Chapter Thirty-Three

           

Facilier loved the darkness he blended in perfectly and his friends on the other side made sure he always had company. He had finally made Rothbart show his hand and force him to start their plan earlier than he wanted it. Unbeknown to the Shadow Man his friend had begun to follow him.

Facilier slipped into the corners of the school and Hans crept after Facilier he knew the shadows belonged to him, so he kept out of them. He wouldn't normally follow people but Facilier had recently begun to act strangely he was keeping his distance from everyone in the castle and befriending the princesses, he had voiced his worries to Gaston but the male had just brushed them aside he was more concerned with flirting with the Bimbettes Claudia, Laura and Paula and in turn Hans had decided he would find out what was going on. He walked along quietly, until he watched Facilier slipped down a corridor, Hans' eyes widened and he ran forward and jumped around the corner to find an empty corridor. Hans licked his bottom lip in frustration and turned and walked away heading to the infirmary to sit with Coral. He was fed up of the school days dragging and he just wanted to be away from all the others in this school. Facilier reappeared at the end of the corridor and watched Hans disappear, he smirked slightly and turned his attention to his shadow.
"Seems like our friend is becoming suspicious... how unfortunate for him." He said causing the shadow to grin excitedly, he turned around and walked away heading to find Rothbart.

That evening Ariel had found herself at the school's pool. She swam the length repeatedly, feeling a happiness she hadn't felt in a while, she sighed as she turned over and floated on her back, she hummed happily to herself and closed her eyes. Ariel had known many of the princesses and villains for a long time and for the last few weeks she was starting to feel sorry for Coral, she turned back over and began swimming up the lengths. Ever since the new princess had arrived, Adelaide, Coral had been acting differently to her and to all the other princesses. Not only that Adelaide had, had a strange effect on Hans. Even though the school found Ariel to be away with the fairies, she noticed everything, the little changes in her friends and even in the villains, the shimmering light that filled the hallways was being replaced by a revolting darkness that was constantly growing. She headed towards the edge and sighed, she thought back to the English lesson.
"Rapunzel what was that?" Flynn whispered.
"I- I don't know... I just suddenly felt like I had to blame someone for hurting Coral..."

Ariel had overheard the two love birds from Corona, they had also felt differently towards the pirate. She slowly pushed away from the wall, suddenly the doors opened, and Ariel ducked under the water holding her breath, she stayed pressed against the wall.

Gaston stormed into the pool followed by Facilier and Hans at a distance.
"Where does that boy get off trying to steal my girl from me when she's in a coma!" Gaston yelled. Hans rolled his eyes, as Facilier pulled out a coin from his pocket. "Why is he allowed to see her and I'm not?" He huffed, Hans leant against the wall and shrugged his shoulders.
"We could always get rid of him." Facilier chuckled as he let a coin run through his fingers Gaston laughed darkly but shook his head.
"No, it would be obvious we had done it." Gaston said, Hans frowned and Facilier's eyes flickered between Hans and Gaston. "But it is a good idea."
"Shame..." Facilier mused, the raven-haired male rolled his eyes and looked to Hans.
"So anything you need to tell me?" Gaston asked. Hans looked to Facilier who was watching the water smiling. 

"Not much, if you'd show up to a lesson once in a while..." Hans left the statement hanging and Gaston shrugged his shoulders.
"Hmm I see... Right I need to go I have a lovely little meeting with Paula... if you know what I mean." Gaston's laugh rumbled through the pool as he left. Hans and Facilier stared after him, an anger boiling through the two of them.
"He just doesn't understand what he has in front of him." Facilier ground out, Hans nodded absently in agreement until he snapped out of his anger filled thoughts.
"Wait what? You agree with me about how he treats Coral?" He asked, the voodoo man' tensed and he glanced over at Hans.
"Out of all the people in this school, Gaston is messing with the wrong person. All to play with simple, idiotic and bland woman. I know you, for a fact, have more taste and turns out so does one of the heroes." He explained, he shrugged his shoulders, "I must be going." He tipped his hat to Hans and left, Hans frowned and crossed his arms over his chest, a strange feeling washing over him as he thought about what Facilier said before he headed to bed for the night.
