ANDRIETTE LOUISE DE VERA
"What the fuck!"
"Maddie!"
"Louise!"
"De Vera!"
I think all of you could figure out who's who.
"A sniper" I breathed a little in slight relief when Jake took Madeline and hugged her tight, releasing a bit of preassure on my wound
"You were shot" Jay deadpanned. Making me wonder if he was mad at me for getting shot or dissapointed at my lack of awareness.
"I'm fine" everyone probably knew it was a lie. So I stood up straighter, biting back a whimper.
"What happened?"
"Your father is going to be mad" Senior and Mr. De Leon said at the same time.
"A sniper. Probably an assasin. It was aiming for Madeline" I leaned on the wall. I did had worst than this. This was just a mere bullet wound. So small and simple. But the difference was, I was alone when I got more than one bullet shot at me. I was alone when I was tortured in Germany. I was alone when I was almost hangged in Afganistan. I was alone. It gave me a sense of independency. And it made the situation a whole lot easier. An extra person was just a burden. Another body you had to protect, leaving your own vulnerable.
And it was harder to conserve energy with a screaming Madeline in tow.
"You took the bullet for me?" Madeline asked. Voice small.
"Well, why did you think I jumped at you? To wrestle?" I didn't mean to snap at her, but blood loss makes you do weird things.
Duh.
"Thank you for saving her" Jake said and carried Madeline, probably in a room.
M'kay then. Leave me here to bleed out. Cool.
I groaned aloud and made my way upstairs, muttering a "I'll just get myself cleaned"
I stumbled through the hallways, still cluthing my side. I was out of it. I probably looked like someone drunk out of their right mind. I was so out of it that I didn't notice another pair of foosteps following mine.
I barely managed to open the door. But when I did, I plopped myself on the bed and catched my breath. I could feel the blood seeping through the sheets. But I was in too much pain to move.
"Don't lay like that. It'll make you loose more blood" I opened my eyes closed them again, not bothering to move.
"What are you doing here?" I muttered
"Saving your life" Jay grumbled back. I felt him draw nearer and I tensed.
"Look. We need to clean your wound now. It can and would get infected if we don't clean it now"
He groaned and huffed when I didn't move. For a while, I didn't hear a sound. And I honestly thought he finally left me to rest in peace when I felt something breathing down my face. I opened my eyes to see Jay, only centimeters away from touching my face with his. Well, my masked face.
"What the fu-"
"You asked for it" He cut me off. Then I felt myself being lifted off the bed for a few seconds, instantly making pain spread on my side like wildfire.
I groaned out, my fingers instinctively curling around something soft to find some sort of comfort.
And It appeared to be Jay's hair.
