Blind to the Truth

"Ranboo, don't give me that I'm fine shit, " Ranboo was surprised by the dark tone in Eret's voice.

  "Eret please just-"

"Let me help you goddammit!" Ranboo met Eret's gaze.

They looked upset like they were watching an old friend throw themselves into something they wouldn't be able to dig themselves out of.

  "Eret-"

"Please, I can't watch you do this to yourself, " they mumbled.

  Ranboo remained silent.

So did Eret, but unlike Ranboo they didn't remain still.

They pulled Ranboo into a hug, Ranboo told there slightly shocked by the sudden embrace.

"Don't do this to yourself, promise me you won't do this to yourself."

Ranboo looked at Eret, if he said he promised, he'd be lying.

"You're not promising because you know you'll break it aren't you?"

Ranboo wanted to object but couldn't find the words.

Eret sighed, "I need you to let me help you, I don't want you to do things you'll regret." Eret lowered their voice when talking about him doing something he'd regret.

Ranboo took a deep breath, "I'm trying... I'm trying." he fought back tears.

"I know, I'm here, I just need you to trust me, to trust me enough to tell me the truth about what's happening with you, " Eret put their hand on his shoulder.

  Ranboo nodded.

  Eret smiled softly, "Thank you."
__________

  Eret had left.

It had taken Ranboo a long time to convince them to go.

He knew they only wanted to help and he was thankful for that but now was a time he needed to be alone with his thoughts.

He understood Eret's concern, picturing if it was Tubbo in the situation he was in helped him to understand why they were panicked.

Although he didn't understand why Eret was acting as if they were a parent concerned for their child despite them only knowing each other for about two weeks.

He found comfort in their words though, something about the way they spoke like they were an old friend he had known for years.

He leaned his head back and closed his eyes.

  "Hello."

No, not now, why now, why ever? He didn't want to open his eyes.

He didn't know what of two things he would see.

Either the thing that claimed to be himself, despite having Dream's voice and mask.

  Or it was really Dream.

He didn't know which was worse.

"I know you can hear me, it's not nice to ignore people now is it?"

  Dream laughed.

  That laugh.

It was unmistakable, it gave off a cold feeling, something about it sent chills down his spine.

He tried to convince himself to open his eyes but couldn't bring himself to face whatever was in front of him.

But he knew he couldn't stay there with his eyes closed, he couldn't live his life blind and wandering around hoping he didn't walk off a cliff.

He opened his eyes.

Ranboo met Dream's gaze.

Or at least the most he could, since he couldn't see his eyes.

"I can ignore you, and I will, " Ranboo commented.

Dream chuckled.

He walked over and sat beside Ranboo.

"Get away from me, " Ranboo snapped.

Dream didn't move.

He cocked his head to the side, "Why do you hate me? I'm not as bad as you act like I am, " Dream had a taunting look on his face.

"Actually no you're not as bad as I act like you are, " Dream smiled, "You're worse, " Ranboo stood up.

He went to walk out of the panic room.

Ranboo felt Dream's hand on his shoulder.

He didn't turn to face him just closed his eyes wishing he had never told Eret to leave.

"Come on now, we can be reasonable." Dream spoke.

Ranboo stayed speechless.

Dream took his hand off his shoulder and stepped in front of him.

"How about I let you in on a little secret of mine, " he smiled coldly.

"And what would that be?" Ranboo almost was worried by this.

Dream put his hand on his mask, sliding it off his face.

His green eyes seemed to pierce Ranboo's soul, the scars that covered his face hollow reminders of battles long fought.

Freckles dappled his face, one scar looked as if the person who had given him it had been aiming to blind him in one of his eyes.

And if they had swung about an inch more to the left, would have succeeded.

Another sat on the corner of his mouth and had been always been visible even with the mask on.

  Another-

He was pulled back to reality by Dream speaking, "Trust me more now?"

"Why in the world would I trust you? What, just because you took off a mask? I'll make it clear that I hate... no, I despise you, " Ranboo snapped back.

Ranboo pushed past Dream leaving the room.

Despite not looking at Dream he could still feel his green eyes boring into the back of his head.

Dream mumbled something he couldn't hear but he didn't care he just wanted out of there.
__________

  Eret worried for Ranboo.

They knew something was wrong and him continuously denying it made them more concerned.

They figured that it would be best if they stayed around, try to give him enough space, and help make sure he won't do anything he'll regret at the same time.

Eret felt silly for parenting him like this, he was old enough to make his own choices.

But Eret knew that no matter how old someone was, without support, they would do things they would lament.

They had made the same mistake.

Now they just wanted to stop someone else from doing the same.

Eret walked along the prime path.

They didn't know where to go, they just wandered around, hoping they'd find someone like Niki or Fundy.

Although, the first voice they heard didn't belong to one of their friends.

  But Wilbur.
