Fuqin, You Need Us

     Bai Qian was awake.  It had been a week since their battle.  She stretched and started to get up.  Mo Yuan was not there!  Where was he?  Why wasn't he by her side?  She remembered what had happened.  Her spell had been her strongest one.  Jinlong was suffering for it too!  Jinlong!  Oh no!  Jinlong!  My dragon!  Where is he?  She was about to rise when Jinzi came in with medicine for her.  "Mother, you must take this medicine.  You need it for the next few days to make sure the twins stay healthy.  Please take it."  "Well, medicine king Jinzi!  I'll take your nasty medicine!"  She swallowed it and grimaced.  "Where is your Fuqin?  I need to see him right away!"  "Mother, we haven't seen Fuqin for a week now.  He retired as God of War and disappeared.  He won't talk to any of us.  I don't know what else to tell you.  Please don't get upset or I will give you a sleeping potion."  "Bring me your brothers.  Bring Xue, JinDe and Baohu.  How are the quads?  Do they know?"  They have a lot of questions but they are ok for now.  Please rest in bed while I get my brothers."  He left the room to do her bidding.  Bai Qian scanned the room.  She couldn't sense him but she knew he was near.  Jinzi came back with Xue, JinDe and Baohu.  They all knelt by her bed.  "My sons!  It has come to my attention that your Fuqin has shifted his duties and withdrawn from all of us.  I just want you to know that I forgive him.  I did it to him.  I charmed him.  I should have known better.  I apologize to all of you now.  Please forgive me."  Xue spoke for them.  "Mother, we understand.  We just want our Fuqin to come back to us!  We love him!  We just hope he realizes that.  Just rest for now.  We still have a war to fight.  Without Fuqin, either JinDe or Baohu will have to lead.  Right now we are in a holding pattern."  "Well, I will rest for now.  Let me nap and then I'll be better able to process what is going on."  They left her to think.  After a moment, Bai Qian sighed.   "I know you're here, Mo Yuan."  She held her palm over her heart and shot a small beam of heat onto the dragon tear.  "If you insist on disappearing forever, just know that I will not live a life without you present in it.  In all my years, I've never known you to be a coward.  Who would have known that Mo Yuan, God of War, could be broken by a fox spell?  I'm so sorry.  I will return to Kunlun as soon as I am able.  I will move to the peach grove for peace until I have these twins.  I'm almost positive they are my last.  I was looking forward to them and the long life together that your Fuqin promised you.  How sad.  I'm going to sleep now.  I hope to see you one day soon.  If not, then I still have my dreams!"
     Mo Yuan heard her words.  He was so torn!  He just couldn't face his children.  What a hypocrite he would be, especially after he had berated JinDe for his mistreatment of women.  He almost laughed out loud.  "Mother, please forgive me for being so weak.  Why can't I just live a stress free happy life with my wife and children?  I love them so!!  Oh the disgrace I've brought to you and Fuxi.  I'm so sorry!!"  He wept into his hands and fell asleep curled up on the floor.  Bai Qian awoke from her nap refreshed.  She decided a good soak in the hot spring was just what she needed.  She gather her basket of oils and a clean robe and headed to the garden.  Baohu came running to her.  He took her basket and escorted her to the pool.  "Can I get you anything, Mother?  Will you be ok?"  "I'll be fine.  Go on, now.  I wish to get a good soak.  I won't be too long."  She threw up a barrier and removed her robes.  She walked into the water.  It wasn't hot enough.  *sigh*  "Mo Yuan always heated the water just right.  Guess I'll just have to get used to colder baths." She erupted her tails and floated on the surface.  She felt the water warming and smiled.  He was watching her.  He reached his finger tips into the water and warmed it.  He wanted to join her so badly!  He sighed.  Jinlong was still hurt at what he had done and the lightning punishment had injured him.  He stared at her in the pool.  Jinlong sighed out loud.  She heard him and smiled.  Her fox started to purr.  Jinlong was begging Mo Yuan.  "She needs us.  Our Bai Huli needs us!  She wants us!  We have to go to her."  Mo Yuan looked at the condition he was in.  He needed a bath.  He needed grooming.  Jinlong needed reassurance.  She was humming the song that he always played for her on his gugin.  He summoned his gugin and cast the spell for it to play that song.  She smiled.  She was still floating.  Her tails were waving in the water in a soft slow motion.  Mo Yuan sighed again.  Her body language was calling to him.  He wanted to hold her so badly!  He looked at her with longing and couldn't stand it any more.  He dropped his barrier.
