Lea took a deep breath as she stood in front of the main doors of the Viridian City Gym
With her entering these doors there was no turning back and her Pokemon journey would officially begin and the start of the gym challenge
All in her hometown where she grew up, caught her first Pokemon in Vulpix when her father got sick so she stayed in trainer school where she also encountered Psyduck, from evolving Bulbasaur to Ivysaur, from getting Squirtle and starting her rivalry with Ash
"Alright," Lea said as she walks into the building
It didn't take long to walk into the main battle area where there were only two people in there, the referee and the temporary gym leader

"Welcome to the Viridian City Gym, I'm Ritchie I'm filling in for the spot temporarily," Ritchie said "I've gotten top 8 in the Kanto Indigo League, Top 8 in Hoenn's Ever Grande Conference, Top 16 in Johto's Silver Conference, and many other accomplishments if you need others to judge my place here"
"No I know the gym leader here always changes with notable strong trainers, I'm from Viridian City so I've been keeping up," Lea said
"Hm," Ritchie said sizing her up "First Gym?"
"Correct"
"Alright," Ritchie said thinking who he should use "This will be a two on two battle if you don't have two Pokemon come back later"
"I have four so I'm ready for anything you throw at me," Lea said
"Ok..." Ritchie said getting an answer for his choice "I'll choose first then you which will begin the match"
"Ok"
"Ok go Happy!" Ritchie said as he threw out his Butterfree
"Free!"
"Butterfree I caught as a Caterpie nearby in Viridian Forest," Ritchie said
"First is a bug type so I need to use... Vulpix!" Lea said taking out Vulpix
"Vul!"
"This will be a two on two battle only the challenger may swap out Pokemon, Begin!" the referee said
"Vulpix Ember!" Lea said
"Blow it back with Whirlwind," Ritchie said as Butterfree blew his wings and the Ember fell to the ground
