Gun shots were going off everywhere from other survivor, some of our people were still alive fighting. "Sophia, Emalea. Stay behind me and Beau. Make sure they don't come behind us." Cody didn't turn around when he said this.
Me and Sophia were looking left and right and behind the whole time. We were terrified. We made it to the back of the school shortly after. "Cody, what are you planning?" Beau asked with his gun raised. I guess Beau could tell by the look on his face he wasn't up to good. "Emalea you good with a gun right?" He asked turning around. "If aiming and shooting is good then yes, I am." I replied.
The creatures were to distracted with the others to notice us. "Good, me and you will sneak into that door," he pointed up the small concrete stairs. Up those stairs to the left was two more doubled doors leading in the halls. He reached in his pocket and pulled out some keys. "Beau and Sophia, go around the fence and towards the woods. Maybe you could get a few shots on some. If anything bad happens-" Cody stopped. I looked to Beau and saw his hand up. "Yeah, yeah. We run. We got this." He put his hand back down. "Okay then. Emalea, you ready?" He asked me. "Doesn't seem like I have a choice so yeah." I said.
We ran up the stairs. I watched Beau and Sophia run around the fence and towards the woods while Cody got the doors open. "Our weapon room in on the left side of this hall." He swung of the doors and unlocked the other doubled doors. "We get in there and get some guns. We don't have much, but we'll have to deal with it." He swung the other doors open. I ran past him into the first door on the left. He got in front of my unlocking the cabinet in there. There is a lot of locks in this place I though to myself. "Damn," he whispered. "They only left us handguns." He picked two up handing me one and putting the other in the back of his pants. "Once your first gun runs out, use the second one. The second one holds more than the first one."
We ran out of the room and to the end of the hall. Cody was in the lead. He poked his head around the corner and pulled back. "There's only a few," he pulled out his knife. "I can get them. Just stay here." He was already around the corner before I could respond. I hear him taking them out one by one and then a scream. Without hesitation I turn the corner to see him sticking his wrist into one of there mouths. "What the hell are you doing?" I yelled raising my gun up and shooting the creature. I flinched a bit. He pulled his sleeve back and showed me the duct tap he put on. "I put it on everyday in case I have to do something like that."
After the rest were dead, well dead again, we went in the main hall leading to the gym and lunch room. "Savannah, keep my back watched." I heard Jessie yell. "I gotcha!" She yelled back. I let out my air I was holding in, in relief. Cody went around the corner yelling their names and shooting the creatures coming their way and his way. He is so smart, but so stupid.
They noticed him fast. He called for me to come out. The creatures were more in the gym then in the hall we were in. We quickly shut the doors so none of them would come in. Once they noticed us they were banging and pushing their decaying faces against the small window. We killed the rest off in the hall and shut the lunch room doors to.
"Where is Scarlett?" Savannah asked. I looked at Cody. "I thought she was with you guys?" I replied. Jesse's eyes widened. "Guys," he stopped and looked at Savannah. "I think I know where she might be." He finished. "Well, where?" Cody asked. He tensed up a bit. Jessie just pointed to the roof. "You mean you think she's dead?" Savannah yelled. Jessie looked at her with a strange face. "No, I mean the roof." He said. Savannah just looked away and wiped the tears that almost came down.
"Those things are everywhere in the gym. How are we supposed to get up there?" I asked. "Jessie and me will go clear. We will come back when it's clear for you guys to come in." Cody was walking to the door. "What? Are you stupid?" Savannah grabbed Cody 's arm. At least I wasn't the only one who thought this. "What other option do we have? We are wasting time." Jessie said pulling her away from Cody.
They ran in and the only thing we could hear was gunshots. "Well, what do we do?" Savannah asked. She sat down and leaned her back to the wall. I sat beside her. "We wait." I replied putting my gun beside me.

10 minutes later

It was silent. Why was it silent I thought. I stood up walking to the door and looking in. I couldn't see much because blood was splattered on the small window.
"Should we go in?" She asked. I waited for a moment and tried to look in again. "Doesn't seem like we have a choice." I shrugged. I slowly opened the door and peeled in. The first thing that hit me was the smell. It was awful. I saw dead bodies everywhere, none Cody 's nor Jessie's. That's a good sign.
