You Forgot but I Didn't

Six months had passed by since Mo Yuan had taken Ye Hua away from the nine heavens.  Ye Hua was a changed little boy.  He had gone from being quiet, scared and reserved to being a happy, vivacious boy.  He asked a lot of questions and he learned very quickly.  The disciples of Kunlun found out quickly that Ye Hua learned fast.  Things he needed to know and things he didn't need to know.  He was constantly being watched and he knew it, but he didn't mind.  He knew his Da ge was just protecting him.  One thing he did know for sure is that his Da ge and his JieJie loved him very much.  It was more than he could hope for.
Mo Yuan had been teaching Ye Hua spells.  Since his dragon training had progressed so much, he thought it prudent to teach him more complicated spells for self defense.  He felt that Ye Hua could now be able to handle himself if he got into a tight situation.  He also knew that Ye Hua had a very high level of cultivation.  He taught him how to cultivate using meditation.  He had his own dais in his room, but he also used Mo Yuan's cave.  It was there that Mo Yuan found him on this particular day.  Ye Hua was deep into his thoughts.  Mo Yuan decided a little test was in order.  He probed Ye Hua's energy and immediately got rocked back on his rear.  Impressive.  He tried an outright attack only to have Ye Hua jump up and use his energy to throw him out of the cave entrance.  He wiped blood from the corner of his lip and called out to him.  "Ye Hua, it's Da ge!  I'm coming in!"  Ye Hua ran to him when he walked in.  His lip was still bloody and Ye Hua was wide eyed with fear.  "No need to be afraid.  You're power is increasing and you defended yourself very well.  I was just testing you to see if you could be caught off guard.  Using that spell to throw me off was a nice touch.  Throwing me out the door was unexpected.  I think it's time to start weapons training.  Also I have a gift for you.  Come with me."  Ye Hua reached up and healed Mo Yuan's lip.  He smiled down at him.  "This child had a lot of compassion in his heart", he thought.  "Is that better, Da ge?"  "Yes, all better!  One thing though.  From now on, use your energy to lightly probe whose energy touched you.  Your dragon will help you determine friend from foe.  If you had probed back, you would have known it was me.  Well let's go to the training ground."
"Today, I'm going to teach you how to call your weapon.  When you call, Qing Ming should come right to your hand.  Watch me now."  Mo Yuan stepped back and held out his hand.  He called Xuan Yuan right into it.  "Now you try to call Qing Ming.  Go ahead, you can do it!"  Ye Hua stepped back and held out his hand.  He called but the sword didn't come.  Not to be outdone, he knitted his brows together and tried again.  Xuan Yuan disappeared from Mo Yuan's hand and straight into Ye Hua's.  The surprise on both of their faces was worth pure gold.  "I didn't call your sword! Honestly I didn't!  Why did it come?"  "Well!  That was unexpected!  Here's what happened.  Father gave Xuan Yuan to me.  It was his blade.  Since you and I are identical, it can't tell us apart.  That's why you were able to call it.  You will have to change your spell slightly to accommodate your own blade.  Let me see if I can call your sword."  He probed into Ye Hua's room to feel the energy of his blade.  He held out his hand and called.  It came to his hand.  "I see now.  I want you to feel the energy of each blade.  That way you can adjust your spell to fit the energy of each blade.  This could be a good thing.  If you were ever trapped or captured or injured, you could just call Xuan Yuan and I would know you were in trouble.  I can do the same to your blade.  Now try to call your blade by using its signature energy."  Ye Hua focused and called Qing Ming right into his hand.  He broke out into huge grin.  Mo Yuan was very pleased.  "Now for some exercises.  Watch me then you repeat it."  Mo Yuan took his blade and made a series of moves.  His feet looked like a dance and his blade whistled around his body.  "You try it."  Qing Ming was heavy for him but he tried the best he could.  He only stumbled once and that was mainly because his blade was heavy.  Mo Yuan called a practice sword to his hand.  He took Qing Ming and gave Ye Hua the practice blade.  "Try it again using the practice blade."  Ye Hua went through the routine again.  Almost flawless.  He did it twice more without mistakes.  "Very good!  You learn very fast.  Tomorrow we learn a new one, but first I have something for you."  He held out his hand and a dagger appeared.  The scabbard was black and decorated with the black dragon motif.  The hand grip also had a dragon that swirled around it with blue sapphires for the eyes.  "I had this dagger made here just for you.  Its your official side weapon.  What do you think?"  Ye Hua pulled the blade out and noticed it was made out of black metal.  His name was etched into it with the dragon motif.  He grinned and held it close to his heart.  "It's beautiful!  Is it really mine?"  "Yes, it's really yours.  Why don't we go show it to JieJie?"  Ye Hua took off running and forgot all about his brother.  Mo Yuan smiled and starting walking off the field with one hand behind his back.
"Look, Die Feng!  Da ge gave me a dagger!  Isn't it beautiful?"  He showed him the dagger.  "Very nice,  Taizi Dianxia!  Very nice indeed.  I see it has your crown prince motif on it.  You can use it some day.  Why don't you show it to Zi Lan?  I'm sure he would want to see it too."  Ye Hua took off running as Mo Yuan entered the hallway.   "Shifu, I see you gave the young prince a dagger.  He's making the rounds showing it to everyone!"  "I expected as much.  Have you seen Qian Qian?  I need to talk to her."  "She's in your room.  I went there first to look for you.  You have a letter from HaoDe.  I put it on your desk in your study."  "Very good.  See if your can keep Ye Hua from hurting someone with that blade!"
