It had been a few days and my dad has taken us to a junkyard/car lot(I'm not sure what it is). I looked around and it seemed kinda sketchy and dangerous with different parts sticking out everywhere.
"You've trained hard. You've gotten stronger, tougher, faster. You've done your best. You're ready for this tournament am I right?" My dad asked us.
"YES, SENSEI!" we screamed back.
"WRONG!" my dad replied. He then threw down an alcohol bottle at us and we all scurried out of the way. "Your best ain't shit", he told us.
"If you wanna win the All Valley Under-18 karate Tournament, you gotta give me better than your best.", he continued. "Which is why from now on, you're gonna get my worst. Do you understand?", he asked us while pacing up and down an old bus.
"YES SENSEI!", we yelled back.
"Are you losers?", he asked.
"NO SENSEI!", we replied.
"Are you nerds?" My dad asked another question. Jesus, how many more.
"NO, SENSEI!", we continued.
"Are you sure?", he asked.
"NO SENSEI", they replied at the same time I said "YES SENSEI". They turned and gave me a look to which I just chuckled at. Idiots. My dad put his face into his hands and it made me laugh harder.
He now had us doing drills and we were running through old tires. "Move those feet!", he commanded. "Your enemies are all around you. Destroy them!", he said.
We had moved on to destroying cars and anything we could really find. I was with Miguel and Eli. We ran around braking windows on the cars and banging our weapons that we found in the junkyard on the side of the cars. This was fun.
He had us going back and forth between drills from the tires, to "destroying our enemies", and then to walking over a pile of sharp metal on a wooden board.
We were back at the tires and we were doing good until Aisha tripped and fell. Miguel then fell on her and I followed and landed on Miguel's back. Eli then fell on top of me and everyone ended up in a big pile. I felt Eli shift uncomfortably and my face got really red at what I just felt on my... well my ass. I swear I was as red as tomato and he kept apologizing really quietly in my ear. I laughed and told him it was fine. But god damn was it embarrassing.
"You wanna win, you gotta be hungry. You guys hungry?", my dad asked us. He had us standing in the middle of the junkyard now.
"Yes, Sensei", we replied. "Good, 'cause so are they", he said. What the hell did he mean by that? My dad blew a whistle and I heard dogs barking. Oh shit. I knew exactly what was coming and immediately took off. I ran until I found a car to jump on top of. I saw Eli running but he was struggling to get on top of a truck and the dog was right behind him and bit him. Ouch.
