Chapter 6: Training

Garnet sat close by as she watched Y/N do some exercises to get him in better shape. Garnet had offered to train him as she could see the potential he had, he had happily accepted the training. She was glad that he did because she didn't want Jasper getting to him, not after what she did to Steven. True it wasn't really her fault, Steven did ask to train him which she accepted but ... she didn't help.

Garnet shook her head, she didn't want to think about what Steven went through, all that matters is that he's doing much better now. Thankfully she didn't have to think about Steven for long as her thoughts were on someone else.

"Should we tell the others?" Sapphire said as she and Ruby sat next to each other in Garnet's mind.

"I don't know ... I don't think Y/N really wants the attention ..." Ruby said as the two of them continued to watch Y/N do his exercise through Garnets eyes.

Garnet brought herself back to the real world and walked over to Y/N.

"Y/N, can I ask you something?." Garnet said as Y/N stopped his exercises.

"Uhh ... sure?" Y/N said with a confused face.

"Would you like the others to know about you?" Garnet asked, looking down at the human.

Y/N was quiet for a moment. "Not yet ... I'm not special like Steven, I don't really know what I am ... So please, can we keep it between us?" He sighed looking at the floor.

Garnet bend down slightly to his height. "Just because you're not a gem, doesn't mean you're not special. We're all special." She said with a smile on her face.

Y/N looked to and stared into her star shaped visor and blushed. 'S-she's so pretty ...' He thought.

"I-I should really head back h-home now ..." Y/N said trying to look away from her.

Garnet stood up straight and nodded. "That would be best. Let me walk you back." She said.

"O-okay, l-lets go." Y/N said trying not to blush anymore.

Y/N and Garnet set off from the training area, it was in the woods not far from Y/N's house. Garnet looked down to Y/N seeing him hum as they both continued towards the house. She too started humming along, trying to stop the conversation between Ruby and Sapphire.

"H-how is this possible? W-we're a fusion!" Ruby said with confusion and frustration.

"Ruby, please. I don't know either but we both very clearly feel something. Let's just wait and see what happens." Sapphire says as calmly as ever.

The two voices in Garnets head once again went quiet, leaving Garnet to think.

'I-I'm a fusion ...'

"Garnet."

'I'm made of love ... do I ...' 

"Garnet!" Y/N said loudly, breaking the thought process of Garnet. "We're here." He said as he pointed towards the front door of his house.

"I'll take my leave then." Garnet said as she was about to walk off.

"Wait!" Y/N said, reaching out and grabbing her wrist. "Why don't you come in for a bit?" He said, blushing a bit.

"Mmmm ..." Garnet pondered. "Okay." She said, walking back towards the front door with Y/N by her side. The two of them went inside, Garnet went straight to the living room and sat down while Y/N headed to the bathroom. 

Garnet hummed to herself, looking at the familiar room she currently sat in, before long she noticed a draw slightly open. As she went to close it, she looked inside and saw a letter. 

'To Y/N ... I wonder who this is from ...' Garnet thought as she opened the letter. Reading it through, not much stuck out to her, the letter was from his mom that's certain but that's until she got further into the letter.

'Y/N please don't feel guilty for what happened. It wasn't you're fault the couple died, it was those monsters. I know you've been protecting the people here and we haven't been giving you the best life but I worry for you Y/N ...' The letter read.

Garnet fazed off her shades with a pained look in her eyes. 'This is why he's here ...' Garnet thought. 

It didn't take long for Y/N to come back into the room and see Garnet reading the letter, he simply sighs and sits down, patting the sofa next to him. Garnet had fazed on her shades as she sat next to him. "Y-Y/N what happened?" Garnet asked, already knowing.

Y/N didn't look at her. "It was a corrupted gem ... I was too late and it ... didn't hesitate ..." He said trying not to cry.

Garnet noticed this and fazed off her shades once more, hoping she didn't scare him. She turned his head towards her. "It wasn't your fault, you must believe that ... you've saved many humans but you can't beat yourself over the ones you couldn't." Her words were soft and precise as her three eyes looked deep in Y/N's soul. He sat there, staring, stunned at her three eyes. "I know but ... I can't help it ..." He said looking away from Garnet. She knew his pain, it's similar to Steven's but yet quiet different. 

"Garnet ... can you ... help me ... Become stronger?" Y/N said look back at Garnet. 

"That's what I was planning on doing." She said chuckling. "Y/N, I know it might be hard for you to move on but you've got us now ... to help you." She said as their faces gradually got closer together. "You've got ... me ..." She finished just as their lips were about to join.

Three loud knocks were heard from the other side of the door. Making Y/N jump. "I'll get it." He mumbled.

He opened the door to be greeted by Amethyst. "Yo dude, you seen Garnet? She's got a geminar at Little Homeschool in 5 minutes." She said casually. 

Garnet soon appeared behind Y/N. "I know, I would've made it on time Amethyst." she says as she walks out the front door.

"Woah hold on why were you in his house for? What were you doing ~" Amethyst asked causing Y/N to blush. Garnet didn't care as she simply shrugged. "He was telling me a story." Garnet Deadpanned. "Come on Amethyst, we don't want to be late." She said as she began walking off.

"Hold up Garnet!" Amethyst said catching up with her. "Seeya Y/N, don't forget to share the juicy deets with me ..." Amethyst teased as Garnet simply continued to walk away.

Y/N sighed as he closed the door and sat down. 'Did we almost kiss?' he pondered as he stretched his legs. 'No ... No we couldn't have, must've been my imagination ...'

...

The warp stream ended with Garnet and Amethyst in the centre of Little Homeschool.

"Come on G, tell us the deets, what was going down?" Amethyst pleaded, wanting to know what happened.

"Amethyst, leave it be. Nothing happened." Garnet said as she walked off.

'I ... we ... almost kissed him ...' Garnet thought as she prepared for her geminar ...
