Battered and bruised, Ryujin flew back to where her other friends had initiated their own combat. The negative thoughts slowly rotting her sanity, hoping deep inside that it had gone according to plan.
Hard rain crashing against her skin, wincing and biting her lips as she held in the stinging pain on her open wound at her left shoulder and a big gash on her right leg.
Her battle didn't go smoothly and to put it simply, it went about as bad as she expected it to be. Almost as similar to their second encounter, the demon went guns blazing and battered Ryujin at the early stages of their clash. Even managing to once again puncture the blonde-haired girl, only this time it wasn't in any vital parts.
But the longer it went the better Ryujin adapted to the demon's unpredictable plethora of strikes, successfully dodging and even predicting the next few moves.
In the end she succeeded on slaying the demon, avenging her death and completing her task.
But despite her victory, celebration is still far from reach. Unless they defeat both demons only then they could celebrate.
But as she neared the vicinity. Her assumptions turned into reality, her arrival on the battlefield came in too late.
Folding close her wings and landing onto the area where they had started their assault. She was welcome by Hyunjin's motionless body, lying on the ground around his own puddle of blood. A visible gaping hole on his midsection.
Far in the distance, there Chaeryeong laid prone at the same time she proceeded to pound the ground.
At that moment Ryujin knew. They failed.
Ryujin slowly limped her way towards Hyunjin, taking her a moment to arrive beside the angel. Upon arrival she lowered herself to a kneel, cringing as her wound on her leg stretched wide.
"H-hyunjin?" Ryujin spoke with a shaky voice, grabbing Hyunjin's hand and waiting to see if the wounded angel would reply.
And much to her relief Hyunjin's eyes started flickering, opening and closing all at the same time his breathing returned. Albeit quiet unstable.
Hyunjin's averted his attention towards Ryujin, suddenly tightening his grip on the blonde-haired girls' hand. "W-w-we f-fai— guargh!" Hyunjin spewed blood out of his mouth, unable to finish his words.
This immediately prompt the blonde-haired girl to assist his wounded friend, holding his head up and giving him a comfortable head position. "I-I know, don't force yourself to much Hyun," she said, as slowly her expression saddened.
Seeing their leader, their main battle hardened general fall and be fatally wounded in such a gruesome fashion. Dealt a big blow to not only Ryujin but also to Chaeryeong.
Not only that but this demon also managed to bring Yeji down to hell without any sort of struggle. This put up an impression that they were never meant to win this battle in the first place.
It's almost as if they had just fallen into a trap, all the plans that they had made rolled directly into the deceptive and advanced minds of their opponent's plans.
Meaning also this demon is skilled and powerful enough to pummel both Hyunjin and Yeji, the strongest of the four of them. With Yeji being a seraphim and Hyunjin the next in line to be an Archangel.
With that thought coming across her mind, Ryujin couldn't help but think what would've happened if they had ganged up on the demon.
Would the outcome had a major change?
Or
Would they have lost either way?
The answer would be left as is, a mystery.
Theorizing wouldn't matter anymore since the outcome had already been brought down, they had suffered a humiliating defeat. A defeat that they may never recover from.
"I'm sorry Ryujin," Chaeryeong's voice filled with sadness comes fading in, as she arrived to stand beside her two fellow angel companions. "I-I couldn't do anything until the very last moment," she continued with tears flowing down onto her cheeks.
"It's alright Chaeryeong, it's not your fault," Ryujin paused momentarily, placing her right arm onto Hyunjin's legs and with her left arm placed on his shoulder. Lifting him up shortly after. "Things just didn't go our way."
Turning and facing Chaeryeong, Ryujin sighed. Slumping down her head and spoke. "What do we do now?"
"We'll return home... For now."

[author's note]
This is where the first half ends, at this point everyone of y'all should've figured out who the antagonist is right? If not then, uhhhh... just try figuring out harder😆.
Now regarding the story, I have some stuff planned for the next half of the story. Meaning new characters would be introduced. And mostly this chapter is kind of a mystery so to speak. Soooo~ I'll leave y'all to figure out what Chaeryeong meant by "return home".
Plus it seemed as if I'm rushing this updates but in reality I'm not, I'm just straight up motivated right now. But writing the fights scenes are a pain and surprisingly I somehow pulled through.
But before I go, thank you all for the support that this story is getting. The story has like 6k reads and 700 votes, and for that I thank you all.
Anyways I hope y'all enjoy this update, even though it's short. Until then, I hope y'all would wait for me and the next half of this story. Keep safe and healthy!♥️
