I woke up with the sunlight gleaming on my face. I slowly rose up rubbing my eyes. The wind was still blowing. "Hey, bed head." Sophia looked at me with wide eyes. "About time you got up. You could've slept all day." She finished. I looked at her with a annoyed expression. Matthew and Beau was awake, but Cody was still asleep. I fixed my messy air and got up shaking my foot to get it awake. "Isn't he up by now?" I asked. "Let him rest. I'm sure he's very tired. I see him roaming the halls around three in the morning to make sure we are okay." Matthew said. "So I assume you don't sleep at night?" Sophia crossed her arms. "Very rarely." He replied. They started to whisper to each other. Beau waw planning out jobs. Maybe more jobs. I sat back down not wanting to interrupt anybody. I could hear some of the giggles coming from my left. Obviously Matthew and Sophia. I could hear Cody breathing to the right of me and Beau was silently working by himself. I wanted to help, but I am not taking the risk of screwing anything up. The wind was getting stronger and stronger. Perhaps we were going to get a storm. "Hey guys. We'll leave when Cody wakes up." Beau said looking up from his list. We all nodded.
10 minutes later
"Are you sure he's asleep?" Sophia asked. "Of course. I mean, Emalea is a heavy sleeper. You know how she is." Matthew pointed at me fast. I looked at him smiled annoyedly. "Cody!" I heard from a distance. "Jason...?" Beau question. "Cody! It's bad!" There was another voice. "Cole?" I questioned also. The reached us. They came up the ladder. "Wake Cody. This is important." Jason said. He pushed us out of the way and shook Cody. "Can somebody explain what's going on?" I said. My voice was shakey. I was nervous. Cody slowly rose up and Jason explain. "We were on watch like always. We heard a truck, but thought it was one of us. We didn't pay attention to it. It stopped on the left side of the school and unleashed a horde. They ran in like they owned the place. They were yelling for Nathan, Hope, and Chasity." I think I heard your name a few times." Jason pointed at me. "I don't care about me right now. Is Savannah, Scarlett, and the rest okay?!" I yelled. I headed straight for the ladder. "Um, I don't think so." Sophia grabbed my shirt. "I didn't say you could go alone." She finished. "And i'm not going to let it happen." Beau said. "Neither am I. Come on, we have to get them. They're family." Cody got up and headed for the ladder. I headed down then Cody. I didn't wait. I ran as fast as I could to the opening. I turned to see if they caught up. Cody was right behind me. "This isn't your fault." I yelled to him. He just looked away. "I should've been there, with them. Watching over them" he yelled back. We all jumped the fence and kept running. I was running out of breathe, but couldn't stop running. "This isn't your fault. You did not cause this." Sophia yelled to him. We were almost to the school. We got far enough to see the creatures crowding the place. People we knew were already turned. Tears steamed my eyes.
