The next day had come and almost gone, Adelaide was stood with Rothbart, they were both watching the moon rise and with her hands on her hips as she stared at the glimmering lake. Rothbart folded his arms and stepped towards her.
"Now, Adelaide I have a task for you to do. Would you be able to?" He asked, Adelaide gave a small nod of the head and her gaze flickered to him.
"What do I need to do?" She asked, Rothbart smiled slightly and lowered his arms to his side and headed towards the school.
"I just need you to get Coral to try and save Ariel. I have some things I want to discuss with her. Without her annoying friends around." He explained, Adelaide nodded and the two headed for the school.Meanwhile Coral was just packing up her bag, she had to go and meet up with Pitch to ask him some questions. She grabbed her bag and headed out the door, she locked it behind her and was about to move when she heard someone running through the corridor calling her name. Coral frowned and she walked forward a little to see Adelaide running towards her, Coral frowned and Adelaide stumbled causing Coral to hold out her arms and steady the princess.
"Adelaide?" She asked, Adelaide panted for breath and she shook her head in a panic.
"Please hurry!" She cried, Coral searched Adelaide's eyes.
"What's wrong?" She asked, Adelaide gripped Coral tightly.
"Rothbart he's trying to take Ariel!! She wailed, Coral pulled away from Adelaide and began to run down the corridor.
"She's at the pool!" Adelaide said, Coral picked up her pace and nodded.
"Just stay there princess!" Coral called as she sprinted for the pool. Once Coral was gone Adelaide straightened out her dress and smirked before heading to her own room.Ariel was sat at the edge of the pool humming to herself, she sighed softly, this was her favourite place to be, it was calm and quiet. The lights flickered above her and Ariel froze. She glanced around and pulled her feet out of the water. She pursed her lips as the lights flickered again, she slowly rose to her feet and glanced around.
"Is someone there?" She asked, holding her hands over her chest, keeping herself from shivering. It was silent. She took a step back away from the waters edge, the room was getting colder and the hairs on her skin rose. "Hello?" She stopped and her stomach dropped as she turned to see Facilier standing in a darkened corner, with a single dimly lit light above him.
"Let's talk Ariel." Falcifer said, Ariel shook her head and she took a step back.
"I know who you are." She stammered, Falcifer scoffed and walked forward edging closer and closer to Ariel.
"This- this is wrong and you know it." She said, Facilier shook his head and raised his hand.
"Don't make this harder Ariel. I have a job to do." He said, Ariel felt tears in her eyes.
"Fal... please it doesn't have to end like this." She said, Falciller rolled his eyes.
"No. Now come here!" He yelled, Ariel screamed loudly as Falcifer reached for her, she stumbled backwards and fell into the pool. Falcifer sighed and clicked his fingers,
"Alright my friends. Time to get her." He ordered, the shadows around the room began to slide into the water, Ariel broke the water's surface and screamed as the shadows moved towards her. Her arms and legs kicking out trying to keep the shadows away. Falcifer watched as Ariel's head bobbed up and under the water, he folded his arms and watched darkly.
"Help!" Ariel screamed between gulps of water and air, her arm shot up as a shadow reached for her, however a light pushed back the shadows. Falcifer frowned confused and groaned loudly.
"She can't harm you! Get her." He turned to the shadows and raised his arms in anger. The shadows turned to Falcifer before sneering back at Ariel, her eyes widened in fear and she dove under the waters swimming underneath the shadows and heading towards the other side of the pool.
"She's trying to get out." Rothbart joined his partner and they both watched Ariel trying to get out of the pool.
"Took your time." Facilier said, Rothbart rolled his eyes.
"I was preoccupied." He answered, Ariel screamed out as a shadow lashed at her legs, blood began to pour from her wounds, the tears fell off her cheeks mixing in with the blood and water.
"Don't kill the poor child. You seem a little riled up." Rothbart commented, Facilier shook his head.
"Then she should have come quietly." He muttered, Falcifer frowned and glanced up at the locked door, it glowed blue and then flung opened, Rothbart glanced at the door.
"That was fast." He mused, as Falcifer slipped away into the shadows.
"I think your queen is a little too good. Take Ariel's voice. Coral still doesn't know it's me." He said Rothbart nodded as he watched Coral step into the room, her eyes blazing red and her hair standing on end.
"GET THE HELL AWAY FROM ARIEL RIGHT NOW!"
"Coral!" Ariel cried out in joy, the shadow tightened its grip and dragged her under. Coral looked towards the red head before running forward, she shed her jacket and dove into the waters, quickly advancing towards Ariel and striking the shadow with an ice blast. Coral pulled Ariel towards her and swam to the surface and quickly pushed her onto the side of the pool.
"I swear Rothbart, I will kill you for touching her."
Rothbart laughed.
"I'm surprised. What about Adelaide? Didn't you just leave her, alone?"
Ariel trembled clutching at her legs, Coral growled before she turned to Ariel and her eyes softened slightly. She placed her jacket around Ariel's shoulders.
"You aren't going to like this... forgive me Ariel." Before Ariel had time to respond, Coral was on her feet and sent a burst of flames towards Rothbart and his shadows.