     She saw him standing there, dried blood on him, disheveled, dirty.  She beckoned to him.  He took off his robes and joined her.  Bai Qian dunked him and washed his hair for him.  She combed it and got all the tangles out of it.  She gently washed his body.  She wondered why he had so many wounds.  What had happened?  They got out of the pool.  She very gently oiled his body.  She conjured a quilt under him.  He closed his eyes and rested for the first time in over a week.  She smiled a soft smile and laid down beside him.  She healed some of his wounds.  She leaned over and softly kissed his lips.  She whispered ever so softly, "I love you, Mo Yuan."  He placed his arm around her and drew her to his shoulder.  Together they fell asleep.  For him it was the sleep of exhaustion.  For her, it was the sleep of recovery.  They were still there hours later when Ye Hua probed her barrier and felt them together.  For good measure he strengthened her barrier.  He left smiling to himself.  All was right now.  Love had rescued his Da ge!  Yes indeed!   A silver smoke began to rise off the pool.  Mo Yuan's mother, Nuwa, appeared.  " My poor child!  All he wants is peace.  Rest Mo Yuan.  You shall recover and all shall be well!  Your Xiao Huli loves you very much.  Your children love you!  Rest now."  When they awoke later that night, jasmine petals were scattered across the pool and onto them.
     Xue and Baohu had been going through the scrolls on his desk.  He was surprised at how efficient Baohu was and how quickly they were able to categorize the scrolls.  "It seems we are finished for now.  Baohu, you are a great help to me.  Let's get the intelligence together on the snake realm.  We need to deal with that first.  I read your battle plan that you prepared for Fuqin.  I like it.  I'm sure Fuqin will use it if we go to war.  We will take this to Shushu to look over.  How about lunch first?  I have a really good cook now and you can see Fenli and Ali."  "Ok Da ge!  I'm hungry too."  They ate their lunch and Baohu talked to Fenli and Ali.  They told him they were happy now and that they loved their Fuqin.  They gathered their reports and went to Ye Hua's study.  He was in a much better mood.  "Shushu, we have reports for you.  Baohu is now my secretary.  I was able to go through the reports in half the time thanks to him.  He's very efficient!  These reports from the snake realm disturb me greatly.  They are preparing for war.  They expect ground troops.  I don't think they would expect air troops like JinDe, you and Fuqin.  Baohu's battle plan would win the war for us, in my opinion."   "I have news for you.  I went to check on your mother around lunch.  She was at the hot pool with your Fuqin!"  "What?!?  Fuqin came out?  Shushu this is great news!!  Call JinDe!  This calls for a celebration!!  Let's get Jinzi to cook Fuqin's favorite food!"  "Hold on there!  Why don't we let them be together before we break it up with celebrations.  They have been through a trial.  They need time alone."  "How insensitive of me!  Of course they do!  Come Baohu, let's go visit JinDe and tell him the good news!"  Bai Xue and Bai Baohu Zhe walked into the camp together.  It seemed rather quiet today.  JinDe was in his tent looking at the battle plan.  He had to admit, Baohu's plan was brilliant.  Just brilliant.  He was about to leave when Xue and Baohu came into his tent.  "Just the two gentlemen I need to see!  Sit down and discuss this plan with me!"  "We have news, JinDe.  Shushu went to check on mother and found her and Fuqin together at the hot pool!  Isn't that great?  He came out of hiding!  We are leaving them time alone for now."  JinDe cracked into a big wide grin!  "Nothing makes me happier!  Let him recover and then we can celebrate together!  I'm so happy!!"