Mo Yuan went to his room first.  He wondered why Qian Qian was in their room so much lately.  She was laying on the bed.  Mo Yuan smiled and sat beside her.  Her face was pale and he became a little concerned.  "My dear, you're sleeping your life away.  Are you ill?  Should I send for Zhe Yan?  Can I get you anything?"  "No I don't want anything.  The smell of food makes me ill.  I just want to sleep right now.  Please?"  Her big doe eyes were begging him quietly.  He got the quilt and covered her.  "I'll be back to check on you later then, my love."  He kissed her cheek and squeezed her hand.  A smile was his gift.  He left her and called for Die Feng when he was out of her hearing.  "Go to the Peach Tree woods and fetch High God Zhe Yan.  Tell him Qian Qian is ill.  Where is Ye Hua?"  "He's in the weaponry room reading up on daggers and their use."  Die Feng had a slight smile on his face.  "It seems the young Prince will ask questions but if you don't have answers, he goes straight to the books.  Shifu, I think he has read all the books in the library.  And he memorized them.  Is he a genius?"  "Yes, he is.  That's why I said watch what you teach him.  He doesn't forget it!"  "Shifu, is that why you know a lot?  Are you a genius and you never told us?"  Mo Yuan smiled that smile and patted Die Feng on the shoulder.  "That's for me to know.  Now go get Zhe Yan.  I'm worried about your Shimu!"
Mo Yuan sat down at his desk and opened the letter from HaoDe.  You would think they had come to grips with the fact that Ye Hua is where he should be.  He read through endless drivel but one part caught his attention.  He wants a report on Ye Hua's teaching to be not only a military commander but his conduct as a crown prince.  "Very well, you shall have your report and it shall be written by Ye Hua himself.  That should show him.  Ye Hua will set him back a notch or two."  He rose from his desk and went to the armory.  Ye Hua was reading while holding the dagger in his hand.  "Find the answer yet?"  He jumped when he heard Mo Yuan's voice.  "Da ge, I just wanted to learn the uses and purpose of a dagger, that's all.  Let me show you!"  He jumped up and made a few moves using the dagger in both hands.  When he was finished, he ran to his brother.  "Ye Hua you look very impressive with that dagger.  Are you feeling comfortable enough to keep it on your person from now on?"  For a moment Ye Hua thought but when the answer hit him he smiled.  "You want me to be able to protect myself even if you're not around, right Da ge?"  "Sometimes, Didi, you are too smart for your own good!"  He tapped his forehead.  "I got a letter from HaoDe today.  He wants a report on what you have learned and what you are learning as to your role as Crown Prince.  I want you to write the answer.  Do you think you can?  Before you send it, I'll read it to make sure you hit every point."  Ye Hua bowed at Mo Yuan using proper etiquette and answered him with the haughtiest voice he could use.  He stood tall as he replied.  "High God Mo Yuan, I will be more than happy to provide this service for you.  In fact, I will write it with relish and use my own dragon seal."  Mo Yuan nodded in return.  "I see you are learning very well!  Well go write your letter.  JieJie is not feeling well.  I sent for Zhe Yan to come check on her.  Let's go look in on her, why don't we?"  A nod and he cloud jumped out of the room.  "Hmmm I didn't teach him that!"  Ye Hua was looking in the door but he wouldn't go any further.  Wretching sounds were coming from the room.  Mo Yuan decided to let Ye Hua come in anyway.  Qian Qian was bent over a basin.  Ye Hua got to her first.  "JieJie!  Let me help you back to bed!"  He took her elbow and led her to sit on the bed.  "Da ge told me you were ill.  Can I get you anything?"  His sweet face was etched with concern.  She reached up and patted his shoulder.  "That's very kind of you, Xiao Lianhua.  I'll be ok.  I'm sure your Da ge sent for Zhe Yan who should be here at any time!  Just let me rest now."  She laid back down and Ye Hua covered her up with the quilt.  He turned to look at Mo Yuan with very sad little eyes.  "It will be ok, Didi.  Zhe Yan will be here soon."
No sooner than the words were out of Mo Yuan's mouth than Zhe Yan walked in with Bai Zhen in tow.  Ye Hua rushed forward to take his hand and lead him to the bed.  "JieJie is very sick!  Can your heal her?"  Bai Zhen looked at Mo Yuan and mouthed the word "JieJie".  Mo Yuan had to explain that's what he calls her.  Zhe Yan looked at her pale face.  He sat down next to her and read her pulse.  He scanned her and stood up smiling.  Mo Yuan and Ye Hua were standing together waiting in anticipation.  "Congratulations!  It looks like you're going to be a father!  It's looking like twins.  I'll get some medicine for her nausea and set a diet for her to eat.  Remember that as a fox, she will take frequent naps.  I'll check on her progress and be here when its time for delivery.  I'll go get Chang Shan to bring medicine now.  I'll see my way out!"  "Da ge, does this mean JieJie is going to have babies just like me and you?  Will it hurt?  Will it take long?  Will they be golden like you?"  "I don't know, Didi.  We will just have to wait and see when they get here, won't we?"  Bai Qian looked at them.  "You two remember I'm the one doing all the work here!"
