Meghan looks at George has she finish reading the letter and smiles.
"I remember that party Emma decided she would dress in a copy of a outfit that she saw on a 90's pop star. She managed to pull it off perfectly and I remember that photo got her a modelling contract. She studied and only model when we were on holiday from college. That party was so much fun remember when I introduced you two".
George starts laughing, "She held her hand out to me and said hi. I'm Emma the friend hurt her and I'll kill you. Then she hugged me and told me I gave great hugs".
"It was her coming out party so to speak and once her picture was in the newspapers everyone wanted her at their parties and movie premieres", says Meghan
"Most people would've used the fact that they were now known as the adoptive daughter of a billionaire to their advantage".
Meghan smiles sadly, "Emma was more interested in going to school. The modelling was her dream but an education was more important to her. She made a lot of money modelling on the side and because of that. She was never broke or in need of any money during college to buy whatever she needed or wanted".
George draws Meghan closer to him in bed and places an arm around her shoulder. "That night was one of my happiest memories. We're both very lucky to still have people in our lives that we love".
"I love her George so much even more so now that she's gone".
"We both loved her darling and it's sad that she's gone. My family is here with us now let's enjoy the time we have with them before they go back home".
"Okay".
Meghan refolds the letter carefully and places it back in the envelope and places it in the box.
"Let's watch some tv I think Emily in Paris is on Netflix I keep hearing this show is so bad it's kinda good".
George gives Meghan the tv remote and she switches the tv on and they settle down to watch the program.
A cry could be heard on the baby monitor, "I'll go", says Meghan when she sees George getting up.
She walks into Arthur's nursery to see Maria picking him up.
"Oh Maria you don't have to do that".
"He's my grandson I don't mind at all", she checks him over. "I think he's hungry I'll make a bottle up for him".
"I'm sure Grace is doing that as we speak".
"Thank you again for inviting us to New York. You know most people would've been happy to not see their in-laws for several months".
"You're my family like you were before my marriage to George".
Before Maria could answer Grace walks into the nursery holding a bottle.
Thank you Grace", Meghan takes the bottle and hands it to Maria. "Why don't you feed Arthur I'm sure that he loves his grandma feeding him".
Maria takes the bottle and begins to feed Arthur. When he was finish eating she burps him and lay him back into his crib.
Meghan and Maria walk out the room leaving Grace with Arthur.
"Well goodnight I'll see you tomorrow".
"Goodnight Meghan".
A week later everyone was getting ready for the hospital benefit.
"Tonight is going to shock a lot of people isn't it. This is the first time they will see us as a married couple out socially and with both our parents".
"Let them think whatever they want Meghan tonight is about having fun and introducing Alice to people who can help her in her career".
"Meghan takes George's hand in hers. "Are you ready?"
"You better believe it Mrs Ricci".
"I'm still getting use to that name Mr Ricci or should I say your highness".
"Darling the title is not something I use in American only in Italy my principessa".
They look in on Arthur before they leave and make their way to the limousine. When they arrive where the benefit was taking place whispers could be heard.
George holds on to Meghan's hand, "Don't forget to breathe darling and remember you're the queen bee here. These people will smell fear so don't show any to them darling. Let them fear you instead".
George and Meghan make their way inside the ballroom and start greeting the other guest. They see Meghan's best friend Natalie and walk over to her.
She hugs Meghan then George, "It's really nice to see you guys and George I can't glare at you like I would like to. But I'll say this make sure you treat her right".
George just smiles aware of the eyes trained on him in the ballroom, "Natalie you're looking lovely as always but I don't see your husband here tonight".
"He's running late", Natalie walks off without saying anything else.
"Was that really necessary you've embarrassed her".
"Unless there is something I don't know about I don't see how asking about her husband would be embarrassing".
"This is all we need", says Meghan as she puts a fake smile on her face.
Coming towards them was the upper east side most notorious gossip monger Wanda Beecham the slim 40 something brunette sashays towards them.
"George and Meghan Ricci it's lovely to see you both here for my little benefit". She looks at Meghan's ring finger. "Nice ring, you've great taste George but then again you always did". She turns to Meghan, "I'm glad my party is the one you and your family choose to come to first".
"It's a benefit Wanda by the way I promised my sister in-law I would introduce her to women making waves in their field. Those at the top of their game I would be honoured if you impart some of your wisdom to her", Meghan turns to George.
Wanda looks genuinely pleased at the compliment, "Thank you my dear. I'm happy for people to know my money was made off the sweat of my brow not off laying on my back. I'm sure I can find a internship for her somewhere in the company".
"Thank you Wanda, Alice wants to go into business. I want her around people with their heads screwed on".
Meghan turns to George, "Darling I'm just going to find Alice and make the necessary introductions".
"Okay I see a client I want to have a word with". He kisses her then leaves.
"Tell me your royal highness everyone is dying to know the details about your son. Yet you haven't told the press or anyone in your circle about him I'm curious as to why?"
Meghan stops in her tracks and turns to face Wanda half expecting a smug smile to be plastered on her face.
