The next day after the fight, there was a whole bunch of teens in the dojo wanting to learn karate. This was absolutely amazing. And all because the students recorded it and some saw it. My dad is really happy. He's been wanting a full dojo for a while and we really needed the money to keep this place going.
Me, Miguel, and Aisha were warming up together. Doing stretches and punching into hands, waiting for class to start. I saw Eli, Dem, and Brianna were here. I had a good feeling about this.
"Ok, today we begin.." my dad said but no one was paying attention. Everyone was still talking and on their phones. "QUIET!", my dad yelled. Everyone immediately shut up and looked at him. That's better.
"Face front.", my dad told everyone. He then started to walk around and observe everyone. I knew he was going to end up making fun of a lot of them. It's what he does. He's still stuck in the freaking 80s. "Nice shirt", he said to Demetri.
"Thanks.", Demetri replied with a slight smile on his face. "Joking, it sucks", my dad finished. Yep. I called it. Demetri's face fell and I felt really bad. Brianna's face fell too. "Word of advice, if you got shit for teeth, don't smile.", he said to a kid in the back. Jeez dad. You're gonna scare them all away.
"God, makes me feel like a virgin, just looking at you.", he said to a short kid. I laughed but quickly covered it with a cough when Miguel hit my arm. I gave him a slight glare for that.
"When I look around this dojo, I don't see Cobra Kai material. I see losers, I see nerds, I see a fat kid with a funny hat and his tits popping out.", my dad said. I had to cover my laugh with my hand at the last three words of his sentence. Not the time Adelaide, not the time. "But in my short time as a sensei, I've also seen some miracles. So, maybe there's some hope for you yet.", he continued. Miguel, Aisha, and me smiled at that, knowing all three of us have come a long way. Especially Aisha with how fast she's learning in such a short amount of time.
"But first I need to see where you're at. So everybody, fall in!", he called out. They just stood there looking around, clueless as to what "fall in" meant. "That means line up.", I said, trying to help my dad out. They all went to get into lines behind the three of us. Still not knowing what we meant. I see Eli right behind me and turn to him. "Hey E. I'm really glad you're here.", I told him quickly. He smiled at me. "Thanks Addy, I'm glad to be here too.", I smiled at that. This will be good for him. I have a feeling he will gain some confidence from this. Oh boy was I about to find out in the next day or two.
"No, not... not line up in a line.", my dad said , clearly getting frustrated at them. "Lines, get in lines.", he kept going. I saw the confusion still in their eyes . "You mean like, rows?", Demetri asked. Ah yes. There it is. You finally got it Demetri.
"Ugh", my dad sighed and put his face into his hands. I giggled at that. This was going to be a long day.
