and made my way towards the group of officers. Clean up crews, that's what we call them. They dragged all the bodies away one by one. The man that was gasping minutes ago was now being held up by two officers.

"Agent De Vera, I should've known it was you." I laughed and faced the owner of the voice.

"Ah, officer Cruz. Nice to see you again. Though, the scenes we always meet at never seem to change."

Officer Cruz was one of the many officers I know. They are the first responders when someone calls their station. Police and Agents aren't typically seen with each other, but we have been associated too many times for our 'relationship' to remain as 'strictly professional nobodies' .

It now got upgraded to 'strictly professional friends'

"We can meet outside of work if you want?" I laughed once again and punched him jokingly at the shoulder.

"So, was it only you?" officer Cruz asked as he gestured around the place, a pen and notebook in hand.

"Yes. 9 dead. 10 in total. I do have a request though." he looked at me patiently, a small smile on his face and I continued.

"I kept one of them alive, and I want him. For interrogation purposes." they were always in charge when it came to interrogation. I knew that. But something in my gut told me that this man would benefit me.

"I trust you, Louise. But can I ask why? You never take anyone for interrogation."

"I really can't give a solid answer to that. But it's a gut feeling." he eyed me for a moment, scrutinizing me.

"Okay. But we'll take him to the station first for questioning. Then you can have him. I'll just call someone to deliver him to your agency. Is that okay?" I gave him a full nod and thanked him sincerely.

I watched as they dragged the squirming and cussing man outside the store. Thankfully, all of the bodies have been dragged out and none of the civilians were injured.

"You did well Louise. One against ten? Impressive." Officer Cruz awed.

"It's no big deal. I better get going now, if you're finished with the questioning?" I raised a brow.

"Yes. All done. Thanks Louise. Oh and I've heard about your colleague . Cameron Black. I'm truly sorry. I send my deep condolences to the agency and the family." I froze for a moment and gave him a curt nod. He gave me a sympathetic smile in return and walked away, joining his fellow officers.

I looked behind my back and caught Jay's eyes. I gestured them to follow me. We all left the crime scene I had caused and exited the mall. I quickened my pace when I saw civilians staring at me and my semi bloody attire.

Ugh. I stink.

I really considered changing into something clean but I have kept the Director waiting for far too long. My family was probably there as well. I entered the car and slammed the door shut. When I was sure everyone was seated and secure, I backed out of the parking lot and drove towards the De Leon mansion.

"Where are we going?"

"I'm taking you home, sir." I looked at him for a second.

"There's no need, Louise. Go to your agency. We'll wait for you there."
