C/W: Alcohol, 19/20 year olds drinking

Laine wasn't at all like I expected her to be. I expected her to be like Bea, but she definitely wasn't. She was soft spoken and carried herself with a sort of grace that I didn't often see in people. If I was being honest, she reminded me of a Disney Princess, but I couldn't tell if that was a good or a bad thing.

I sat across from Laine and Bea, but I still felt like I wasn't far enough away. I'd be completely fine with the way they were acting if it weren't for the strange vibes that Laine gave off. I kept my eyes on the coffee table whilst they talked, willing myself to not neck the bottle of beer that sat in front of me.

"Mel?" Bea caught my attention and I snapped my head up to look at her. "What's up?"

I waved her question off. "Nothing."

"Is it about Nick again?" She questioned.

I frowned at the fact that she would mention that in front of Laine. "Partially. Now, drop it."

Laine looked between the two of us. "Is that the guy you like?"

I let out a sigh and picked up the bottle in front of me to take a sip.

"Yeah. He's coming tonight." Bea answered for me.

"Oh! Him!" Laine smiled at Bea. She'd clearly mentioned him before.

I took a sip of beer before pressing my lips into an unimpressed expression. It was in reaction to both the conversation and the taste. I needed Bea to just shut up for once.

Spending more than two hours with Laine and Bea together was enough to make anyone neck the bottle in front of them. I knew that I'd regret it, but right now I was regretting not leaving the house. The two of them were that kind of lovey dovey that could make anyone sick and to make it worse, they wouldn't stop talking about Nick and I at any point possible.

I knew that was how Bea was when she drank. She never shut her mouth. When I got to the point of being absolutely done with them, I stood up. "I'm just gonna stream or some shit."

Bea gave me a thumbs up and Laine didn't seem to care. I went to my computer and opened up my OBS. I did think twice, knowing that I was tipsy, but it would be my best excuse to stay away from Bea and Laine. I knew my alcohol tolerance and I knew that I hadn't gone too far yet. No one would be able to tell unless they knew how I was when I was tipsy. It wasn't like I acted any different than normal. It just took me longer to think with alcohol fogging my brain.

I checked to make sure that Nick still hadn't texted me before starting my stream. It didn't take too long for people to join and I greeted them cheerily. "Hey everyone! First stream from my new place!"

I turned in my chair and frowned a bit at the messy state of my bed. I gestured towards it. "Ignore that. This was very last minute, so I forgot to make it. How's everyone's New Year's Eve going?"

I smiled at the excitement in chat. "I couldn't read any of that, but same. That's exactly how my New Year's Eve is going."

I spent a couple minutes greeting people in chat and trying to pick up random topics that had caught on.

I had gotten my first donation of the night and laughed. "Why am I not out celebrating New Year's? Have you maybe heard of the pandemic going on?" I spoke sarcastically. "I've got my roommate and someone else out there." I pointed at the door that was off screen. "But that's it."

The door opened and I smiled at the person that was still holding the handle. "Never mind. That's not it."

Nick looked thoroughly confused, but he had an amused smile on his face. "What are you doing?"
