Anne sat in the fire lit living room of the Blythe home, writing up lesson plans for next week while her daughter was asleep in her room and her husband was sitting at the piano. Joyce's bedtime began the few hours of quiet time the couple had before they went to bed themselves. Typically, it was either spent working or enjoying each other's company.

Being in her first trimester, Anne was deep in her hormonal rollercoaster. She was able to control it a bit easier in one sense considering she had gone through it before, but in another sense, it was worse than ever. She wouldn't even tell Gilbert about how afraid she was. She considered getting pregnant with Joyce to be impossible at the time, and now that she's pregnant again, she is terrified that it is too good to be true.

Anne hadn't even noticed that a tear had fallen onto her lesson plans.

"Anne-girl," came Gilbert's voice, making her snap out of her thoughts and look up at him. "Come over here."

Subtly wiping her eyes, Anne set her plans to the side and walked over, sitting next to him on the piano bench. "What is it?"

Gilbert smiled and kissed her hand. "You know how you have been teasing me about writing a song for you?"

She chuckled. "Yes, why?"

Wordlessly, he smiled before beginning to play the piano.

She listened in stunned silence as he began singing.

Breathe deep, breathe clear
Know that I'm here, know that I'm here
Waiting
Stay strong, stay gold
You don't have to fear, you don't have to fear
Waiting
I'll see you soon, I'll see you soon

How could a heart like yours ever love a heart like mine?
How could I live before?
How could I have been so blind?
You opened up my eyes
You opened up my eyes

Sleep sound, sleep tight
Here in my mind, here in my mind
Waiting
Come close, my dear
You don't have to fear, you don't have to fear
Waiting
I'll see you soon, I'll see you soon

How could a heart like yours ever love a heart like mine?
How could I live before?
How could I have been so blind?
You opened up my eyes
You opened up my eyes

Hold fast hope
All your love is all I've ever known
Hold fast hope
All your love is all I've ever known

How could a heart like yours ever love a heart like mine?
How could I live before?
How could I have been so blind.
You opened up my eyes
You opened up my eyes

You opened up my eyes
You opened up my eyes

As the song finished, Anne realized she had been staring at Gilbert the entire time, her heart and soul completely overwhelmed with love for this perfect man of hers.

Playing the last note, he slowly turned to look at her, seeming surprised that she was already staring at him so intensely.

Without a word, she leaned in and kissed him with all the love she could possibly give him. She was shocked she wasn't balling her eyes out.

Once they pulled away, they stared at each other for a moment, their faces inches apart

"I love you so much," she whispered.

He smiled, but she didn't give him a chance to respond before pulling him in again.