      Mo Junjie was beside himself.  Nobody was telling anybody anything.  He decided to take matters into his own hands.  He marched straight into JinDe's tent.  With hands on his hips, he demanded to know what was going on.  "Would any of my brothers care to tell me exactly what is going on?  Hmmm?  I'm not a baby anymore!!"  "Junjie, calm down.  Mother and father have been through a trial is all.  They are ok and will be back soon.  What else is there?"  "Well, aren't we going to war?  Shouldn't we be preparing the army?"  "I'm trying to organize now.  They will be ready by tomorrow.  Anything else?"  "No, I don't suppose so.  I'm going to train then.  Er ge?  You would tell me if something was wrong, wouldn't you?  And you Da ge?"  "Yes, we would have a meeting with all of you.  Now go train.  We will see you at lunch."  Bai Xue was a little worried.  "Junjie has a sixth sense that tells him when things are not right.  I'll have to test him soon to see if I'm right!  I'm sure Fuqin could find out exactly what ability he has!  Well enough of that!  How about some tea?  Or maybe a cup of Zhe Yan's peach wine?"  "JinDe, you know you can't hold your liquor!  You should not be drinking on duty!"  "Xue, before you berate me, I was offering a cup to Baohu!  He's old enough.  How about it, Didi?  Are you game to test that fox constitution?"  "I might be!  Pour me a cup please!"  Xue thought better of it but shrugged.  Two hours later, JinDe was drunk, Bai Xue was tipsy and Baohu was just getting started.  "Well Er ge!  What do you think of me now?"  "Remind me to never again get into a drinking contest with a fox.".....his head hit the table.  Bai Xue laughed.  "I guess we better take him home now.  We will have to jump out of the camp.  I don't want his men seeing him passed out drunk!"  Bai Xue stood but grabbed the table for support.  "Well remind me never to get in a drinking contest with you either!  Here hold JinDe around the waist and I'll jump us as close as I can get.  Hold on!"  They got close but not quite there.  Mo JinDe was singing a stupid song, Bai Xue was staggering and Baohu was laughing.  It was almost dinner time.  They were walking by the entrance when Mo Yuan and Bai Qian were walking out together. 
      Mo Yuan woke up refreshed and happy.  He smelled jasmine in the air.  He sat up and saw the petals scattered on the water and across his and Bai Qian's naked bodies.  He smiled.  "Mother!"  He reached down and ran his knuckles down Bai Qian's cheek.  He called Jinlong forward.  "Qian'er, I love you!  I'm a terrible mate and a terrible dragon.  No wonder Fuxi wanted me to be celibate.  Please forgive me?  If you have it in your heart to forgive me?"  She opened her eyes and smiled.  "I forgive you, Jinlong.  It was my fault.  I should have never cast that spell on you.  Forgive me?"  "I forgive you!  Now let me talk to these twins.  I owe them an apology."  He placed his hand on her stomach.  He passed healing energy to them and purred.  They were ok and he was happy.  "I suppose we should get dressed.  I need to go see Ye Hua and explain myself.  And I need to see the children.  All of them."  "Very well, but if Medicine King Jinzi catches me messing around, I'm in trouble!"  "Well at least he is taking his learning seriously.  Well let's go.  I'll jump us to our room.  I don't have any clothes out here!"  They dressed and were stepping out the door when Bai Xue, Mo JinDe and Baohu Zhe were walking by.  Jinde saw his Fuqin, tried to stand up straight, staggered and pointed.  "Well if it isn't Fuqin!  Hello Fuqin!  Long time no see!  Are you all better now?"  Mo Yuan raised a brow and looked at Baohu and Xue.  "Oh don't worry about us, Fuqin.  JinDe can't hold his liquor is all!  Isn't that right, Xue?"  "That's right Fuqin!  Never get into a drinking contest with a Xiao Jin Huli!"  He bowed and staggered.  "I humbly apologize...... Fu......gin......!"  Bai Xue passed out, JinDe laughed and fell down and Baohu shrugged and looked his Fuqin straight in the eye.  "Well they did dare me!"  "I see you are like your mother!  Well help me get them home!  Since Jinzi is here, have him make them some sobering soup!  How much did you drink, Baohu?"  Only four jugs.  Barely enough."  "Did you say four jugs?  Mother is so proud!  At least one of you takes after me!"  Mo Yuan picked up JinDe.  "I'll just jump him home.  Mei Ying can fix the soup for him.    Can you take Xue home, Baohu?"  "Yes, Fuqin I can!  I'll be back for dinner!"  Mo Yuan took one look at Bai Qian and burst out laughing.  "I'll be back shortly."
     Mei Ying met Mo Yuan at the door.  She raised her brow and smelled the liquor.  "It seems JinDe and Xue got into a drinking contest with Baohu.  They are drunk.  He is not!  Who knew that Xiao Huli could put down the liquor like his mother?  He will need sobering soup.  Will you make it for him?  I'll just put him to bed for you!"  "Thank you, Fuqin for bringing him home.  I'll make the soup and I'll make sure I laugh out loud that Baohu drank him under the table!!  Feeling satisfied that all was well, Mo Yuan left Mo JinDe to his sweet wife.  Baohu was coming out of Xue's palace when he walked by his door.  " Ah, Fuqin!  Was Mei Ying mad?"  "No, in fact she was quite amused.  Did you get Xue settled?"  "Yes, Jinzi is making sobering soup for him."  "I'm actually amused that you drank them under the table.  I'm never going to let them live this down!  Now how about we go eat some dinner.  I need to see your other siblings."  "Are you really ok, Fuqin?"  "Yes, your brother realigned my spirit and repaired it.  You boys have grown up on me overnight, it seems."  "Fuqin, I wasn't joking when I said I wanted to train to be the God of War.  I'm dead serious."  "Baohu, by the work you have done, I can tell you are.  After this snake war we will begin training.  Now I must talk to your Shushu!  Ill be back shortly."
