Lexi's POV;
"I...." I didn't know how to explain. Looking at my brothers darkening face, I knew he was mad. He was probably worried sick when he found out I was missing. Considering he was lying down on my bed like that, I'm guessing it haven't been long since he found out!
"Actually, there has been something I have been meaning to talk to you about. Dimitri contacted me."
"What! You went to meet Dimitri?!" Huh! I was only trying to steer the conversation in another direction, but him thinking I went out to meet Dimitri seems a not bad thing! Well, better than letting him know the truth.
"He sent me a text wanting to meet up, and he told me about you know who. Dimitri said that the Russian and Mexican mafia had joined forces. You should know about their men roaming our areas right?" Technically, I wasn't lying. Just a little mix up in time!
"Yes. His men have been spotted near several of our land, and there have even been small attacks on our goods." I didn't know about the attacks. Was this the reason he dissappeared so easily last time. They have yet to fully set foot here.
This time, I was really thinking about the issue, and not just because of my selfish reasons.
"Big brother, even if we are strong, he is not weak either. On top of which him working together with the Mexicans may bring a bigger blow to us then we think. We need an alliance too!" I said inquiringly, not wanting my brother to flare up.
"He never works with others! If anything, he is only using them. After all, we were family at one time. We can still read him better than others!
Family! Heh! True, he was family, and still is blood wise. But, that relationship is over! It was over from the very moment he betrayed us.
"But an alliance might really be what we need now." I let my rising hate cool down as I heard my brother speak. "Why haven't you considered it then?" I knew he was still not into the idea.
Getting up from my bed, Xander slowly walked over to me. He looked me in the eye before turning his gaze outside the window. The sky was fully lit up by now.
"Why? Because our best choice for an alliance right now, is also our worst choice."
"The Italians?" I was certain although I asked it as a question.
"Yes. The Italians are strong, and also nearest to us. But, we have had decades long confrontations! We are life long enemies! They have taken several of our mens lives, and so have we, theirs! Do you think, it's possible for us to come together?" I can feel the helplessness in his tone as he asked the last question.
"That doesn't mean we can give up. There are no parmanent enemies nor friends on the battlefield. Or something like that. Either way, if I somehow convice the Italians to work with us, would you agree to it?"
"Lexi, it won't.."
"WOULD you agree to it? Just answer me!" I was determined to get our two mafias together. For the sake of survival and my future love life!
"Alright. I will. But, you are not allowed to do anything dangerous." I knew he wouldn't be able to say no to me.
"Good. I promise I'll take care of myself. You can't let the guards follow me anymore. DON'T INTERRUPT! Since that guy still haven't set a firm foot here, he won't disturb me for a while. I'll get this deal done, by hook or by crook!"
"Fine then. But, if anything happens, you can't keep it from me." He fully relented, yes!
"Deal!"
