Ye Hua's palace was finished. Finally! They only needed to complete the others to have a whole new city. Every morning when Mo Yuan came to breakfast, new guests were there to question him and enjoy his company. He had never been so busy. He barely had time to meditate anymore. He checked his power level everyday. For some reason, his power level and cultivation had never been higher. He mentally shrugged and went about his affairs. Taiyang and Zhenzhu had taken to following him everywhere he went. Sometimes they took on their dragon form and flew behind him. Other times he either carried them or they ran behind him. He taught them things as they went. He had to admit out of all of his boys, these two were as smart as Ye Hua was when he was young. He set them to reading as soon as they were able to. They remembered everything. One by one he had them read on a subject and then he taught them beyond what the books said. As the day approached for them to learn spell usage, he had some reservations. He only hoped that they would not be as bad as Baohu and Jinzi had been. He squared his shoulders and went to the library. He was surprised they weren't there. He sent out feelers to find them. The pavilion in the flower valley? Ok then. He jumped there and received a very pleasant surprise.
All of his children were waiting for him there. From the oldest to the youngest. When he arrived, they turned and smiled. Bai Xue spoke for them. "Fuqin, it has come to our attention that the peace of Kunlun has been permanently disrupted. We want you to know that we also know you have been working very hard to complete not only our homes, but the homes of all who wish to reside here. We want you to know that we, your children, all love you and honor you. We hope you will eat with us today and let us tend to you, for once in your life." Mo Yuan was speechless as Liang Lei took his hand and led him to a cushion set up just for him. "Please listen as we tell of our adventures and how you influenced each one of us. I will start." They all gathered around him and brought tea and snacks. "Being the first born has brought many challenges into my life. It has been my duty to oversee my siblings. There have been times when I felt like I had failed miserably. The worst times being my trial for high god. I felt I should have done more for JinDe. I've always felt his trial was hard because I failed him. I was not as present in Baohu and Jinzi's lives as I would have wanted because of my duties to Shushu. Also these four haven't had me around much, but that is going to change now that I'm home. My rejection of my own sons saw you, Fuqin, in your loving, kind way, guide me back to the right path. Because of you, I am here as a son, a Da ge, and a Fuqin. You never spoke harshly to me but once and I deserved it then. I will be here now to be what I am supposed to be. Your firstborn, the great white dragon of Kunlun." Tears were running down Mo Yuan's face. Children were piled around him hugging him. JinDe stood as Bai Xue sat down. "Fuqin, as your second born, I have probably brought you more grief than any other one of your children. I kept up steady shenanigans that Xue was always having to get me out of, but it was my trial that was the hardest on us all. I must admit that I came real close to ending my life over it. I didn't want to face you as a failure. I honestly thought I had failed. But you, Fuqin, never judged me. You didn't scream and berate me. Instead you took me to your cave, gently combed out my hair, arranged my clothes, threw up a barrier and left me to work out my problems. Everyday you came to check on me. When I came forth a high god, the first thing you did was kick my rear all over the arena. You can still do it, I'm sure. You have always been there. Always, and I love you for it." He hugged his Fuqin and sat next to his mirror twin Da ge. Jinzi stood next. "Fuqin, though I may not have been as much trouble as some of my siblings, I had my moments. When I first took on my human form, I was really scared. When you stormed into Shushu's palace, I was terrified. I thought for sure you would eat us for dragon food. How absurd that was! Not once in my life did you ever make me feel like I was inferior because I was a fox and not a dragon like you. You nurtured me and even now, when I have chosen not to be a warrior, but a healer, you have