      Mo Yuan knocked on Ye Hua's study door.  Tian Shu announced him.  When he walked in, Ye Hua stood up and jumped over to him.  He hugged him so tight Mo Yuan thought he would never let him go.  "I should punch you good for shirking your duty, but right now I just want to hold you!"  "Didi, I....I apologize for shirking said duty and causing you pain.  Forgive me please?"  "Da ge, I forgive you!  Now tell me, how big of a hit did your powers take from those lightning strikes?"  He brought forth his aura.  "See anything?"  "You're disjointed.  You need realignment.  Zhe Yan is still here.  You should go see him."  "I'm afraid he might kill me instead."  "Come then.  I'll go with you."  They walked out of Xiwu Palace and into Shangdi Zhanzheng.  Zhe Yan was in an argument with Bai Qian.  "Xiao Wu, he left you in terrible condition!  I should hurt him really bad!  Zhe Yan, it was my own fault!  I cast the spell on him.  It broke my heart to see the condition he was in!!  You leave him alone!  He had wounds all over him!  What happened to him?"  "Well he should have since he went to the punishment rock and took 100 lightning strikes for what he did to you!!"  "What?!?!"  Why?!?  Why did he do that?"  He needs rest!  I'll go find him, but you better heal him, lao de fenghuang!!"  Mo Yuan walked in the room.  Bai Qian ran to him and hugged him fiercely.  "Tell me why you took lightning strikes?  Why?"  "I took them as punishment for what I did to you.  I'm fine, I just need realignment.  Zhe Yan would you please help me?"  Zhe Yan was still angry.  "Very well, but I'm still angry.  I need Jinzi to come here.  Let me go get him."
     Zhe Yan came back thirty minutes later with Jinzi right behind him.  When Jinzi saw his Fuqin, he ran to him and hugged him.  Since when did he get so grown?  Goodness!  "Fuqin, I will realign your spirit.  Come to your room and lay on your bed please."  He took his Fuqin by the hand and led him there.  Mo Yuan laid down and sighed.  He was home, really home.  Jinzi began to realign him.  He worked for over an hour but he finally stopped and smiled.  "Check your aura now, Fuqin.  You should be back to normal.  Mo Yuan brought forth his aura.  It was surging with power in golden waves.  He examined his inner power and found himself to be quite powerful.  In fact his power level was very high.  " Fuqin, I believe your power has been disjointed for a while.  That's why Jinlong couldn't control himself.  Call him forth, please."  Try as he might, Jinlong refused to come forward.  "He says he won't come out for now.  He's in seclusion.  I don't know what to say."  "Well then mother can deal with him!"  With the mention of Bai Qian calling him, Jinlong came forth.  "Whatever you do, don't set that Bai Huli on me!!"  "Ah I see!  So you're afraid of her power!"  "Huff, huff, huff!  I've never been afraid of anything in my life!"  "Ok then."  Jinzi stepped to the door.  "Mother would you come in here please?"  Bai Qian stepped into the room.  She looked at Mo Yuan and saw Jinlong there.  He was trembling.  He fell unto his knees and begged her.  "Bai Huli,  please forgive me for what I have done!  I couldn't live without you in my life!"  She ran to him and sat down beside him.  She hugged him close.  He was sniffing her hard.  Real hard.  "Jinlong, would you care to tell me why you are sniffing me so hard?"  "I forgot how nice you smell.  Like peach blossoms on a spring day."  "So Jinzi, why did you call me here?"  "I want you to cast that spell on Fuqin again.  I think he can block it now.  He was disjointed before.  Cast a barrier and then cast it."  She cast her strongest barrier.  She erupted her tails and cast the spell.  Mo Yuan looked at her and his eyes narrowed and he snarled.  He grinned.  "So, my Bai Huli!  You are indeed powerful, but now that I am healed, I can block you!"  She retracted her spell and lowered the barrier.  "Jinzi, you have healed your Fuqin!  You are indeed growing in power!"  Zhe Yan smiled.  "He will surpass me in power.  He's smart and learns quickly.  I'm not afraid to send him alone to heal someone now!  These younger boys are quite powerful!"
