We did eventually let Nick play Mario Kart with us after a couple rounds of shit talking from him. He shouldn't have run his mouth. He wasn't that good and I was very open about that fact.
We spent a significant amount of time playing until Dream had to go do something. Nick and I were still extremely competitive when it was just the two of us, though. We'd try to sabotage each other by pushing back and forth with our shoulders.
It was all for fun, though. As soon as the game was off, we turned to each other with big smiles plastered on our faces, before deciding to get food.
We just ended up eating some leftovers that Nick heated up for us. He kept lightly knocking our sides together as we stood side by side, eating. I turned to him. "What's that for?"
He just shrugged.
I snickered at his lack of response. "Okay, weirdo."
He just responded by briefly leaning towards me again.
I silently leaned my head against his shoulder.
We stood like that for a while as we looked at the empty dishes in front of us. I don't think either of us wanted to break the moment by moving to put them in the sink.
It felt like minutes before Nick reached out to take my dish after a bit of protest from me and walked over to set them in the sink. The silence was strange, but not uncomfortable.
He turned back to me and I wrapped my arms around him, leaning my head against his chest. He wrapped his own arms around me and rested his head on top of mine.
I finally broke the silence. "Hey, Nick?"
"Hm?" He hummed into my hair.
I took a moment to think. "I'm honestly not sure what to say. I was just trying to break the silence."
He snickered and pulled away from me, leaving his hands on my hips. "Well, you have my attention, now."
"I should have your attention all the time." I joked.
"You practically do." He started to rub light circles into my hip before he glanced down. "Is this new?"
I followed his gaze and smiled at the bottoms I was wearing. "They are, actually. Didn't think you'd notice."
"I know your closet pretty well." He reasoned before a certain realization crossed his features. He raised an amused eyebrow at me. "Brave to literally lay across the both of us in a skirt."
I took a small step back in my excitement at the opportunity to talk about the new clothes. "But, that's the best part. They're shorts!" I took a hold of the uneven part of the fabric to show the shorts underneath and looked back up to Nick. I couldn't help but laugh when I saw that he was intensely staring at my forehead, effectively avoiding looking at where I pulled the skirt part to the side. "Look, idiot. I told you they're shorts. I'm just showing you."
He looked down once I said that and nodded at the shorts. "No, yeah, that's cool."
I giggled at him as I let go of the skirt to grab his hands. "Thank you. It's actually comfortable, too!"
He played with my fingers, intertwined with his own. "That's good. I know a lot of the stuff you wear isn't that comfy. At least, it doesn't look like it is."
I shrugged. "It really just depends." I glanced towards the hallway as something came to mind. "Actually, can we go to your room? I wanna check my bag for something."
"Yeah, sure." He nodded and let go of one of my hands, using the other to lead me. He didn't really need to lead me, but I assumed he just wanted to hold my hand.