been behind me always. I love you Fuqin. Very much!" He hugged his Fuqin and took his seat next to his Er ge. Baohu stood and told his story. "Fuqin, I, like my Er ge, have always been a trial to you. Even though I nearly killed you in my stupidity, you looked at me in your pain and cried for me. I'll never forget those dragon kisses you blew across my chest. My last request from you is this, before you leave this world, I just want one more dragon kiss from you. I will fulfill all that you desire from me. I will be a god of war. I promise it. I love you Fuqin!" He hugged his Fuqin and took his seat by his Da ge. Bai Chen Bo stood next. "Fuqin, I have never been great at anything. I'm just your first born daughter. I've always reveled in your love and I've slacked off in my training. I guess you could say I'm just like mother was. But even though I have been this way, you still love me. You still push me in your gentle way to be better and I love you for it. I love you, Fuqin!" She hugged him and sat by her San ge. Bai Chin Chu stood next. "Fuqin, I have always been a trial to you. Much like Baohu, I shirked my duty, didn't do my class work and even attacked you. It took you going all war god on me to see the error of my ways. I know I will never be as powerful as you, but it doesn't matter. Your love is all I want. I love you Fuqin!" She sat by her Si ge. Xia Liang Lei stood next. "Fuqin, you always knew I was lazy. You knew I had great power, but you never forced me, you used gentle coercion to get me to see what I could do. I know, because of you, that I can be a great white dragon just like my Da ge! I can be a powerful daughter of Mo Yuan, God of War! You also know I like to be dressed more like mother does. You bought me dresses just like I like them. Only you would do that for me! I love you!" She sat down by Chen Bo. Mo Junjie Jin stood next. "Fuqin, I know I have been a pest on many occasions. Especially when I went on the flower house quest! You let me find my own power. Once I found my courage and strength, you pointed me in the right direction to refine it. You've always been there! I love you!" He hugged his Fuqin and sat by his jiemei. Taiyang and Zhenzhu stood up together. They grinned and looked back at their Da ge. He motioned for them to speak. "Fuqin, you let us suck your blood cause we would die. You save us. You save us cause you love us. We want to be big bad dragon just like Fuqin! We be powerful too! We love Fuqin!" They ran into his arms where he held one on each side of him. Bai Xue stood and spoke again. "Fuqin, we don't think your calamity is coming or anything like that, now that we are all here on this mountain together again, our power has grown, we have grown and we want to show you that you haven't failed us, ever. We just wanted to show you our love. That's all we wanted." Mo Yuan was speechless. "All I can say is that I love each and every one of you. If you ever need me, you know where to find me. Now how about snacks?" They all jumped up and fell about him begging for music. They were there an hour later when Bai Qian came looking for him. The sight she saw brought a smile to her face and joy to her heart.
Ye Hua moved into his palace three days after its completion. He had Meili come and plant trees and flowers just like his garden in the nine heavens, but he had her create a lotus pond on his palace level for all to enjoy. The mountain was lush with trees and plants. The last thing Ye Hua had done was to build a huge library. Every book was brought to it. Each deity had their own libraries, but this one housed all of the books ever brought to the rulers of the nine heavens. He also had an observatory built. Now that there was a night sky, there would be more star gazing. When the last palace was finished, Ye Hua called Mo Yuan to meet him at the pinnacle of the mountain. Mo Yuan stood by him and they called together. "Fuqin, we have come for all is complete now!" Fuxi appeared before them. "I told you both to meet me here to finally finish the work that was in my mind, but never came forth. This mountain is sacred. By putting you here, Mo Yuan, I protected it and provided you with a source of power for your own needs. When Ye Hua was born, he left the mountain that was intended to always be his home. By coming back here, he has completed the joining of both of your spirits. You see, Ye