A raindrop hit my head and my hand instantly went up to block it, and to make sure I wasn't crazy.
"You felt that, too?" Jungkook asked while looking towards me.
"Yes, oh my god." I tried to brush the wet off with my hand but more small droplets fell.
We were on our walk but had picked stuff up for dinner, Jungkook was carrying them and I was carrying our bottled tea's. Jungkook was lucky and wearing warm and comfy attire, I was wearing a skirt with boots and a sheer long sleeve top.
"We just have 10 more minutes." He said and both my hands stayed up to block my hair that was down but now becoming more wavy.
"Mm." I said, just letting him know I heard.
"The big party is next weekend."
"What party?" I asked.
I wasn't avoiding looking at him, I just hadn't looked his way yet, I just felt weird right now. I felt like this moment I was ruining his relationship and hurting Stella. I felt his eyes on me though. "Laurel's. Johnny's girlfriend. The big black tie ball. It's supposed to be nice as hell."
"Stella mentioned that." I looked up and the sky was just getting darker.
I felt my phone vibrate and when I checked it quickly it was just a message from Namjoon. Then another. But I just ignored it. I'll read it and answer when we're home and not getting rained on.
"Are you going? You can come with us, all together."
"No-" I said quickly.
"Why not?" He pushed.
"I said no." My walking was faster, trying to get away from the rain making my hair frizzy like I feared it would.
His hand pinched a part of my shirt, pulling me back a little since I was so ahead of him. He kept walking and released me but now we were aligned. "What's bothering you, Jo?"
"Nothing. I'm just irritated by the rain."
"Then don't think about it." He took a second to speak again. "Okay, would you rather spend all your money on-"
"Jungkook can we please just get home first."
Jungkook knew me better than to think the rain was irritating me so much. It was excruciating not to bring up what Stella and I talked about yesterday but I knew I had to wait for her to bring it up. I would once again be over stepping my boundaries if I said something first. "Did something else happen with Tae?"
"No." I had told him about the party but not too many details...because I didn't remember too many details. But then we didn't talk in detail until I picked him up from the train station.
"Then what? Did you fight with Stella?"
I sighed. My hair was much more wet than I expected it to be, so I slicked it back just trying to think of what to say. "No, Stella and I are good."
I felt his arm go around my shoulder and he tugged me into him, inside his leather jacket was warm but not completely dry. When my shoulder hit the inside of it I felt ad about this situation. "Well, when you want to tell me I'm ready to listen." I didn't know what to say until he released me, then he walked ahead of me. His head turning back around and his long thick hair sticking to his face. "I'll race you back."
A race for him was speed walking, I knew he was going to go anyways so I walked faster. I knew Jungkook was going to be in so much pain when we got back to the loft. But he was doing it to cheer me up.
We didn't say anything but listened to the rain getting heavier until we entered the building and Jungkook boasted that he had won. We stood right inside the door for a second, not heading for the elevator so we could catch our breath and not feel so cold and wet. I reached into the waistband of my pants to check my phone and I realized I had missed calls and texts from Namjoon, and a few from Jimin.
I looked at Jungkook but didn't show him my phone, just sliding Namjoon's name across to call him.
He answered and I felt my heart beating fast, Namjoon never calls me. "Hello?"
"Oh, Josie, thank god. You're with Tae, right?" He seemed relieved to hear my voice.
"No?" I wasn't sure if I was suppose to lie, but I was bad at it so I didn't try.
"God fuck. Okay." He said something away from the phone to someone else, then spoke back to me. "Have you talked to him this weekend?"
"Just early Saturday morning at his place." This was such a weird exchange. "What happened?"
"I was hoping you would know." He mumbled a fuck and talked again. "He said he'd be back at the house early this morning but didn't come which is whatever. But there was a meeting with the company he rents this house from and they saw all the party damages and some furniture we haven't fixed yet. It's so fucked. This house is in his name and so he wasn't here to discuss it with them. Now everyone's so fucked."
"Wait-" I said, trying to figure out what was happening. "Have you guys called him or texted him about what happened? Maybe he forgot."
"Yeah it goes straight to voicemail. He wouldn't miss something like this though, he's so stingy about where his money goes." Namjoon said something else away from the phone.
I had no idea where he could be. Why would he ditch that to hang out with me? There's only one person he'd actually miss that for...I'm the only person he knows that knows about Jamie. "I might know where he is. I'll call you later."
I didn't say anything to Jungkook and left the building, my hand still gripping my phone as I jogged to the subway hoping there was a bus to Bea's place soon, hoping everything was okay.
