Dreams

     Ye Hua was actually excited.  He had never been out of the nine heavens before.  The more he was shown around, the more excited he got.  The classrooms caught his attention.  Die Feng was with him when they came to the library.  Ye Hua was amazed.  Being a very studious boy, he loved books.  And here were a lot of them.  On any subject.  He tugged on Die Feng's sleeve.  "Can I really read any book in here?"  Die Feng smiled.  "Yes you can.  Any one you want to unless Shifu  says otherwise."  "Is he really my brother?" "If he says so then yes.  Shifu never lies.  He's been waiting a long time for you."  "Come.  It's time to go to his study." 
     Die Feng led Ye Hua into Mo Yuan's study.  He was waiting for them.  Die Feng knocked on the door.  "Enter", he answered.    "Shifu, we have toured the grounds.  Young Crown Prince Ye Hua seems to like the library a lot.  He also liked the armory."   "That's all for now.  Leave us."  Die Feng bowed and left.  "Come here, Ye Hua.  I won't bite you!"  The soft look was in Mo Yuan's eyes.  He took the small boy into his arms and hugged him.  Ye Hua was stiff.  "I've waited over 100,000 years for you.  I want to tell you how you are my brother now.  Let's take a walk now."  He took Ye Hua by the hand and led him to the lotus pond.  He sat down and brought Ye Hua to his lap.  Ye Hua was looking around like he knew the place.  "Over 200,000 years ago, Mother was pregnant with us.  It was at the time when the pillars fell and she had to expend a lot of energy to repair them.  Because of that, she gave birth to us early.  She died shortly after that.  You see, I never knew her either.  I had only Father.  Shortly after Mother died, you died as well.  Father was broken hearted.  He took your little soul and created a fetus for you hoping you would come forth again.  He placed that fetus into a golden lotus.  Your primordial spirit was held inside of him.  He used half of his power to do it.  For years you lay dormant.  The day came when Father passed into nothingness.  He handed you to me and placed your spirit within me.  Every day I passed energy to you and talked to you but you didn't come forth.  When Shiqi came to Kunlunxu, I gave her the task of caring for you.  The first time she touched you, you sent out a spray of gold!  The first sign your spirit was alive!  I didn't know it would take my death and return for you to be born.  I have waited for you a long time.  I want you to be happy here.  I don't think you were very happy in the nine heavens were you?"  Ye Hua's little mind was sharp, in fact he was called a child prodigy.  He was taking in every word Mo Yuan told him.  He hung his head and shuffled his hands.  "No, I wasn't happy."  Mo Yuan wanted to be angry because the boy had been treated harshly, but he knew lots of love and attention was just what he needed.  "Right over there in that spot is where your lotus was.  I would come here and play the quqin for you.  I would like to be your teacher now.  Will you except me as not only your brother but your Shifu too?"  Ye Hua's little eyes started to get the smile before his face did.  Out of no where he flung his arms around Mo Yuan's neck.  A little surprised by it, Mo Yuan only hesitated a second before the hug was returned.  "Tonight you will be in the room with Qian Qian.  She is about to become my wife.  You can also go to her with your problems too.  In fact, she is Shiqi.  She was disguised as a boy to go to school here.  Don't be surprised if she calls you "Xiao Lianhua"!  Now its time for dinner.  Are you hungry?"  He nodded his little head enthusiastically.  He was hungry!
     After eating a hearty dinner, Mo Yuan took Ye Hua to his personal hot spring for a bath.  Ye Hua splashed around a while before he was bathed and oiled down with a scent he picked himself.  He liked a mixture of cedar wood and sandalwood with a little peach blossom on top.  Mo Yuan took him to Qian Qian's room and tucked him in.  "You will sleep in here until I get your own rooms ready for you.  You are the Crown Prince.  I will make sure you live like it too.  We start early here so I will come get you in the morning.  Good night, Didi."  "Good night, Da ge."  He hugged his neck again.
     Mo Yuan went into the hall where Qian Qian was sitting with Zhe Yan and Bai Zhen.  He was so close to crying he almost couldn't hold it in.  "I can't begin to even imagine what that child has been through.  I swear I will make Haode pay.  I swear it!"  Zhe Yan could read Mo Yuan's eyes and he saw the emotions swirling like clouds there.  The love, the anger, the worry.  "Does the boy seem to be adjusting well, do you think?"  "I believe he will be fine.  It's the love and attention that he craves most.  He's been deprived of that all of his life.  Qian Qian, he's in your room.  Let me know if anything happens during the night, ok?"  "I will, don't worry.  I'll take good care of him like I did before!"
     Qian Qian got ready for bed and climbed in next to Ye Hua.  He was sleeping soundly so she thought maybe he would be ok.  Later that night, he started getting restless.  He was thrashing about and he finally sat up in bed crying.  Bai Qian was scared as she looked at the face of the child.  She stood up beside the bed, looked over the situation and decided to transform into her fox form.  She jumped up on the bed and sat down in front of him.  He was rubbing his eyes and sniffling.  She placed her paw on his leg and looked into his eyes.  He reached out to pet her.  She stretched herself out so he could pet her more easily.    She pulled the cover back with her paws and patted the pillow for him to lay back down.  When he did, she got under the cover and lay beside him.  Her tails wrapped around him and he snuggled into them.  It wasn't long before he was asleep again.  The next morning when Mo Yuan came in to wake them up, he was surprised to see Ye Hua wrapped up in fox tails and snoring lightly.  He shook Bai Qian to wake her up.  She covered her snout with her paw.  He shook her again.  Her eye opened and looked at him.  Reluctantly she unwrapped her tails and climbed onto his lap.  She licked his face and chin and was feeling rather smug.  "It's time to rise and shine!  I let you two sleep late.  Tell me why you are in fox form?"  She transformed in his lap and the shock of her bottom sitting right over a particular spot had his temperature rising.  He took a deep breath and looked into her eyes.  "Ye Hua woke up dreaming last night.  I took my fox form to calm him.  He went right back to sleep so I just curled around him.  Did I do wrong?"  "No, he was just in a strange place.  It gets dark here and is not eternally light like it is in the nine heavens.  He will be fine soon enough.  Now let's get you two up!"  He shook Ye Hua again and saw the little eyes open.  He sat up and looked around.  "Where's the pretty fox?", he said.  "I'm the pretty fox", Bai Qian said as she sat by him.  "You had a bad dream so I transformed to calm you.  Are you ok with that?"  "You're very pretty.  Your fox is pretty too!"  Mo Yuan laughed and flipped back the covers.  "Time to get up now.  We have a busy day today!"
