CHAPTER 30: lieing to Drea

Lexi's POV;

We were leisurely enjoying our ice- cream when Alessandro called Drea, asking our current whereabouts. Drea being Drea, was saying utter nonsense, trying to annoy the hell out of her brother!

I sat there, licking my oh so delicious ice-cream, while also enjoying the free show. That was when I had to drag my sight towards my phone as I hard it ding, indicating the arrival of a new text.

I picked up my phone and opened the text after seeing that it was from my brother. Why is this giving me a bad feeling though?

My whole being was frozen after I finished reading the text. I only came back to myself as I heard Drea calling me. Not wanting my bestie to see what I was reading, and for safety purposes as well, I hurriedly deleted the text.

Taking a deep intake of air, I tried smiling towards Drea like nothing happened. Thankfully she didn't seem to catch on my change in mood, or maybe she just didn't ask!

"Apparently my brother isn't coming over, although I thought he was going to. He just wanted to see where we were..or maybe how you were doing!" Her last sentence was definitely laced with sarcasm! As for Zandro not coming over, I think I could guess why.

"He's someone who has a lot to do, unlike us. So it's no surprise when he doesn't follow us everywhere". Although I didn't show any change in my expression, I was debating with myself regarding everything that was happening.

I really don't want to lie to Drea, but right now, I didn't know a better way to explain, so I stared at my bestie before releasing a stupid lie.

"I just got an urgent message from my assistant. It seems they are having some problems in the company that needs my immediate attention, so..I have to go check it out! I'm so sorry I have to cut our time short."

"That's ok, what are you apologising for anyway." Drea chuckled at me, while looking at me like I had grown two heads. "Besides, I have to go to the company too. I haven't finished my works due at the end of the week. So lets go together!"

Oh, shit! I totally forgot I gave Drea a job at my company. Now what?!

I was still contemplating on an idea to escape when Drea stood up to leave. I hastily grabbed her wrist to stop her. "Actually, the problem seems to be in one of the branches. So I'm not going to the main company. Why don't you drive yourself while a take a cab?"

Oh god, I just lied to her again! I am already feeling guilty, damn it! But no matter what, this time I really can't tell her the truth.

"Well that sucks. Why don't I give you a ride before I go. It would be better than taking a cab right?"

"No. No need for that. I'm going over to a branch that's quite far away. You would only be wasting time and gas if you drop me. Don't worry too much, my assistant is already on her way over as well."

"Alright then, I'll get going."

I was only able to breath well after I watched Drea drive away. Taking my phone out, I gave my assistant a call, instructing her to leave for a branch of the company, and to ensure Drea doesn't find out I lied. She obeyed without any questions, which was why I liked her!

After dealing with this problem I rang a different number. After waiting around five minutes a black maybach parked near me. Did brother have to send something so showy? Well whatever!

I was feeling really torn as I sat in the car, not very much keen on where we were going!
