"I know. I'm sorry, Bobby. I screwed up. Just tell Robby I'll make things right... okay fine I'll tell himself. I gotta go, Bob. Bye." My dad said and hung up the phone. We were currently at the hospital to see Miguel. Well, more for my dads sake really. We walked towards his nurse.
"How'd the surgery for Miguel Diaz go? Is he doing okay?" My dad asked her.
"He's awake. A little out of it, but healing." She replied.
"Good. So he can walk again?"
"It doesn't work like that. Time will tell how successful the surgery was, but... I can take you in there if you'd like. I'm sure he'd love to see you." She said to him. Meh. I don't know about that last part. My dad sat there contemplating the idea.
"No, he needs to be with his family." My dad said. He chickened out. He walked off and I sighed. Idiot.
"Dad, where are you going?" I asked him as I caught up with him.
"To see Robby. You should come with me. You haven't seen him since the whole thing." He said as we walked out of the hospital. It was true. I haven't seen him since that day.
I've been meaning to go see him but haven't gotten the courage to. I guess now is a good time. "Okay... I'll go with you."
We got into my car, he didn't want to go in his new van, and he drove us to the place Robby was volunteering today. Uncle Bobby gave us the details.
We pulled into the parking lot and my dad sat there for a minute. "Come on, Dad. It's time you face him. He'll most likely be angry with you for not showing up the other day."
"I know, Addy. I know. Let's just go in. I don't need another lecture especially not one from my daughter." He said and got out of the car. I rolled my eyes at his last comment.
We walked in and got in line with the rest of the people there. It was the only way we'd be able to talk to him for the day.
We got up to where he was. "Hey, Robby." My dad said and Robby looked up surprised.
"You're not supposed to be here." Robby replied. Saw that coming.
"It's the only way I could see you. Found out you're doing community service to try to get out early. That's good. I respect that. Is that a black eye?" My dad asked. I finally noticed too and began to worry. What were these boys doing to him? And what caused it all?
"Are you fighting in there after everything that's happened?" I finally spoke up. Robby turned to me, obviously not seeing I was there. His face softened slightly. "She's right, Robby. You shouldn't be getting yourself into trouble." My dad said.
"You're seriously gonna lecture me about starting fights?" Robby asked him.
"You're right. I'm sorry. I just wanna say I screwed up and I know-" My dad started but Robby cut him off.