"YOU'RE GONNA DIE!" She screamed as she ran round the pool blasting Rothbart again sending him hurtling towards the wall. Ariel bit her lip, the shadow's stayed at bay around her, the light shining brightly. Coral jumped backwards as the shadows launched an attack on her, she threw her hands forward and set them alight. She lowered her arms and flicked her wrists her body turning dark and glowing with electricity. Rothbart groaned and fell away from the wall, he clutched his side and smirked at the Pirate.
"My, my your darkness is growing..."
"You're testing my patience." Coral hissed as a shadow sliced into her hip, she gritted her teeth together and clasped her hands together. She closed her eyes and screamed out the windows smashed and roots from the trees came through and made a barrier between her and the shadows. Rothbart watched her and she opened her eyes.
"Tell me, why do you need the princesses? Who's working with you?"
"Where's the fun in that? Why don't you ask your friend?" He mocked, Coral hestitated for a moment. She hadn't heard from Hans for a while. He pointed towards Ariel who glanced up at Coral, "My offer still stands Coral, I can give you the world, everything you want. You will have a crown, all you have to do is join me, I know someone who would love that."
The shadow's slammed against the roots, Coral turned her head to the side to look at Ariel.
"Coral..." She whispered, the light surrounding her keeping her safe from the free roaming shadows. Coral clenched her fists and pulled out her sword,
"No chance." She stepped back and bit her lip drawing blood, she turned around and headed for Ariel, sword ready, Ariel's eyes widened.
"AIR!" She screamed the roots snapped and turned to dust sending around a small hurricane, Rothbart frowned, and placed a hand on his hip.
"Did she attack Ariel? Coral dear-" He stopped, a small drop of blood left his lip and he raised his hand, "Coral how...?" He turned his head to the side to see Coral stood behind him with the sword protruding from his shoulder, she smirked and pressed the sword further in.
"Never let your enemies get behind you."
"You went for Ariel."
"She's been moved." Coral said simply, Rothbart looked up to the place where Ariel was once sitting, he scanned the room slowly she was sat just by the benches, safe and unharmed.
"You little demon."
"I know." Coral's voice went dark, Rothbart pulled himself off the blade and turned to face Coral. She dropped the sword and he watched her body start to spark. She raised her hands slowly, as her skin began to ashen and her eyes began to darken and the black veins began to appear on her skin. Her palms glowed blue and she threw her hands forward the lightning shot from her palms and smacked into Rothbart sending him flying into the bleachers. The shadows pulled back, as Coral walked forward, the water began to bubble and rose up before it surged towards Rothbart, he let out a roar as he was smacked back and forth by the water. Coral watching him quietly as her body began to glow orange. Ariel watched on in horror as Coral attacked Rothbart in quick succession, she watched as Rothbart tried to retaliate but to no avail.
"I thought you were good at dark arts?" Coral asked, Rothbart growled as he struggled to his feet. She raised her hands above her head as her hair rose around her, she splayed her fingers before dropping them, and the floor erupted into an earthquake. Rothbart groaned as the earth clamped around him. Coral grabbed her sword and walked forward swinging her blade back and forth. "It's over. You lose." She said, as she stood in front of him, Rothbart looked up at her and didn't speak. She smiled slightly and raised her sword.
"You won't hurt another princess. Do you understand?" She said, Rothbart smirked and Coral frowned before letting out a scream, but as she brought down the blade her whole body froze. Her eyes widened and she shivered.
"Why can't I move?" She thought, her heart hammered in her chest and she gulped, "this feeling." She tightened her eyes, she had felt this before, her powers dropped and her skin changed back to normal, the veins disappeared and she was no longer sparking. Rothbart chuckled and he threw his arms to the side freeing himself. Coral opened her eyes as she felt shadows wrapping around her body keeping her still.
"Coral!" Ariel let out a scream and Coral turned her head her body still shaking as Rothbart grabbed Coral by the hair causing her to yelp in pain as he turned her towards him.
"You will belong to us. Never forget that. Now, watch as we take Ariel." He said, Coral shook her head.
"No!" She barked, Rothbart took his other hand and placed it on Coral's chest and yanked back pulling the shadows that were holding her in place to let go. Coral gasped for air and Rothbart let go of her hair and pulled both hands back before thrusting them forward and Coral sending her flying into a wall. Ariel stood up however a shadow wrapped around her feet and she didn't move, tears rolled down her cheeks as Coral struggled to stand up. Rothbart was above Ariel and smiled.
"Now, you will come with me." He said, he raised his hand and brushed it in front of Ariel's eyes and they closed she fell forward and Rothbart picked her up. Coral stood up and shook her head.
"Please no." She whimpered, Rothbart turned to her and smiled, before raising his hand his palm glowed and a firey spear appeared
"Oh this is for earlier darling." He laughed, Coral's eyes widened and the spear left his palm and flew towards her, her eyes widened, she didn't have time to dodge and it slashed through her stomach, pushing her back into the wall. She slid down and her eyes began to close as she watched Ariel disappear with Rothbart.Winter here
