I tried the best I could to walk down the stairs as quiet as I could, although they were wooden and the ceiling was open since they were only leading from the loft area down to the apartment. I had looked over the side and my ears weren't deceiving me, Taehyung was standing down in the kitchen in front of Jungkook.
"Uh, I think she's asleep right now." Jungkook said.
I then turned the corner to be standing in front of them. I was wearing sweat shorts and tube socks along with a sweatshirt that could be a dress. It was Jaspers that I had brought along with me, taking my well needed nap in it. "I'm awake."
Jungkook seemed a little uncomfortable whereas Taehyung seemed relieved to see me, but his demeanor was just as icy as it always was. His broad shoulders kept their intimidating demeanors and his hair still in his eyes and over his forehead.
"I came to talk to you." Taehyung said.
Jungkook seemed to catch a hint that Taehyung probably didn't want him there, and he spoke up. "I think I'm going to go for a walk."
I didn't want to be here alone with Taehyung, it was awkward enough that this callous boy just standing in my apartment. "Actually we'll go on a walk." This seemed like the best solution considering Jungkook had already taken a long walk already today, he needed to relax some.
"Alright, I'll stay then." Jungkook sort of laughed then walked past me, going up to our room area to leave only Taehyung and I by ourselves.
It was only August in New York so the weather wasn't too bad, but there was still a breeze at all time and I hadn't really been out at night except for when I was drunk so I didn't know how to dress. Taehyung was dressed in a white knitted sweater and brown slacks, which didn't give me any indication. I just grabbed Jungkook's button up black jacket that was sitting on a chair near the door and slid it on before sliding his oversized slides on.
"Where are we walking?" I asked him, looking up at him now that I was ready.
He had sort of a smile on his face looking at my outfit, but it went away after I talked. "You were the one who said we were going to go for a walk."
I sighed because he technically was right, turning the handle on the door and leading the way out.
The walk to the elevator and then down then out the door to my building and finally onto the busy New York sidewalk was silent. It wasn't as uncomfortable as it should have been, both of us just not having anything to really say.
The lights in New York seemed brighter in this moment and the path we were now walking seemed to open up for us, the people sort of scattering away from us.
"So why did you come to my apartment?"
I didn't bother to turn and look at him because I could paint a photo in my mind of the blank stare he was wearing, that he always wore. "I can't just stop by?"
I laughed, not with him but at him. "Why don't you ever answer my questions?"
His eyes were burning into the side of my face now and I could see it out of the corner of my eye, making me turn to make our eyes meet. "I do answer them."
The sigh I now let out was more dramatic than any of them had been. It was now I was learning how exhausting it was to be around Taehyung, as well as why his friend's didn't know a single thing about him.
I decided I'd just ask him a question he could answer, one he didn't feel the need to avoid. "Where is your favorite place to go here?"
His eyebrows furrowed and he looked away from me and in front of him, he seemed to be thinking about this answer. "Bryant Park."