Hua, I couldn't stand to let you go into the chaos never to return. You, like your Da ge, were meant for greatness. Your mother had struggled to keep both of you alive. You were born early. When she died, you died a few days later. Mo Yuan cried for days, not just for his mother, but for your loss. What I did ended up costing me dearly. If I hadn't given half of my power to the four beasts of Yingzhou, I would have been alive today, but I used the last of my power to create the lotus for your soul. I held on for many millennia by sheer willpower. When I could go no further, I handed your soul to Mo Yuan and removed your primordial spirit from me to pass to him. He knew you had once lived, but then he knew for sure that you were alive. I didn't get a chance to tell him how to bring you forth as an adult. If I could have, you would have ruled because Donghua would have passed the kingdom to you. The greatest thing Mo Yuan ever did was give his life to that bell. It brought you forth. He was given a second chance because he had sacrificed for so many. You are here today because he loved you. Your threads of Destiny never broke. You both are here today to fulfill it. The power within you, Ye Hua, has been dormant since your birth. Today, I'm going to take it and put a barrier over this mountain that can never be breached by any enemy. I myself will go to Yingzhou to sink it forever and bring the beasts here. There will be four gates to this kingdom and a beast at each gate. Tokens will be made for every member of the realms. Entry will only be allowed if the token is presented. I'll be back shortly. Tokens will appear in each household along with a scroll explaining their usage. When you go to the nine heavens, the beasts will go with you to guard the gates. That was their intended purpose. Wait for me here." They watched their Fuqin disappear. Mo Yuan looked hard at Ye Hua. "Can you feel it, Ye Hua? The thread of Destiny that ties us together?" Ye Hua raised his hand and looked hard. Mo Yuan raised his and then they saw it! A golden thread tying them to each other. "How we stretched it so many times! Thank you, Da ge, for crying for me when I died. Thank you for raising me to be the man Fuqin wanted me to be! I love you!" They embraced and held each other.
Fuxi returned to them. The beast were going to their posts. Neither Ye Hua or Mo Yuan received a token. Fuxi smiled when he saw them waiting. "You don't need a token. They will obey only you two. They will recognize you by your command. You are the Master of Kunlun after all and Ye Hua is ruler of the realms. Now come to me, Ye Hua." Ye Hua stood in front of his Fuqin. Slowly he moved his hands until Ye Hua swayed. "Catch him, Mo Yuan!" Mo Yuan caught him and laid him down. The power within him slowly came into Fuxi's hand. He withdrew it all unto himself. He worked his hands and a golden light shot into the sky. The barrier fell over the mountain and disappeared. Ye Hua slowly raised up and looked around himself. "Are you ok, Ye Hua?" Mo Yuan helped him stand up. "I'm fine, Da ge. I'm fine." Fuxi looked at his sons and smiled. "You both have done well. I'm proud of you, my sons. Good by for now!" He disappeared in a cloud of golden smoke. "I guess we should check those beasts now before someone gets killed." "I'll come with you. I hear they are pretty awesome." Hun Dun was guarding the West Gate. When he saw Mo Yuan, he bowed. "Master, I'm here to serve you!" "Stay at your post and guard. Be cordial to all. Let only those pass who have a token. Others only if I authorize it. Those are my orders." Taotie guarded the East Gate. He did the same. Taowu guarded the main gate to Kunlun. He was the most intelligent beast. He bowed. "Master, what are my orders?" "Guard this gate from intruders. Only those with tokens may pass unless I say otherwise. Be cordial to all." "It shall be so, Master!" The last gate, the North Gate was guarded by Qionggi. "What are your orders, Master?" You shall guard this gate from intruders. No one without a token passes unless I give the order. Be cordial to all." "Understood, Master." "Well, Da ge, I don't know about you, but I believe safety won't be an issue around here anymore. We best establish this with everyone now. I'll send messages to everyone." "I'll inform my disciples now. Care for tea?" "Yes a nice cup of tea is just what I need!"
