Chapter 37 | After the Fall

Fear. One emotion that is currently consuming their system as they stare to the creature in front of them. Hindi sila natatakot na mamatay, dahil sa una pa lang ay alam nila nang puro kapahamakan ang naghihintay sa kanila at puwede silang mamatay sa bawat misyong ibigay sa kanila ng hari at reyna. Natatakot lang sila dahil may mga taong naghihintay sa kanilang pagbabalik, marami ang naniniwala sa kanilang kakahayahan at ayaw nilang sirain iyon.

The creature roared once more and they knew that it was the perfect time to escape and run. Hindi na sila nagpatumpak-tumpak pa at sabay-sabay nilang tinalon ang waterfall. They don’t know if they can survive the fall, but they’re praying that they would.

“AAAHHH!” Their screams were the only one that are heard before their body smashed the water that is waiting for them from below.

Napapikit na lang ng madiin si Lemon noong malakas na tumama ang kaniyang katawan sa tubig. When the water finally sucked her body, she then felt like her body was smashed into pieces. Wala siyang lakas para lumangoy upang iligtas ang kaniyang sarili kasi nanghihina siya dahil sa pagbagsak niya.

Her body couldn’t take the impact because she wasn’t ready yet. She had no time to ready herself when she is still on the ground because Angel just pulled her to jump. At ng dahil sa gulat at pagkataranta ay hindi niya na nagawang makapag-isip ng tama.

Seconds later, as the water continued to suck her down into the depths of it, she opened her eyes when she suddenly felt nothing but the embrace of the water on her skin. She couldn’t move to save herself. Unti-unti na rin siyang nawawalan ng hangin pero wala siyang magawa, hindi talaga kaya ng katawan niyang gumalaw.

‘So, this is my end,’ she thought before a small smile slowly plastered on her face. ‘Tss… I thought I could avenge her.’

Sunod niyang naramdaman na unti-unting bumabalik ang dating kulay ng kaniyang mga mata dahil hindi niya na suot ang salamin niyang nagtatago no’n. Mukhang natanggal ito noong bumagsak siya sa tubig. Napangiti na lang siya ulit nang maramdaman niyang naubusan na talaga siya ng hangin.

She was about to close her eyes and was about to cry because she thought that is was her end but sadly, it was interrupted when someone slightly pulled her up by grabbing both of her waist. And after that, a pair of hands suddenly cupped her cheeks and before she open her eyes again to see it, she felt something soft touched her lips.

Before she could react, the hands that our cupped on her cheeks tightened and that something that touched her lips, forcefully opened it to give her enough air.

Nakatitig si Angel sa maliwanag na kalangitan nang may pagtatakhang nakakalat sa kaniyang sistema. Hindi niya na pinansin ang pagha-habol niya ng kaniyang hininga dahil mas nangingibabaw ang pagtatakha niya. Sa totoo lang ay lahat sila ay nakatingin sa kalangitan at nababalot ang kanilang sistema ng kaguluhan at pagtatakha.

They felt the heat that they’re longing to feel as the sun shine brushed their skin. The sky’s blue hue and the white and slightly blue hue of the clouds are as amazing as ever when partnered with the sun. The fresh wind that touched their skin, whispering to their ears, and made their hair move a little just felt comforting… and the trees that surrounds them — hmmm… feels good!

Words cannot describe how beautiful the scenery is, so, they just remained silent and enjoyed the moment with their lips gaped in awe.

Habol-habol ni Rain ang kaniyang hininga habang nakaupo siya sa damuhan na malapit sa waterfall na kung saan sila tumalon. She then looked at her friends that are also sitting on the ground while their clothes are wet, staring at the sky.
