A New Start

Chapter 8: Day Four

I woke up late again and Cole and Jason were already gone. "Hey, Cole and Jason wanted me to tell you they left you a note by your pillow you might want to go check." Sophia told me and carried on with her conversation. I walked over to the pillow and under it was a note. It was kind of hard to read from were I had laid on it. It said

"Emalea, you're asleep obviously and we wanted to say goodbye but we didn't want to awake you. We will be back, I promise. While we are gone don't do anything stupid okay? Take care of everybody and we should be back before night fall. Save me some dinner."
I put the note into my jacket pocket and smiled. As I walked to Sophia, Cody had stopped me. "Emalea, there is to many out there. We would ask Cole and Jason but their obviously not here. Please help me, fast before they bre-" he got cut off by a loud gun shot and the sound of glass shattering. I jumped. "Shit." Cody whispered. "Emalea, get the rest under the bleachers. Just go through the coaches office. Hurry! Run!" Cody was yelling and pushing me towards the office now.

As I got everybody in, the creatures poured in. I turned to see Cody shooting them in the head. He was a good shot, i'm glad he's on our side I thought. I shut the door after everybody was in but thought about Cody. "Savannah. Listen to me. I'm going out there now to help Cody. Lock this door as soon as I leave I'll run back with him. If you don't hear three knocks on the door within five to ten minutes, don't even bother to look out there do you hear me?" I said. "You shouldn't do this Emalea. You're going to get yourself killed." Beau said. "What about Cody? I'm not going to sit here and let him fight on his own." I said calmly now.  "Fine, but Cody is my friend to. I'm going to help to." Beau said. We both grabbed to hand guns and a knife. We counted to three. "One.... Two.... THREE!".

We opened the door to expect dozens of zombies out there. There were about a dozen on the floor dead. Savannah had did as I asked and locked the door behind us. "Well, where do you think he is?" Beau asked. We heard noises from outside. "Let's check outside first unless you have a better plan." I said. He held his gun up. "Let me go first." He said. I didn't argue. I didn't have the chance to anyways, he was already out the double doors before I could even open my mouth.

I followed after him. Right outside of those doors was the playground. Cody was on top of the slide, shooting zombies from a distance with a girl with him. She was tall and had brown and blondeish strips in her hair. "I only have a clip left!" She yelled. Cody gave her a knife. "Use this in case one gets to close!" He yelled back.

Beau ran towards them yelling their names. "Cody! Gracie! We are here to help you!". Cody looked down and wasn't surprised to see Beau but was surprised to see me. "Beau! You let her leave?!" He yelled while shooting the zombies. "It was her idea! Just shut up and let us help you!" Beau yelled as well. We distracted the zombies to get them away so Cody and Gracie could get down safely. When they were all dead, we went back inside. We got everyone out of the cramped office and back to normal. Most of the guys cleared the creatures out while the girls cleaned the floor. The males were to set the body's on fire to depose of them. We knew by morning, tons of creatures would be out there. It was only 12:30 pm at this point. I knew this was going to be along day.
