Chapter 35: Renovations

It has been a couple of days since Garnet and Y/n had discovered that they could indeed have children. In those days, Garnet had finished reading the book Mrs Maheswaran had let her borrow and she was starting to understand how human pregnancy worked. Like she said before, she already knew how it partially worked because of Rose but never asked all the ins and outs of the reproductive system and how it functions.

She even spoke to Peridot about the reproductive system and whether or not it is possible that she didn't need to give up one or both of her gems to have children. Peridot was a bit unnerved at how humans reproduced but still agreed that it should be possible. Even though she didn't need to talk to Peridot about it, her future vision was telling her that it was possible, she wanted to be sure so nothing bad would happen during child birth.

However, today Garnet was busy with Geminars all day so it left Y/n at home alone. During the past couple days since the discovery, Y/n had been buying all sorts of things to re-vamp his spare room in the house into a bedroom for his baby.

Y/n had successful hidden all the things he brought from Garnet, there's a big chance she knows anyway but it can't hurt to try and surprise her when she gets back.

He walked in the spare room which was completely empty so he could work on it. "Right, time to get to work!" He said out loud, walking up to some paint cans and opening them.

He chose a nice white colour to paint over the old blue-ish paint that was there. Y/n picked up a paint roller and started getting to work, rolling the white paint over each spot he could see. It was quite the workout for him but he pushed onwards, wanting the room to look the best it can be for his Girlfriend and future baby.

Y/n finished applying the first coat of paint quicker than he expected but since it needed to dry it gave him some time to relax and just as he was about to, he heard a knock at the door. "That's not Garnet's knock." He mumbled to himself, wondering who it could be.

He walked up to the front door and opened it, revealing a small purple gem. "Oh Amethyst! Hey!" Y/n said with a surprised smile.

"Yo dude, what you been up too?" Amethyst asked as she slid past Y/n to get into his house. 

"Not much, just been sorting out my house." He responded with a shrug as he closed the door behind them.

Amethyst walked into the kitchen in order to find some snacks. "What's wrong with it?" She asked as she searched through some cupboards in an attempt to find the good stuff.

"Nothing much ... just thought to renovate it you know?" He said, deciding not to tell her about the possibility of Garnet getting pregnant.

"Eh, would look better with more trash around but that's just me." Amethyst laughed as she found a bag of chaps and popped them open to start eating.

"So ... what brings you here anyway?" Y/n asked, curious to the visit, not that he minded but it was pretty strange.

"Welllll ... Garnet's been pretty happy lately, more so than usual ... do you know why ~" Amethyst teased as she asked.

Y/n thought for a moment, he knew Garnet was happy that she'd be able to start a family but he didn't want to tell Amethyst that was the reason ... not yet at least. "Its because ... I ... treated Ruby and Sapphire to a date!" He pieced together so she wouldn't get too nosy. 

It wasn't a lie since he did treat Ruby and Sapphire to a date a week or so ago, he just didn't want to tell anyone that Garnet was going to get pregnant, he wanted to let her do it, they'd probably hear it better from her anyway. "Oooo did you do anything spicy ~" Amethyst asked, pulling Y/n out of his little brain storming session.
