Chapter 41: Telling Steven

"Garnet? How are you feeling?" Y/n said as he kneeled beside his lover as she sat on the sofa.

"I'm fine, little missy here likes to kick a lot." Garnet chuckled as she rubbed her belly.

"She's a fighter, probably gets that from you." Y/n chuckled along with her as he rested his hand on her belly.

The two sat in silence as Garnet relaxed on the sofa, Y/n waiting hand and foot for his lover, making sure she was comfortable at all times. Garnet thought of all the things that were going to happen, she was excited to meet her beloved little Sophie, every part of her was, Ruby and Sapphire couldn't wait to either.

"Should we speak to Steven? Its about time we tell him." Y/n said, bring Garnet out of her daydream. Garnet pondered for a moment, Steven would be relieved and happy that Garnet wouldn't have to give up her form, but would probably be upset that his mother didn't either. It was hard to say, Steven and Rose ... Pink? Have had a complicated relationship, she did well and truly love him, but its uncertain whether she meant for him to find pieces of her past.

"I agree, we should talk to him today." Garnet adjusted her visor, trying to find out where he would be and if there was a warp pad anywhere near him, luckily, there was. "We should go now, its the only time that he's near a warp pad." She said, standing up with some assistance from Y/n.

"You sure we should be going now? You've been a bit off balance while walking, you sure you're okay?" Y/n asked, helping her stand up right.

"I'm fine, its just Sophie is all, she really likes giving me trouble." Garnet chuckled as she kissed Y/n on the head.

"Well, if you're sure, lets go." He responded with a smile as the two of them left the house, hand in hand. 

It didn't take them long to reach the warp pad and even less to actually arrive at the destination, it was a forest with a nearby town just a few minutes walk away. "I can carry you if you want." Y/n chuckled as the two stepped off the warp pad, Garnet held onto Y/n and her stomach.

"I'll be fine, come on, Steven will be sitting in his car in a parking lot nearby." Garnet said, once again adjusting her shades as the two of them headed towards Steven. 

Of course, Garnet was right, he was busy eating some food and not paying attention to Garnet and Y/n sneaking up to the car.

Y/n knocked on the window, alerting Steven but as the young man exited the car, Y/n made sure to cover up Garnet's belly with his body. "This is a nice surprise, what're you two doing here?" Steven questioned as he closed the car door behind him.

"Well ... we have a surprise for you!" Y/n said as he slowly moved out of the way to give Steven a perfect look at Garnet's extended belly.

"YOU'RE PREGNANT!" Steven shouted as he started to slowly glow pink. "G-garnet! I can't lose you, you're my mom -" He choked on the last word as tears began to leak from his eyes.

Y/n felt bad for doing that but before he could do anything, Garnet stepped forward. "Don't worry Steven, you're not going to lose me. I'll still be able to look after you and this little cutie pie ?" Garnet said as she cupped Steven's face.

"Y-you mean ... you aren't going anywhere?" The young man asked hopefully as his colour began returning to normal.

"No, I'm not going anywhere, you'll be able to help me raise this little one." Garnet said with a smile as she took on of Steven's hands and placed it on her extended belly.

Sophie felt the sudden contact and decided to kick out at it, making Steven giggle at the how much of a fighter the little one is already. He sniffed, moving his hand away from Garnet's belly and rubbing his nose with it. "At least you're not going ... but how do you know?" Steven questioned.

"Garnet saw multiple futures of her having children and not needing to give up her form ... she spoke to Peridot about it and she agreed it should be possible ..." Y/n spoke up, standing next to Garnet.

Steven thought this through, he trusted them but his thoughts brought him back to someone else who had been pregnant. "B-but ... what about ... mom?" He asked, saying the last part uncomfortably, even he didn't know what relationship he has with his mom, yeah he loved her and she loved him but ... it was too complicated to even begin unpacking.

"Steven, me and Peridot believe that all gems have a choice to bear children, the choice being whether or not they want to give up their gem. Rose did that for you to be special, the pregnancy I'm having won't be anything like that ..." Garnet started, choosing her words carefully as she pulled Steven into a hug.

"I know you want to be more human, but with that gem, as sad as it is, you'll never be fully human and that's okay." Garnet finished as she felt tears leaking out from Steven's eyes.

"Steven if its any consolation, I think you're more human than some humans out there." Y/n added to the conversation as Garnet pulled him to the hug.

The three of them stood outside of Steven's car and hugged it out, they weren't sure if Steven was crying because of something they said or if it was just to let everything out like he did the day he broke down.

"Wh-what are you gonna call it? Wait ... is it a boy or a girl?" Steven asked, breaking away from the embrace and rubbing his eyes.

Garnet chuckled, resting a hand on her belly. "Its a girl and she'll be called, Sophie."

"Wait ... 'Sophie' isn't that the human name Sapphire used during that baseball game with the Rubies?" Steven tried to remember.

"Yes. Ruby, Sapphire and Y/n decided on the name, we thought it was a lovely one." Garnet smiled as she felt Sophie move around some more.

The three of them spoke some more as they stood outside of the Dondai, Steven extremely happy with the idea of Garnet being Pregnant. Sadly, Garnet and Y/n couldn't stay out for too long as she didn't want to overexert herself, especially this far into the Pregnancy. Soon enough, Y/n and Garnet bid farewell to Steven, promising to keep him updated with everything that goes on.

(Sorry this wasn't really a long chapter, but we are coming to a close on this fanfic in general. I will probably make a second book but I'm just not sure when. I have made another fanfic called 'Steven Universe: Time Split', I wrote it with the help of a friend! Please check it out and let me know what you think.)