I walked back into the hall grabbing my gun and walking back to see Savannah already half way in the gym. I ran to her. "Look." She pointed at the couches office at the end of the gym. About ten to fifteen creatures were crowding and beating on the door. "We can take them." She pulled her gun out stepping a few more inches in front of her. I did the same pointing the gun the same way.
"We shoot them on the count of three, okay?" She said. I nodded in agreement.
"1, 2, 3."
She yelled. We began to shoot taking them down one by one. "Cover me. I have to reload." She pulled another clip out and putting it in the empty slot leaving me shooting the rest coming towards us. There were about five left coming for us. Nothing to big I thought. Cody and Jessie came out of the office pushing the dead ones out of the way.
They finished them off for us. I reloaded with only two bullets left in my clip. I took those out and placed them into my pocket. "Isn't Sophia and the rest with you guys?" Savannah asked. "Yeah, Sophia and Beau went around the fence shooting some to make the job easier for Matthew, Cole, and Jason." Cody said. "What are they doing?" She asked. "Checking the truck out. Since it's still sitting there running the people must still be here or dead." Cody said.
There was a high pitch scream coming from outside. It sounded more of Scarlett than Sophia. "The roof!" Jessie yelled running towards the couches office.
Once we all got up there we saw Scarlett's body half way hanging over the edge of the room. There were two men holding her yelling at her. "Where's Nathan and Emalea!" The tall man yelled to her. "I told you! I have no idea!" She yelled back trying to get herself back up. They lowered her a bit more.
I push to the front of Savannah and Cody. "Get her back up." I yelled towards the tall man. He chuckled a little bit turning around.
John
"I should've known." My hands were shaking because of my anger. I clenched them into a fist. John turned a bit making a motion with his hand. The other boy pulled Scarlett up pushing her towards the rest of us. Savannah caught her, holding her while she cried. "Savannah, take her out and Cody make sure they are safe. Jessie," I turned around. "I might need your help with this guy." I said. They nodded in agreement. I saw Cody lead them out leaving Jessie, me, John, and the other boy.
"Where's Nathan," he stopped and raised his finger to his mouth. "And Hope and Chasity?" He smirked. "You leave them alone." I said. My voice was steady. My heart began to race from the thought of me not knowing where they were anyways.
"Hm, stubborn." He said. "You haven't changed since the last time we met." He said crossing his arms.
Jessie looked at me funny. I only shook my head. "Now, you can come with me and find the rest while your friends stay alive or," he took a breath. "You will all die no matter what." He smirked that same smirk again. I was silent not talking my eyes off of him while Jessie stared at the other boy.
There were still gun shots and yelling coming from below from the other survivors. John sighed. "I guess I will just have to kill you, Christopher. Do the honors." He started to walk towards me. Both me and Jessie pull our guns out alerting them to do the same.
Nobody moved or even said a word for what felt like forever. My heart was racing. "Okay, okay you go-" He stopped. There was a loud gunshot and John fell to the ground making the other guy look. Jessie shot him. Me and Jessie walked to him.
John was holding his shoulder rolling around in pain. He was trying to scream, but nothing would come out. I look out to see Jason, Cole, Beau, Sophia, and Matthew together. Cole had a sniper in his hand. I smiled and put a thumbs up. He put on up in a reply.
"Jessie?" I asked. I turned around. "Please get rid of the trash." I said. He smiled and did what was told taking a knife and putting it into this temple.
Once we all got back down to the gym we saw Savannah, Cody, and Scarlett on the bleach waiting. "Is everything okay? Where is Jessie?" Cody asked standing up from the rest. "He's finishing John up." I replied. "We're fine." Jessie said coming out of the office. "Jessie come with me to search the room. I want to make sure that if there are survivors that we get them to. Emalea, if you would please take Savannah and Scarlett to-" He stopped and smiled seeing Cole, Sophia, Jason,Beau, and Matthew walk in. Cole still had the sniper. "So, that's where it went." Cody said. "We went into the from door and got some ammo and more weapons, figured this be useful." Cole said smiling. "He did after all save mine and Jessie's life." I said turning to Cole. He smiled at us. I guess this is his way of saying sorry.
"All the guy's come with me. Girls stay in here, we will be back. If any survivors come, make sure they aren't bit or scratched. You know what that means if they are." Cody said. The boys left and the fire sat on the bleachers in silence. How could something like this happen?
