Yusuf

I had seen the young man get off the fishing boat and walk with determined passe towards Sanem's cottage, it was the moment of truth, he was determined to express all his feelings and ask for forgiveness.

But was he ready to face the truth that awaited him?

I followed him with my eyes until I saw him stop near Sanem, I saw her get up, from a distance my old eyes could not see her face but my heart could instead imagine her disbelief and her suffering renewed.
It was painful but also right, very often the worst wounds have to be reopened in order to heal.

I saw Can sitting on the lawn and Sanem listening to him intently for what seemed like an eternity then, when he stood up again probably asking Sanem to talk to him, I saw Denise arrive with little Nihat.

I understood that the situation was destined to become even more entangled without them having the time for a sincere confrontation beforehand.
I closed my eyes praying to Allah to give all the necessary strength to my girl not to be destroyed by this situation.

Sanem took the boy and went into the house, what had happened?

I saw the boy fall on his knees, his head bowed and his shoulders slumped in despair, I couldn't even imagine the heartbreak he was feeling in that moment.
I approached him, I heard his soft sobs and all I could do was put my hand on his shoulder, he continued to cry his tears for what seemed like an eternity until he raised his devastated eyes to me asking and wondering:

- What have I done to her? How will she ever forgive me?

I had no answer for him, only time would somehow answer and heal the wounds of these two hearts.

I sat down in the grass next to him and let him come to terms with the situation, to become aware of how he had completely disrupted Sanem's life and how his own life would never be the same from now on.

He turned slowly towards me.

- A child.... we have a child..... I'm a baba, I'm a father -

A bitter smile appeared on his face,

- How could this woman give me such an exceptional gift when I have given her only anguish and despair until now? Yusuf how could I? How could I do this to her?

Again his head fell forward, his desperate expression covered by his long unkempt hair, I couldn't do anything but put my hand on his shoulder again and say:

- Now there is only one question to ask you, "How can I get my family back?"

Didn't you tell me just this afternoon that you would fight for her until the end of your days? Then start, go to her and face her, don't you dare run away, don't you do it again -

I saw him raise his head and look towards the sea for a time that seemed interminable.
That sea that had taken him away from her, that had been the silent witness of his inner turmoil for a whole year was now there, again, to give him consolation.

He blinked several times, recovered from his self-pity by standing up.

- I won't do it, I won't run away anymore I swear. I will do whatever it takes for however long it takes, I will not give up this time. It's not just about the two of us anymore, now there is a little angel who deserves all the best that life can give him and the best necessarily starts with a happy and loved mother.
Only that matters now.

He squared his shoulders, turned to me and, after a moment's hesitation, pulled this gruff old man into a sincere hug. How could my heart resist these two pearls of boys?

The road was long and rough, but I was on their side, I would have helped them in every possible way to find the happiness they deserved.
