"I never kissed anyone!" I shouted at him. "Why are you accusing me? I'm keeping my promises!"

"I don't know anymore... yeah, maybe you never kissed someone... yeah, I believe you. But was it so hard to inform me that you are in a bar? Can I please... hear it from you?" he asked frustratedly.

I didn't answer it. I am at fault, I confounded him by not telling about my whereabouts kasi baka magalit siya. I know my limits and I am just enjoying things, he would never liked it if I tell him that I'm always at bars. And I don't want to mess his mind, he's doing his things and I am letting him... why can't he let me be?

"Alam mo ba na mababaliw na ako rito kakaisip sa'yo? Kung ano ang ginagawa mo? You never replied to my texts, Martiza. Then someone informed that you are a frequent customer on parties," he told me seriously.

"Hindi mo ako naiintindihan! You know that College is hard! I am refreshing my mind!" Balik ko sa kan'ya.

"I'd let you, Martiza! I just want you to inform me so I know what you're doing!"

"Hindi ko masabi dahil baka magalit ka!" At nasabi ko rin.

The silence became powerful. My chest was heaving. I can hear his heavy breathing on the background.

"Bakit ako magagalit?" Kalmado niyang tanong, pero halatang nagtataka. "Wala ka namang ginagawang masama... hindi ba?"

Napapikit ako at sumandal sa dingding.

Wala naman akong maling ginagawa pero bakit parang ganoon na nga?

"Hindi ko masabi kasi baka magalit ka na nasa bar ako... Hindi mo ako naiintindihan, e. College is hard. Wala ka rito, hindi pwedeng maghihintay lang ako sa tawag mo..."

Hindi ulit siya nagsalita kaya nagpatuloy ako.

"I just entered college... Alcaeus, bata pa ako... gusto ko rin maranasan 'yung gano'n..."

Isang malalim na buntong hininga ang aking narinig.

"Ang akala ko ba handa ka? Pumayag ako sa gan'to kasi sabi mo handa ka at kaya mo. Alam mo na ikaw lang ang inaalala ko."

"We don't have time for each other, Alcaeus. You are busy and so I am! It's just a bar! I know how to control myself!"

"I can't understand what you are trying to say and what is this all about, Martiza," he was struggling to speak.

"What I was trying to say is let me be! Don't terrorize my mind! I know my limits!"

"How is that terrorizing you? I haven't said anything yet!"

"I just know that you're heading there!"

"I just want you to inform me!"

"Hindi mo ako naiintindihan!" Sigaw ko sa kabilang linya kaya natigilan siya.

Bumuntong hininga ako.

"I just want to do things—"

"Are you really ready?" He cut me off.

My lips parted.

"Are you doubting me?"

I couldn't believe it! Ako ang naghihintay dito tapos gan'yan ang itatanong sa akin? Are we playing games here?

Then he cursed.

"I fucking knew it, this wouldn't work."

That was his last words and I never heard anything about him... not only days... not only weeks... but for one whole month.
