Chapter 31: Sickness

The next day Y/N was sitting in the kitchen, drinking a cup of hot chocolate to ease the sore throat he had. He had felt down in the dumps most of the Morning, sadly though, Garnet wasn't there to help him. She had left yesterday after the nap they took together, she wanted to check in on the other gems to see how everything was going and told him that she would return sometime today. He couldn't wait till she came back, he just wanted someone to sleep on to help him get past this fever that he caught. 

Sighing, Y/N sank into the kitchen chair and started sniffling. It was like he had hay fever thanks to all the snot that came out of his nose. Never-the-less he finished what hot chocolate was left in the cup and cleaned it out, once he finished he moved to the living room and sat down, rubbing his eyes.

"Man I hate it when I get fevers ... my eyes feel like they're burning ..." He said to no one but himself as he continued to rub his eyes to alleviate the burning that was taking hold of them.

After a few seconds more, he stopped and looked around. He didn't know what to do if he was honest, especially with this fever he didn't feel like going out anywhere. He sighed as he decided to close his eyes for a few minutes, not to sleep but to give his eyes a break from being open. 

His eyes were closed for a total of five minutes before he heard a knock at the door. Grumbling he slowly got up and made his way to the front door, unlocking it and opening it to see his wonderful girlfriend, Garnet.

"Hello Love." She said with a smile but it soon turned into a frown once she scanned his features. "What's wrong? You don't look well." Garnet added.

"Just got a cold is all ... I'll be fine in a few days ..." Y/N said as he yawned, moving out of the way so Garnet could come in.

Garnet entered the house as Y/N closed the door behind her, she looked around and noticed it was darker than before, probably because of his cold. "Would you like some soup? I know Steven liked it when he had a cold." She said as she looked at the human next to her.

"Yeah please, if you don't mind." Y/N said with another yawn erupting from his mouth. "I think I'm gonna sit down ..." He added as he clumsily made his way back to the living room, sitting down on the sofa with a thud.

Garnet watched him, she felt bad that he had to deal with his cold but soon walked into the kitchen and started preparing a bowl of soup. It was a simple tomato soup with a few slice of bread, since it was soup it didn't take long to finish so she picked up the bowl and bread and took it to the living room.

Once she entered she immediately heard light snores coming from her lover which caused her to giggle so she placed the food on the table in front of him and leaned down so her lips were right beside his ear. "YY/NN ~" She sung in a whisper close to his ear.

Y/N heard Garnet sing his name which caused his eyes to slowly open and to be greeted by his Girlfriend. "Hey there sleepy head, I made you you're soup." Garnet said as she stood up straight and gestured to the food on the table.

"Mmm?" He hummed as he looked up. "Oh! Thank you Garnet! Sorry ... I guess I fell asleep ..." He chuckled as his eyes began stinging once more.

Garnet giggled. "Don't worry about it. Enjoy ~" She said as she gave him a kiss on the cheek, sitting beside him on the sofa.

Y/N smiled as he took the bowl of soup and put it in his lap, soon he began eating the food with a smile, knowing that he was being looked after.

Y/N had finished the soup Garnet had kindly made for him. He was relaxed within Garnet's tight embrace, the two of them didn't watch anything but rather just sat in silence and took in each others presence.

"Hey Garnet?" Y/N asked, breaking the silence.

"Hmmm?" She responded as she lifted her head up slightly to look at the human next to her.

"How ... are you not pregnant?" He said, getting straight to the point.

Garnet was put off by this question but before she could respond he added. "I'm just wondering, I mean, we've do it so much and you're not even pregnant ... I'm not complaining or anything just surprised by it in all honesty ..." 

Garnet too pondered this, they weren't trying to get pregnant but it was a wonder that she wasn't already. "I'm not sure, maybe I haven't shapeshifted the right parts." She shrugged, it was possible, she vaguely remembers what rose did when she got pregnant.

"It didn't matter anyway, I'm sure we'll find out how you can get pregnant sometime in the future." Y/N said as he snuggled into her chest. 

Garnet hummed in response, pulling the human closer. Y/N gladly accepted the snuggles that Garnet was giving out but soon sat up and started coughing into his hand. It went on for a few minutes with Garnet giving him reassuring pats on the back to help clear his system.

"S-sorry ..." He said shyly as he managed to stop coughing.

"It's okay but I think you should get some rest. Lets get you to bed." She said, standing up and offering her hand to him.

Y/N smiled and took her hand as he stood up, the two of them quickly made their way upstairs and into the bedroom. Thankfully, Y/N was still in his pyjamas so he didn't need to get changed. He opened the covers of the bed and jumped in, sighing in relief as the warm of the bed made him shiver. To his surprise, Garnet too joined him underneath the covers, pulling him close as they lay intertwined with each other.

"I love you Garnet." He said as his eyes slowly shut.

"I love you too." Garnet responded as she kissed the top of his head, successfully sending him off into a deep sleep.