That afternoon it was well known that the beasts were guarding the gates. People scrambled to present their tokens. Each beast, once they saw the tokens, were polite and cordial. Upon hearing of the great beast at the gate of Kunlun, Taiyang and Zhenzhu decided to see it for themselves. Taowu sat by the gate and his eyes missed nothing. The little dragon twins stood before him in awe. Taowu, seeing they were curious, lowered his head to sniff them. "What may I do for you little masters?" "We just want to see big bad beast. Fuqin say don't bother beast. We just come see." He growled and showed them his teeth. Not detered in the least, they both transformed. They started swaying back and forth singing the lullaby their Fuqin always played for them. Slowly the beast eyelids started to droop. Before long, he was laying down with his head on his paws purring. Mo Yuan had looked everywhere for the baby boys. He grew alarmed when he sensed their energy near Taowu. Fearing for their safety, he jumped right to the gate. He was totally flummoxed. It seems his sons were beast charmers! They were still swaying back and forth in perfect synchronized movements and singing in harmony. Taowu was snoring. "Would you boys care to tell me just what you're up too?" They stopped their song and transformed. "Fuqin! We charm beast! See?!?" "Yes, I see! You must not deter Taowu from his duty. Taowu! TAOWU!" Taowu jumped up and shook his head to clear the cobwebs from his head. He bowed low and looked at Mo Yuan. "Master! I was charmed by the young masters! Forgive my failure to do my duty!" He hung his head in shame. "Resume your duty! They won't do it again I assure you! Now you two trouble makers come with me!" He picked them up and jumped straight to the portico. "How about tea and cake? I do believe Chang Shan just made fresh cake. You best get it before your Shushu Ye Hua shows up." They went to the great hall to see Ye Hua eating cake. Taiyang and Zhenzhu ran up to him. Zhenzhu put his hands on his hips and threatened his Shushu. "Shushu, you no eat cake! I zap you!" Taiyang joined him and their sun discs glowed. Sensing an attack, Ye Hua barely got his barrier up before they double zapped him. It still knocked him over. They grabbed the cakes and disappeared. Mo Yuan tried to get them before they disappeared, but just missed. Ye Hua sat back and belly laughed. "Destroyed by two baby dragons! And they took all the cake, too!" Knowing right where they went, Mo Yuan went to their room to find them devouring cake like it was their last meal. Only crumbs were left. He looked at them and was nearly undone by the comical sight of the cake smeared on their faces and the crumbs down the front of their robes. "You boys were very rude to your Shushu. Not only that, but you ate all of the cake. Let me clean you up before your Mother sees how messy you are!" He was removing their robes when Bai Qian walked in. "What is this? What a mess! What happened, Mo Yuan?" "If you must know, I caught these two charming Taowu. Then I brought them to the hall for tea and cake. They attacked their Shushu Ye Hua, snatched the cake and came here to eat it like gluttons. I found them in this state. Notice they ate all the cake, too. No lunch for them!" "Fuqin you mean! We hungry! We want food! We grow!" "We will see if you're hungry at lunch time then! Now let's get clean!"
Since Bai Xue and Mo JinDe now lived on the mountain, there was now a need for Mo Yuan to make time to teach the younger twins. Fenli and Ali, Jin Jin and Shing Shing and Taiyang and Zhenzhu were now in class every morning after breakfast. The first thing he taught was proper meditation. Fenli and Ali were ahead because their Fuqin had been teaching them. JinDe had just started with Jin and Shing. Taiyang and Zhenzhu were just learning. He had dais set up for each one of them. "Today, I will teach you how to properly meditate to build your power. You have to clear your mind. I like to think of my favorite place to be. You might want to do the same. Now clear your minds. Remember proper posture at all times. Now watch me!" He sat down and went into the lotus position. He put his hands palm up on his knees and closed his eyes. "See? It's easy! Now you boys try!" Taiyang and Zhenzhu were squirming like worms. "Get still and do what Fuqin told you. Calm yourselves. Imagine a picnic. Now calm." Slowly all of them were quiet. He walked among them to test them, but they all remained quiet. He left them for two hours. When he came back, they were all asleep. He smiled and woke them up. "Sleeping? Wake up now and we will go to the library. Wake up! It's time for study." Slowly they all stretched and followed him. Let the hard work begin!
