George stepped barefoot through the grass, the air was warm enough that he could sit outside in a T-shirt and be comfortable.

It was evening as George tended to sleep during most of the day and stay awake at night.

He found it easier to get things done at night, and easier to avoid people.

  He heard footsteps.

He didn't need to turn around.

He knew Dream long enough to know when he was here.

"What do you want?" George asked.

He and Dream had been fighting, Dream had dethroned him.

Even if Dream claimed it was for his own safety that didn't change the fact he was angry.

"George, you can't stay mad at me forever, " Dream said.

"Who wanna test that theory?" George shot back.

  "George-"

"Don't George me!" George snapped around to look at Dream, "You know what! I hadn't ever even seen your damn face! Who has? You don't trust me with kingship, you don't even trust me to know what you look like!"

  Dream looked completely shocked.

"I thought you cared, I thought we had something Dream, you were my best friend, I trusted you with my life, " Dream remained speechless, "You don't even trust me with my own life."

George turned around, tears formed in his ice-blue and soft-brown eyes.

George heard something hit the ground.

  He turned around.

Dream stood there, his mask laid on the ground by his feet.

Tears ran down his face but he had a confident look still.

George looked at him in complete shock.

His face was covered in scars, his eyes a shade of green that almost looked fake, you certainly couldn't see it in a normal person.

Dream threw up his arms, invited George into a hug.

George wanted to walk away, to turn away from him and tell him to not talk to him again, but he just... couldn't.

He didn't know why but he could break eye contact.

  This was his best friend.

Dream was right, he couldn't stay mad at him forever, he was sick of being mad.

He threw his arms around Dream.

"I don't wanna be mad anymore, " George mumbled.

"Then don't, how can I make it up to you?" Dream asked.

Dream met George's gaze after the hug broke, he knew exactly what George was gonna ask for, as much as he hated it if he wanted George to trust him again, he would have to give him his kingship back.

  George confirmed this.

Dream sighed, "Fine, but if you die I'm gonna be so pissed off, "

  George laughed.

  "We go now?" Dream asked.

  George nodded.

  Eret sat feeling content.

They were happy to make a new friend the previous night.

Eret was a person of few friends despite their friendly personality, not many people looked past their betrayal.

  They leaned back.

Suddenly they heard the door swinging open.

They worried, it was either a friend or the person they feared most.

And unfortunately, it wasn't a friend, far from a friend.

  Dream walked over.

"Hello, Dream, " Eret played it cool.

Maybe he was just checking in, Eret thought.

Although that hope was destroyed when they saw George walk in behind him.

Eret stood up, they knew this was about to be a fight.

"Eret, my friend, " Eret hated that Dream was calling them a friend, "I need something from you."

Dream stepped forward, Eret stepped back.

"That would be my crown, huh?" Eret knew this all too well, this wasn't the first time they had been dethroned.

Dream walked forward again, Eret walked back until their back was against the wall.

They were back into a corner with nowhere to run.

"Well, you're not as dumb as you look, " Dream coldly joked.

"Can't say the same for you, " Eret said sliding their hand behind their back and grabbing the handle of a dagger on their belt.

They pulled it a held it in front of their chest.

  Dream laughed.

He stepped back letting Eret walk out back into the empty room.

"You want a fight?" Dream cocked his head to the side.

"Okay, let's dance, " Dream pulled out a sword.

Eret looked down at the tiny dagger, even properly equipped they knew they were no match for Dream.

And with nothing but a dagger, they was dead for sure.

Dream made the first move, he jumped forward clashing his blade with Eret.

Pushing down so hard on their dagger Eret had to set back so they wouldn't fall.

Eret pulled the dagger away and ducked to avoid an incoming attack from Dream.

They tried to move behind Dream to get a hit on him but Dream was quicker than them.

He swiftly turned around throwing Eret against the wall.

Eret was pinned, their feet barely touched the ground and they held their head up as high as possible as Dream pushed his arm against Eret's neck.

  They struggled for each breath.

They moved their hand to try and push Dream away but was unsuccessful.

  Dream smiled coldly.

He pulled away his arm letting Eret fall to the ground gasping for air.

  "Pathetic, " Dream commented.

Eret tried to get up but fell back down to their knees.

  Dream chuckled.

  "Damn, you're completely pathetic."

Eret couldn't speak to defend themself.

Dream kneeled down, "You've served your purpose, I should kill you, " Dream whispered to them, "But I won't, because I'd rather you live with your guilt, " Dream stood up.

  Everything blurred.

Eret found it harder and harder to make out anything.

They saw Dream kicking the dagger away from them.

Heard him talking to George but could make out a word he was saying.

  It just sounded like mumbling.

  Eret's head hurt horribly.

  Their hands shook.

Everything suddenly went black as they collapsed onto the floor.

Defeated and ashamed of themself they laid unconscious on the floor.

  Half wishing Dream killed them.
