ANDRIETTE LOUISE DE VERA
"Are you ready?" I asked the girl infront of me . She stared back at me with an emotion I know so well; fear. Her dark eyes were swirling with emotions, her pink lips were in a frown, and her brows were furrowed.
This girl is the girl that my family knows. This is the soft little soul under the hard, cold exterior of the monster I transform when I'm in work mode.
This is me.
I closed my eyes and let out a breath. When I opened them, I no longer see the innocent, bubbly girl In the mirror In front of me. Instead, I see the strong, cold woman infront that I had grown to love. She has no emotion present in her face, not a single detail to give away the flurry of blackness that swirled within her person. Her eyes were blank and bland but it had this unmistakable sharpness to It, a reminder that she should not be messed with.
And I liked this side of me better.
I secured my mask on my face with my gloved hand. I twirled my hair into a tight, professional bun and straightened the invisible creases that my uniform obtained from getting ready.
I'm ready.
I walked out of my room, down the stairs, and into the living room where Mama and Papa were waiting. Andrei and Aria were nowhere to be seen, their absence caused by their jobs that waited for them.
"Take care anak" my mama hugged me to her chest. I didn't know why she was being extra emotional but I hugged her back.
I made eye contact with Papa and he gave me a nod. His eyes told everything that he needed to say.
Take care. I love you
"Don't worry Mama. I'm just a bodyguard for now. It won't be that hard" I pulled back from the hug and softened my eyes for her. She nodded her head as her mouth pulled into a small frown and bid me goodbye one last time.
Exiting the house, I walked towards my motorbike and turned it on. I fitted my helmet snugly on my head and revved the bike a few times. A single prayer was all it took for me to let my senses run free, shooting towards the exit of our estate without a single trace left behind.
_I parked my bike on my usual parking spot. I walked towards the agency with confidence oozing out of every pore on my body. My presence was begging for attention.
And attention, I garnered.
I made no effort to glance at my colleagues as today wasn't like most days. They know. Everybody knows how I change drastically once a mission is given to me. They may have no idea what it Is, seeing as the higher rank agents would only be the ones informed, but they had this blinding smiles on their faces as to show their support.
I didn't know why, but a nagging feeling at the back of my head told me that this would be more serious than my usual missions.
It couldn't be nerves. I don't get nervous. I don't get intimidated. And I'm sure as hell that I'm not scared. Once I'm in this facade, I'll be the most inhumane human you'll ever come across.
Knocking on the door, I entered when I heard the faint come in from the other side. Director took notice of my gloves and mask and nodded in approval.
"Mr. De Leon I present to you my best agent, Agent De Vera"
I looked at the man across from me. He was tall. Around 6 feet. He was wearing a black suit, a calm mask plastered on his face. I noticed that he wasn't lanky and thin, whatever you call it. He was actually pretty muscular.
