Chapter 3: Understanding

"And that's why Little Homeschool was built!" Pearl finished proudly at the story she just told, whether she liked it or not she would never get tired of telling the story of how they overcame Homeworld and how Steven was able to mark the beginning of a new Era.

Y/N sat there in awe at what he just heard, he couldn't believe that he was seriously sitting next too some Alien heroes, but before he could get a single word out, a voice spoke out to him. "Why don't you tell us your story? Amethyst mentioned that you just recently move here." Garnet said keeping her stoic face while Pearl nodded in agreement for Y/N to share his story. 

Y/N laughed a little bit at their eagerness to know his story. "I don't really want to disappoint either of you ... but my story isn't as interesting as yours ..." Y/N started.

"My parents, they brought this house for me as a gift, back in my home town I saved some people from these weird monsters ... so, they let me move here." Y/N finished with a sigh.

Pearl looked shocked to begin with. "Weird monsters? You don't surely mean corrupted gems do you?"

Y/N looked back at Pearl and Garnet with confusion. "Well, the monsters did have gems on their bodies kinda like yours ..."

Garnet looked at Y/N. "When was this? Did you fight them recently?"

Y/N relaxed a bit, knowing they had gotten confused on when he fought them. "No no, a couple of years ago now, I moved here recently because the attacks stopped happening."

Both Garnet and Pearl instantly relax upon hearing this. "That's good news then, for a moment there I thought we had missed a few."

"How did a human like you stand up to them?" Garnet asked with curiosity prominent in her voice. 

Y/N looks at Pearl and Garnet for a brief moment, then looked at the clock and realised the time. "Oh err would y-you look at the time ... I best get going now, don't wanna stay up to late ..." He chuckled nervously as he hoped they would just let him head home. Pearl and Garnet just glanced at each other before Pearl gave Y/N a suspicious look. "Well ... if you want to go home, we're not stopping you. It was nice meeting you Y/N." Pearl said as she continued her suspicious look but chose not to ask and instead got up and took the cups to the kitchen. Garnet too didn't follow up with another question but she still took a mental note of his escape from answering the question. "It was good seeing you, take care." She flashed a thumbs up as Y/N waved goodbye to the both of them. "Thanks for having me, it was nice talking with you guys." Y/n said as he closed the door behind him and began his journey back home.

Pearl looked back at Garnet with a raised eyebrow. "Why didn't he want to answer you? Do you think he's hiding anything?" She said as she finished washing the cups.

Garnet simply shrugged. "Beats me, though there is something different about him."

Pearl looks at Garnet with even more of a confused face. "How so? He's just a human, he seems normal."

Garnet sighed knowing she couldn't explain it. "I don't know, there's something unique about him, I just can't put my finger on it." 

There was a silence between then for a moment until that ended up being broken by Amethyst coming back through the door. "'Sup dudes ... where's Y/N?" She said as she looked around.

"He left to go back home, didn't want to stay up too late." Pearl said still cleaning up in the kitchen. "Oh ... didya tell him about gems and stuff?" Amethyst asked while she flopped onto the sofa next to Garnet.

"We did, he didn't really seemed phased by it." Garnet shrugged.

"Didya learn anything about him?" Amethyst said.
