It's been a day since her confession that Jisu never believed and her reconciliation with the others, and here the city lies below a dark and gloomy cloud looming over them, threatening a huge downpour of rain.
The upcoming cold weather sets a mood that every person would feel. Certain sounds of rain drops pitter-pattering as it comes down and impacts surface, just makes most people wanna curl up in bed and let the warmth of it consume them.
Any person who likes to go out on other hand would be bummed at the sudden weather change. One day the sun is at its highest, showing off its majestic shine all at the same time it delivers its blistering heat. Then the next day a dark, heavy and gloomy clouds curtains over the sun and rains down its withheld liquid.
A certain someone who likes to aimlessly wonder around New York. Surely wasn't s pleased from the gloomy day that welcomed her as soon as she woke up.
With her current situation. As Yeji is alone with her brother, it surely didn't help since her brother is preoccupied on his own wonderworld.
Jisu the one that should've compensated and brightened her gloomy day, is clearly absent in the place. As she went to where her job. Yuna also isn't present due to her responsibilities of attention her classes and both Chaeryeong and Ryujin started their search for the two roaming demons.
Usually she'd be out wondering about the streets of New York, but since the first few drops of rain had fell. All of her intentions of ever leaving her apartment went out the drains.
"Why are you so grumpy Yeji, cheer up!" Hyunjin exclaimed, walking closer and sitting next to his sister while offering a the grumpy cat-eyed girl some food.
"Ughhh, it's so boring in here."
Hyunjin chuckled. "Here use this," he stood up and fished out his phone, handing it over to Yeji. "Atleast now you won't get bored."
Yeji took the thin glassed screen block handed to her and proceeded to examine it. "Uhh, how is this supposed to compensate for my boredom?"
"You don't know this?"
"No? Why, is this supposed to be a rare artifact that our ancestral angel left for us?"
Hyunjin broke down laughing, causing a mass confusion from Yeji. "It's a phone Yeji!" Hyunjin clutched his stomach, unable to contain his laughter over his sister's oblivious state.
"What is that? I know telephones, but not that!"
"Huuu-ha, oh my, that's the funniest thing I've ever seen and heard today!"
"This thing is pretty thin, I wonder what'll if I fold it!" Yeji threatened, which got Hyunjin's attention as he immediately yoinked it away from Yeji.
"This cost so much Yeji and how do you not know what this is? You've already been awake for weeks and you still don't know this?"
"You do know my first arrival here, phones were yet to be invented right?"
"I guess you do have a point," Hyunjin shrugged. Standing up shortly after and walked off, leaving Yeji to her own comfort.
Left alone with boredom still clawing up in her head. Yeji stood up from her comfortable position and lazily walked over to the window, with the intent of looking out and watch the rain drops fall.
Atleast this once she'll try to amuse herself with another alternative activity, different that of her usual habit of having a daily journey around the city.
Drowsy and slightly hunched. Yeji looked out the window and did what she originally planned on doing. As she looked out, it's exactly what she expected, just plain old rain, same old movements when it rains.
People sprinting to a nearby roof or structure to shield them from rain and a bunch of speeding vehicles splashing water towards the side as they drive over puddles of water.
But as she slowly hovered her eyes up towards the building across hers. There she saw a man. Standing at the very edge of the rooftop, not moving a single muscle all the while he stared down the cat-eyed girl, with such an ominous and unpleasant aura.
This man stood tall, towering over six feet, broad shoulders and a noticable sculpted body.
Sporting a fashionable and sophisticated style. Suiting a three-piece blood red colored suit and a vest with the same color, pairing it with with a charcoal grey dress shirt and a pattered pocket-handkerchief. Topping it off by having a brown faux leather shoes that finished his overall fashion.
This man is properly groomed with his scruff outlining his perfectly chiselled jaw-line and we'll defined cheek bones. Wet slicked back hair that had some strands flowing down between his perfectly arched and pointed eyebrows and his unavoidable sparkling eyes.
This man is perfect. Way too perfect. But something about this man is off putting, like it's devilish.
Yeji slowly hovered her eyes away from the man, but making a slight eye contact with man's eyes in the process.Just then a shocking sensation started to swell up from Yeji's back, specifically where her wings are located.
Slowly burning her back with such unnerving and unsettling sensation. It's as if she was directly being placed in a furnace and is slowly burned alive.
The burning sensation can be compared that of the ever lasting, inextinguishable flames of hell.
It is at that point where Yeji realized who stood before her. As the sudden realization hit her, so does her locomotive reaction. Immediately relaying a message to her brain to scurry away from the window.
Stumbling backwards and tripping from the sofa. A loud thud echoed across the livingroom, as she fell down onto her butt and back. Alerting Hyunjin who's casually munching on an microwave heated leftover chicken and making him run towards Yeji.
"What's wrong? Have you gone nuts for you to just fall over like that?"
Without replying, Yeji stood up and held the taller guy's shoulder and pulling him up towards the window to which she pointed to the man standing menacingly and ominously across the other building.
"What're you pointing abou— o-ohh m-my..." Hyunjin gulped, doing the same exact thing that Yeji did when she first saw the tall figure across them.
Right there and then Hyunjin made the sign of the cross. Asking for some protection. For what's about to come may not be favorable to them.
"Y-Yeji," Hyunjin called out to Yeji. His trembling hands and wavering voice as he ordered Yeji, portrayed everything of how big of a magnitude the threat that's in front of them. It made Yeji alot more nervous than she already was.
"Yeji I want you to run, if that man decides to come towards us."
"Hyunjin, I can't do that—"
"Damn it Yeji if that man gets you then our mission is all but over!"
"I can't Hyunjin, we don't even know if that is legitimately him!"
"Whether it's him or not. It doesn't matter," he paused, still staring at the man on the other building. He held his sister's hand. "Yeji, just run away and leave me here."
"Hyunjin you'll die, atleast let me help fend him off," Yeji pleaded, but Hyunjin only shook his head.
"You can't..." Hyunjin then strengthen his grip over Yeji's hand. "...And if I do so. Then I'll die knowing that you survived and returned home. Atleast through that, I can properly apologize to you."
