When Nikei first met Mikado Sannoji, he was infuriated at having his leadership stolen from him and the group being moved on a path towards evil. Even though he didn't care much about the ethics of the plan, since he was dependent on it too, it was maddening to see the people he was close with - he didn't dare call them friends - slowly drive themselves to insanity from the fear.

Nikei had sworn that if any of them was hurt of Mikado went back on his word, he would betray the plan and make the wizard pay. But when they arrived, Mikado had somehow not predicted that Utsuro was already on the island and the brother of Yuki Maeda. The Voids were blessed again, and Mikado had changed their plan to keep an eye on everybody and make sure that Utsuro is not harmed.

Even so, that wasn't an excuse for him to be tolerating the wizard in his room, laying on his bed, and reading one of his damn books. At least he left his shoes on the floor and was being quiet, but Nikei knew him well enough to guess that this silence would only go on until Mikado was bored or otherwise wanting to pester him. The journalist sat at the table and kept working regardless.

Nikei had to hold in a sigh as he heard a book close and the wizard get off his bed. He heard the sound of footsteps as Mikado walked up to his desk, and the wizard leaned over to look at the laptop. "What do you want, Mikado?" Nikei grumbled in a deadpan voice.

"Oh, I was merely curious about what your article is on. There's so many topics in the world, yet I'm up to date with virtually none of them." Mikado calmly replied. "Ah, this is about exposing the Togami family's business practices?"

"Yeah, I caught an interview with Yuri earlier today, and he told me everything he knew. Combined with some accounts from Kokoro, Utsuro, and Monocrow, I have enough to make a structured article about them." The journalist then lightly chuckled, never turning his head away from his work. "For a guy who has fire powers, it's a wonder that you don't get out much."

"Wow, rude!" Mikado whined, and Nikei payed him no mind in favour of continuing to write his article. The blonde then spotted the notepad and snatched it from the desk, drawing a shout from the shorter boy. "Hm, what's in here? The cursive is quite neat and proper, is this where you keep all of your notes?"

"Yes, and that's why you have to give it back!" Nikei snapped, reaching up to try and grab the notepad, but the wizard held it out of reach. "I need it to finish my article, asshole!"

"It's quite neat that you're able to write whole paragraphs of point form notes like this, I could never do that." Mikado marvelled as the journalist fumed. "I know that you're going to be mad, but I honestly wish  could have your skills. I don't know how to write whatsoever."

"You WHAT?!" Nikei exclaimed, leaning back in his chair in surprise. However, he leaned too much and began to fall backwards on his chair. "A-Ahhh!"

"Careful!" The wizard yelped as he caught Nikei's chair and pushed it back up and away from the threat of falling. A small intrusive thought told him that this wouldn't be the hardest that Nikei had fallen, but instead of voicing it like all the other times, Mikado pushed it down and focused on the present. "Well, I knew you'd be mad. As I said, I don't know how to write whatsoever. I know how to read, spell, type, and code, but I suppose I never found a reason to learn writing with a life like mine."

"What the actual fuck, Mikado." Nikei sighed, then closed his laptop. "Heh, I guess I am better than you at something. But honestly, it's kind of embarrassing to see someone unable to do something basic like writing. I guess I should teach you, to at least soothe my nerves."

Mikado suddenly hugged Nikei, his mask making a joyful smile. "Oh, Mr. Yomiuri! I knew you could help me in the end! You're amazing!" He praised, and the journalist's face went bright red as he struggled to get out of his hold.

"Let go of me! Just pull up a chair already, jeez!" He exclaimed, and the wizard obliged as Nikei got some pencils and paper. He couldn't believe that he was going to teach Mikado of all people how to write, or even that he was tolerant of the wizard in the first place. "Alright, you're going to learn romaji letters first." He sighed.

As Nikei wrote out the alphabet and slowly began to show Mikado how to write it without using cursive, the wizard copied his actions and did his best to listen to the journalist. They later stayed up half the night, and Mikado had no more intrusive thoughts while learning from Nikei.
